Prompt service … greeted as we exited our car. Worked with us to find the car we wanted. New salesperson, Sam, did her best to show us autos and we were grateful she asked for help when she was not sure about features we were unfamiliar with. Very pleasant experience overall and came home with a new Subaru Forester.

Great dealership. Our salesman JR was knowledgeable and professional. Also, the Service Manager was professional and easy to talk with. Great experience buying a great product.

Well… they could use improvement… so max 2−½ stars is it. Starting with the best… the online help is very efficient. The historically «dreaded» finance department person was more than EXCELLENT… made the whole process amazingly easy. The sales person was very good during the whole purchase process and «immediate» follow-​up. BUT after the purchase, you are lost and forgotten. Good luck with help if you have any questions after you drive away! This leads me to believe management should take a better look at the whole purchase process… future, present, and past. If they want referrals AND repeat business, they’d better treat you as a lifelong customer! Some people may be more car-​knowledge-​deficient than others so Gerald personnel needs to be available not only on day of purchase but for post-​sale questions/​advice as well. Here they rate a 0. Also, they need to make improvements to their showroom ASAP! I like a showroom that truly is a SHOWroom. It was freezing there (heating problems) in winter. And the bathroom needs work. And while they say they offer free car washes with service… the car wash has always been «down!» No new-​car free oil change as other dealers offer… not even for the first change only. All it takes is a little more effort, Gerald, to be just as kind to your recent customers as those first walking in the door. If you count on loyal, repeat customers, you should practice customer respect and loyalty to them!

Our salesman (Big Jon) was really helpful, understood my needs and helped us with a very smooth car buying experience. Love my new Legacy and would definitely return for future car purchases.

Smooth and timely service to address some recall issues on my 2015 Outback. They were ready to service my car at my appointment time. I was given a time estimate which was reasonable and they finished early.

You have been warned. You can get a better deal and service at any other Subaru dealer in the area. And when I say deal I mean price on everything (except taxes since that is a flat published amount). The right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing here. I understand one lost sale doesn’t make a difference to this place or have an impact on them, but given sites like this exist, thought I would put it out there.

My father bought a new car here. When they were transferring the license plates, they ground down the screws on the old car. Now I can’t get the new license plates on! Who does such a thing? I’m having to pay a different mechanic to try to remove the broken off remains so the new plates can be put on.

UPDATE — Service Manager called that day and made it right. Yay for good customer service, and thank you David the SM for taking the time to call me. I know it was your day off. Much appreciated!
This review is actually for the Service Department. I’m on my 3^rd lease from this place and my lease comes with 2 free oil changes. I used the first one and at the time, I asked the clerk to confirm the date by which I needed to get the 2^nd. She said as long as I come before end of year, it should be fine. So I made an appointment and again explained the situation to the man who made the appointment and he said yes, they should honor it. My husband took the car today to the appointment because I’m at home with our sick baby and the man at the dealer said no, they will not honor it and he would be charged $ 100.
My husband left and called me, I called the dealer and the man I spoke to refused to help. He said my husband could pay or I can try the service manager who isn’t in until Monday. Now, I live a good 40 minutes from this place, the only reason I’ve gone back to purchase or lease again and again has been because of the customer service.
Well, I guess this guy doesn’t care that I will never give this dealership my business again.

I was impressed by all the people I came in contact with at the Gerald Subaru of North Aurora, but the sales consultant, Jon DeWig was just a pleasure to deal with. He is knowledgeable in all the aspects regarding the car I was interested in and all the additional packages that were offered. He had the patience to answer all of my (sometimes silly) questions, to give me a demo and to help set up most of the important features of the car. On top of that, he took the time to mail the City Sticker I forgot on the windshield even before I got the chance to call to ask him about it. There aren’t any other words than praise for «Big Jon»! He made the experience of getting my first Subaru an unforgettable one!

I recently had a disappointing experience with the sales team. I was offered a trade price for my loaded 08 Rogue– without it being seen by the dealership — strange. It was too low but could not be negotiated. The TrueCar price I had wasn’t handled accurately. Also said no 3 times to extending warranty but continued to feel pressure. I finally walked out after making it through half of the final paperwork. Very unprofessional sales team– the Naperville location is a completely different experience — made a deal there today — very happy.

