History

Established in 1995.

Zoom Drain & Sewer Service is the continuation of a family plumbing business started by our grandfather in 1948. We started Zoom 20 years ago with our dad and brother out of a spare bedroom and with a little borrowed money. Back then we rode together to service calls in a single truck, with at least one of us sitting on a bucket between the front seats. Those were some tough times, but we had great customers and we worked hard to build a thriving shop.

Today we still operate the day-​to-​day business operations with a team of employees who have been with us for years – helping us attain our goals of professionalism and excellence. We’re best known for fast response times and our ability to provide focused solutions for drain & sewer problems. I needed the sewer trap in front of my house unclogged. The plumber from zoom got to my house within 10 minutes of me calling, then was able to snake the line and clear out the issue within 30 minutes. After having negative experiences with another plumber in the area, it was nice to have such efficient service from a knowledgeable person. The cost of snaking the line was a bit higher than someone I’ve had it done before by, however the other company never actually fixed it so it was worth the cost in my mind.

My the first phone call that I place with Zoom, my experience was terrific! Remy responded to my call immediately in a very friendly and helpful manner. Ben and Tyler (the technicians) were prompt, friendly, and thorough. They fixed a problem that my usual plumber tried on three occasions to fix and was not able to. My drainage pipe was blocked and I was getting water in my basement. I contacted Zoom about the issue, and two techs were at my house less than 4 hours later. The company was very easy and professional to deal with. I was even emailed a profile of my field tech and office POC before my appointment. My issue was fixed within 20 minutes for a fair price. I would definitely recommend this company.

Juan and his partner were very knowledgeable and easy to work with. They solved my basement leak, unclogged and cleaned the drainage pipes, and gave excellent advice. The estimate was free and the pricing for the work was stated upfront. Would not hesitate to use again.

I am super happy with Zoom! I’ve had to contact them twice within the last month for two separate issues, and couldn’t be more impressed. Despite the fact that I live in Center City, and no contractors ever want to come here, Zoom came out almost right away both times. They are very kind, honest, and competent. Pricing is upfront and reasonable. I fully trusted what they told me and they took care of the drain problems quickly and kept things really clean. In particular, Jeff M and Tom B get high praise from me. I will definitely be sticking with Zoom for any drain or sewer issues going forward!

I was very happy with the fast and honest service would recommend this company. Both Remy & Steve were easy to deal with took care of a bad situation quickly. Another company tried to rip me off by telling me I would need to replace the cast iron pipe. That when I got another opinion. Price was high but the clog was gone. Good job, thanks.

Had a double plumbing problem — slow flowing toilet and clogged sink. Worried it was a major issue brewing. Contacted Zoom at 8am in the morning and they were there by 1030am. Geoff was great — explained what he thought was going on and his proposed actions to address. Then he got to work. Was all done within an hour. I would also note he did a great job of keeping it clean — he put down a big mat where he was working in our kitchen and then carefully cleaned up afterwards. He also made it clear it wasn’t a major issue, but they have a 30 day guarantee if the problem should come back. All in all, great plumbing service.

Where does one start when one is gleaming with joy! My floor drain in the basement was clogged and there was a large pool of water over it. Juan asked me a few question before getting started & told me he thought because of the age of the house and pipes that it was more likely than not a buildup (like the build up one gets in their arteries). He was right. After about 30mins he pulled out some debris after running the snake, and boy was there a lot.
I’m one happy camper and will be contacting Zoom in the future.

