Donnelly Memorial Park Dog Run

Decent park for peeping out the Manhattan skyline from the cliffs. They have benches with plenty of trees for shade in order to enjoy some delicious lunch. They also have swings, a playground, and at times the bootleg Mr. Softee drives around. Perfect for relaxing on days that you just want to take a breather. Great for walking, jogging, and biking around as well.

The park was clean the gravel wasn’t so bad and the people there were very pleasant. My dog had a great time. The doggie obstacles were a great addition to the park. I would definitely come back with my dog and recommend others

Great place to bring your dog! Especially in west New York! This town has a problem with owners picking up after their pets so it’s good to see it get done for the most part here.
Most people that bring their pets are pretty friendly I haven’t had any run ins with any bad pups. The ground is gravel which I’m cautious of in the warmer months but my puppy doesn’t seem to mind.
The park is fairly small but even for the small size it does offer water fountains for the dogs which is awesome and it also has an area for smaller and bigger dogs.
The only con is the gravel I wish this place was grassy and easier on the pups paws but as long as your careful and don’t have the dogs out there too long they don’t seem to be to bothered by it! So bring your dogs over and let them have a great time! Also enjoy the view of the Hudson River and the city lights!

I would avoid this dog park. It’s neither grass nor dirt, but rocks which will eventually crack and destroy your furry pal’s nails. We went on a very nice sunny Sunday afternoon/​early evening and it was packed with dogs. Some of the dogs should not have been allowed to be unleashed there. The experience quickly turned vicious as a pitbull and another breed went at it. Some of the owners were completely oblivious to the aggressive behaviors of their dogs — they appeared to be regulars there and simply didn’t care to get off of the benches and intervene until there was biting involved. Some of the other dog owners (like ourselves) left because they feared for their dogs’ (and possibly their own) safeties. Most of the blame should be pointed at the dog owners who clearly did not care to be bothered with the safety of the other dogs or people there so long as their dog was the aggressor and being attacked. At one point, we even saw a dog owner kick another dog for trying to attach its own dog. The park itself is also dirty, with trash littered inside and not cleanly kept. If you care for the safety of your dog (and your own self), STAY AWAY and leave it to those rude, inconsiderate, and ignorant dog owners. I can totally foresee some serious unfortunate tragedies occurring at this place.

I do not have a dog, but I did need a place to sit to rest my old weary bones. It was great to relax here in the nice shade.

Pretty spacious dog park (there’s two sections) with three lil’ ramps for dogs to do some agility on (photos attached!). The ground is also littered with pebbles, which I think can be good for their paws. They also have some benches and poop bags available for you. Annnd you can get a great view of Manhattan as you hang out here, haha.

A pleasant surprise and one of the better dog runs in North New Jersey I have found so far .
Things it has going for it:
— Not a lot of wear and tear
— Seating for humans
— Has dog drinking fountain just outside run
— Has separate large and small dog runs
— Has plenty of shade
— Great fencing, gates and entry areas
— Poop dispenser in both runs but no poop bags when I was there
— Pea gravel ground cover (good drainage and dogs stay cleaner)
— Obstacle ramps for dogs to play on
— Great views of midtown Manhattan
Things it has against it:
— Needs a little more seating
— Could be a little bigger
These converted tennis courts are better than most runs in the area. These runs almost have it all plus views of midtown.