Our first Subaru! Stopped by on a Friday afternoon in July to take a quick look (wasn’t sure what vehicle was best suited for my needs). Sean Ryan took the time to test out multiple cars on the lot until finding the best fit. There was no rushing or pressure to decide and the entire experience went better than I expected — Ferris & Erick were easy to work with and the service dept & Brian were very helpful.
Sean was EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the whole line of vehicles and really made the effort to find me ‘The right one’.

Appears to have sold my information on a vehicle I bought in 2013. Just got off the phone with my 10^th salesperson for «extended coverage» for my BRZ, who claimed they got my information from my dealership.
Seeing as this is the only dealership I’ve brought the car to, there you have it.

On March 26, 2015, I bought a new 2015 Subaru XV CrossTrek 2.0i Premium with Automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and Option Package 1 (seat back protector, auto dimming mirror, all weather mats, rear bumper cover and splash guard kit) from Gerald Subaru of North Aurora (Illinois). The car had 60 miles on it.

OVERALL. I had an amazing experience with Gerald Subaru of North Aurora and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone who wants /​needs a Subaru. The only reason I give it 4-​stars vs. 5-​stars is my belief that true selling occurs when a salesman visits a customer (not vice versa). What’s more, I knew that I wanted to buy a car and the dealer, in essence, is taking my order.
ABOUT GERALD SUBARU. A great dealer and I will buy another car from them. At the end of the day, there’s one principle that applies. I want their car and they want my money. If both sides are reasonable and fair, it’s a win /​win situation for me and the dealer. :)
WHAT I LIKED about the dealer. The dealership staff is professional, courteous, swift and responsive and believes in delighting customers. As we all know, car buying has a negative reputation (in general) and is a painful experience. This is not the case at Gerald Subaru. They gave me a great price immediately — well below invoice and below True Car pricing. In fact, the dealer and I came to agreement in price, title and license, taxes, doc fees and electronic vehicle registration (EVR) by email.
PROMOTIONS. I took advantage of Subaru’s financing promotion of 1.9% for 60 months though the actual promotional financing was 1.49% up to 48 months, which ended March 31, 2015.
RESEARCH ONLINE FIRST. I did my own research beginning online at Kelley Blue Book, Consumer Report, True Car and contacted several Subaru dealers by phone. Then, I visited the North Aurora dealership. Sean Ryan is the sales consultant with whom I met at the dealership and Lance Armstrong is the sales manager with whom I interacted online. They both are friendly and knowledgeable and gave me straight-​forward, responsive answers. When I was finalizing details, I talked to Scott Wolf, who listened to me (bug thumbs up for that), was very understanding and did not pressure me to buy until I was ready.
SUBARU OF AMERICA. I performed further due diligence with Subaru of America’s regional office (1 of 3 offices in the U.S.) in Itasca, Illinois and talked with Tim Patterson, who confirmed that Gerald Subaru is a high volume dealer, is the gold standard of dealers in the tri-​state area of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana and is a well-​regarded and reputable dealer. The dealership is establishing a best practice of selling the most cars in this area.
WHAT I LIKED about the CrossTrek. It’s a Small Crossover SUV highly rated by both the industry and consumers and had the following key features standard on the vehicle: safe, practical and highly rated car, AWD, rear camera and Bluetooth integration. And, it has a younger, fresher, cooler styling.
The CrossTrek is an updated version of the Impreza Wagon. It’s the same chassis but sits higher and is stylized for millennials. The next step up would be the Forrester and Outback which are stylized for families.
COMPETITION. I looked at similar small crossover SUVs brands like Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Honda, Ford. Except for Honda (had a family look and feel), the other brands didn’t have the features that were important me as standard features.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE. At closing, I had to sit through the extended warranty presentation, which I did not purchase. This is the part of car buying experience which adds to the bad reputation due to the «hard sell». I’ve had Hondas and Acuras and never purchased the extended warranty. IMHO, it’s a waste of money because if you maintain the vehicle, you should be fine. Otherwise, you’re protected by Lemon Laws. At Gerald, the «sell» is softer but nonetheless wasted my time.
END OF THE DAY. I had a great experience with dealership and the car is great! Big thumbs up for their Internet pricing and buying process. The salesmen, especially Sean Ryan and Lance Armstrong, did the heavy lifting to provide a first-​class experience! Thank you!