Not all plumbing issues permanently disappear even with Scott’s thin toilet paper, a good plunger, & Home Depot non-​toxic liquid «Instant Plumber» enzymes/​citrus. When was the last time you were excited to write a review? OMG – call Zoom like we wish we had sooner when our local oil company & ANGIE’S LIST reviewers recommended Zoom’s 24⁄7 FREE HOUSE CALL, WARRANTIED ADVANCE FLAT-​RATES (inc sr. & regular-​customer discounts) NICE HONEST STRONG YOUNG SKILLED PROBLEM-​SOLVING PROS we feel very comfortable with in our home handling 50yo cast-​iron pipes we’ve come to rely on Zoom saving us time, frustration, anxiety & in the long run money by EDUCATING US & CURING PROBLEMS UNDER WARRANTY instead of repeated plumbing bills
Field Supervisor Steve Solla reduced his initial estimate by a whopping $ 360 after discovering our pipe design made a branch off the main line not need a separate service of the power-​hosing (less risky & more effective than snaking) & camera we wouldn’t have known – wow – how to gain trust, retain customer loyalty, & earn referrals with humble integrity ethics :)
Night tech Chris Samarco is also so helpfully responsive & informative, reliably & expertly calming stressful night emergencies.
Office support Remy is knowledgeable and a strongly helpful part of the team too; and the night answering service/​dispatchers mirror the same top quality.
We wish we’d had Zoom inspect our 50-​year-​old house before purchase – now the law in PA, Zoom tells us – but thanks to Zoom we finally understand plumbing & what we’re dealing with here; what we can prevent & maintain; & our next steps if needed. This outfit is run so well in the Philadelphia area that they’re starting another on Long Island NY with technician Garrett, who helped us superbly here too. Buy stock if Zoom goes public! :)

We live in South Philly and we also had a blocked line from our house into the city sewer. Any rain water draining from our backyard, laundry, toilets flushing, etc. were all backing up into our basement. Disgusting. Being first time homeowners we mistakenly called a plumber first whom we paid $ 55 to spend about 5 – 10 minutes looking at our basement and then to tell us we need a drain service. He gave me two numbers to try. The first was Drain Vision. They were all business and the lady over the phone said it would be about $ 200 just for them to come check on the problem with no guarantees.
Luckily, we called Zoom next. The lady on the phone was a bit more friendly and accommodating. Zoom will send a technician out for free and you only pay once the problem is diagnosed and you agree to their service. Initially they were going to get a technician out to us that evening, but they did call back to say the jobs their technicians were on were taking longer than anticipated and they were unable to get anyone out to us until the following morning. Our technician Chris was really helpful when we had questions. Chris assured us there is a 6 month warranty on their services. They’re also technologically savvy as we had an invoice/​receipt by e-​mail within minutes after Chris left. Overall, great service.
For us, on a weekday, we had options to snake out our drain for $ 350 or to «powerclean» the entire length of our sewage pipe with high pressure water for $ 550. I do wish they had presented us with these likely options over the phone so my girlfriend and I could do some research and talk about it in advance. We did a couple minutes of googling and decided the «powerclean» might be worth it since our recently purchased home wasn’t very well cared for by previous owners. Though we can’t be certain if it’s not a bit of a trick to make a couple extra hundred off of us?
Anyway, long story short, Zoom got a technician to us within a day and they had our line unclogged within a couple hours. Quite the relief.

Over the past week I noticed that there was a weird gurgling sound coming from my ground floor toilet. It seemed to be struggling to flush, but didn’t really get backed up until Friday. This struck me as odd, it hadn’t been used in a while and plunging didn’t do anything… weird, right?
It was at this point that we realized that we had water (ahem, sewage water) seeping out from the vent stack in front of our house and onto the street… gross. The philly water department stopped in front and told us we had two options, let the sewer people come to fine us or call a plumber to fix it. «It» being the blocked line that connected us to the city sewer. Long story short, not all plumbers do this, so I was directed to Zoom. They have a call service that put me in contact with their tech, we scheduled a time the next day and he fixed it in about an hour. He was a nice guy, explained the problem and solution used, and gave me a number to follow up if there is a future issue (they give a warranty).
They are pricey ($ 550ish for the weekend call) but after talking with the water people they made it pretty clear that if there is something wrong and you make it worse in your attempt to fix it, you could completely screw up your home’s plumbing and be completely liable for the damage to the lines.
And that is how I learned about sewage lines and city utilities.