I did not feel any pressure — it was a no-​hassle experience. Between Lance and Jose, the experience was great!
I already knew what I wanted before I came into the dealership and had the pleasure of speaking with Lance via email. Before I even came into the dealership, I had an exact price agreed on that I was happy with (including knowing what the doc/​tax/​title etc would cost).
When I got to the dealership, Lance handed me off to Jose who was equally as great! I felt no pressure to get options I did not want and ordered/​took delivery on my new car feeling completely satisfied. After this experience, I continue to be impressed with this dealership. I am already a Subaru guy, but this experience just further enforced why.

If there was a zero star rating this would definetly be there. purchased a vehicle from them less than a month ago. Have had it here 6 times now for the same issue. Among others. First it was an alternator the day after I got it. Next was the windshield washer sprayers are clogged then it was frozen then it’s glowed now it’s frozen here it is again now what’s the issue. It’s got –35 degree washer fluid in it it’s not frozen. Fix it. Driving down the road and hit the brakes oh hey the power sliding doors open up. (A saftey feature of this vehicle is that is disabled of all power while in any gear besides park. Window motor capped out this morning. Oh let’s take another day off work to bring it in for 7 hours to say there’s nothing they can do about it. Sorry, I thought I bought the bumper to bumper that covers EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL when I purchased the vehicle. Oh wait I did it’s right here on the bill. Now it’s currently sitting in the shop with 6 people standing around it looking at it like «yep that’s the motor» is competency doesn’t seem like something that they believe in. If it wasn’t for the warranty I would do the work myself. (A.S.E. certified technician talking here) there’s always an excuse for why something isn’t wrong with it. Also an owner of a 2002 with a quarter million miles on it with less problems than this 07 with 71 thousand on it. Would love to see the van get fixed once and for all. This is crap. If the van gets fixed the right way and doesn’t have a recurring problem time after time, maybe then my review will change to a less bland texture. Will not be buying from here again regardless. Will be calling bbb and looking into the state lemon law. Hoping it doesn’t get to that point but if it does it does.

We dropped our car off because another mechanic told us to get the head gasket checked on the engine. Kevin called to tell us that the radiator needed replaced. After inquiring about the gasket/​engine diagnostic, he basically said I needed to replace the radiator before he checked that in detail. We were willing to accept that and go get a 2^nd opinion. They charged us $ 160.00 with no proof that any testing was done. There was no mention of a testing fee when we dropped it off. The vehicle was purchased from them and the 160 was paid. They won’t get another dime from my family. I love our Subaru but Gerald is not the place to go!

I love my Subaru Forester, this review is not about the vehicle, it’s about the dealership. I recently negotiated a price vs dealer invoice with the sales manager prior to visiting the dealership. While they honored that price, they then proceeded to offer me less than a third of what my trade was worth and would not budge. Ultimate bait and switch bullshit. In addition to that, they would not let me test drive alone, the whole time, the slimy salesman was jabbering at me. High pressure crap from the minute you walk in the door. As this is my money and I am an extremely well qualified buyer, I don’t put up with this crap. I promptly went to another dealership and was extremely pleased. Do yourself a favor and save your time by avoiding Gerald Subaru altogether…

The service staff are courteous, congenial and professional. The facility is clean and well maintained. The waiting room is bright, spacious and provides ample seating, a T.V., coffee machine and a workspace with electrical outlets and free WiFi. The technicians know their way around a Subaru. The service managers (Bob and Brian) we’ve dealt with are very nice, knowledgeable and take the time to explain the work, estimated time and costs and will review past visits and recommend work. They also identify any unplanned maintenance found and provide options that meet our needs.
The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is that on weekends they do not have the full capabilities to service our vehicle. They do not have technicians on weekends to accomplish diagnostic work or complex maintenance. We work Mon-​Fri and our work locations make weekdays difficult for us unless we take a vacation day. We also live in Campton Hills which requires a fix while we wait visit.

On 6÷25÷2013, I’ve taken the STI in for a brake service-​turns out that front Brembo Caliper bolts were seized and won’t turn, so they only ended up replacing the rear rotors & brakes.
The tech who worked on this job did not care about my aftermarket wheels (SSR CSR 17 inch wheels: retail price ($ 525.00 a piece). He made some scratches to the rims (there were 0 scratches prior to the visit), dented the lug nuts and wheel locks-​how is this even possible? He even scratched up the polished center caps (all 4 of them). I ended up calling Tire Rack to replace the lug nuts and the wheel locks, and now I’m sourcing for the center caps.
