I saw Charlotte Jenson for 13 sessions, during which she drastically changed the way I have to live my life. I went to see her for a radicular pain in my leg stemming from problems with my lumbar spine. I DID NOT HAVE BACK PAIN BEFORE I SAW HER, but by the time I ended treatment, I was in such severe back pain that I could barely place any pressure on either foot without causing horrific sharp shooting pains. I could not stand for longer than a couple minutes without involuntarily wincing from the pain, and I could not sit for extended periods either.
Ms. Jenson has her patients rate their pain in various areas on an iPad before each treatment. Though my pain scores were rising and the areas of pain grew from several to many, she steadfastly clung to her belief that using traction with me lying prone on a table with a leg portion that lowered and raised, yanking on my lower back, would eventually turn from pain to relief. My spinal abnormalities included severe arthritis, and yet she still adhered to this regimen.
I was in agony when I left my last session with Ms. Jenson. She provided no guidance as to how I might obtain relief. She only suggested another home treatment that would also have stretched my spine, that approach having led to agony notwithstanding.
I was able to see an interventional radiologist who gave me some epidural injections that took me out of agony, but did not put me back to my pre-​Ms. Jenson state. I also saw a physical therapist to help treat the pain, and she was appalled to learn of the treatment regimen Ms. Jenson used and that she failed at the last session even to suggest that I go to the emergency room.
I filed a Board complaint about Ms. Jenson, which is when I discovered that my medical records reflected that Ms. Jenson was treating me for injuries from a car accident I never had. That was early on in the medical record.
Ms. Jenson felt it necessary to secure the services of an attorney, a gentleman who represents most chiropractors before the Maryland Board, and his reply to my complaint was filled with inaccuracies, incorrect leaps of logic, and outright lies. According to the Maryland Board’s letter to me, I was supposed to be interviewed as part of the investigation. I did respond in a written format to her attorney’s reply, but I was never interviewed. The investigator lied to his boss that he thought I wouldn’t be able to make it to their office, because I had had back surgery, though I had emailed him on 3 occasions when I expected to be able to speak with him, and sent a final email letting him know I had sufficiently recovered to be interviewed.
In addition to that fact that the investigator didn’t interview me, he also didn’t interview the interventional radiologist whose epidural injections took me out of the agony Ms. Jenson’s treatment caused, nor did he interview the physical therapist who started working with me within days after the cessation of my disastrous experience with Ms. Jenson, though I had told him multiple times that she would be the professional to speak with to provide objective data about my suffering.
I didn’t have any significant lower back pain before I saw Ms. Jenson. I had seen many medical providers before seeing her, so there is ample documentation for this. Since my experience with her, major back surgery, additional physical therapy, additional epidurals, medications, and other alternative treatments like acupuncture have all failed to undo the damage she caused.
Stay away from her if you have significant spinal problems revealed on an MRI. She perseverates on treatments that will injure you for life. I SO wish I’d never seen her. I think about this dozens of times each day. The chronic pain she caused gnaws at me every waking hour and is a source of significant stress in my life.
I hope I’ve been able to help someone else from not making the same mistake I did.

I have been going to Dr. Jensen for about one month. I came to her office because of chronic back and neck pain I have suffered for more than 10 years. In my first appointment, she took enough time to ask me questions about my past injuries and symptoms, to examine my spine and x-​rays before diagnosing me and suggesting a treatment plan. She even called me the next day to ask how I was feeling after the first adjustments! My treatment consists of three visits a week, in which she performs adjustments and gives me exercises to do at home. Only a month later, I already feel much better, I already notice the improvement in my posture and the pain has significantly decreased. Dr. Jensen is very friendly, approachable, never rushes through your appointment and always takes enough time to answer all your questions. Her assistant, Yvonne, is also very friendly and helpful. Overall, I am really happy that I found Dr. Jensen and will certainly continue to be a long-​term patient.

I’m an RN and am a bit skeptical of chiropractors. But being pregnant and in a horrific amount of back pain to the point where I could barely walk a block led me to Dr. Jensen because she specializes in care of pregnant mothers.
I started seeing her when I was 7.5 months pregnant; and because of the adjustments she’s made and the exercises she’s taught me to do, a month later my pain is nearly gone – something that I never thought would happen in my third trimester!
I only wish I had started to see her earlier, because for a long time I really thought my only options as my OB stated were Tylenol (largely ineffective) and a belly belt. What I also didn’t realize was that my insurance (CareFirst PPO) would cover so much chiropractic treatment – 20 visits annually with just a copay.
If you’re on the fence, meet with Dr. Jensen. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and not trying to up-​sell you on things. Her receptionist has also been very helpful and kind, too.

I was an active athlete during adolescence and after college. However, years of sedentary middle-​management jobs unwittingly took its toll on my body. It all came to a head one day when I twisted my back lifting my 2 year-​old son out of his car seat. My back did not return to its normal position. Instead, with much pain, it was stuck in the twisted position. I visited my primary care physician, who with the best of intentions, treated my symptoms with anti-​inflammation pills.
After a few weeks with no improvement, a relative recommended Dr. Jensen who treated the problem. Dr. Jensen gave me a full evaluation prior to treatment and recommended an exercise and stretching regimen to mitigate the ongoing risk of any recurrence. Since then, I have been a believer of Chiropractic’s and faithful 7-​year client of Dr. Jensen’s — despite living over an hour away!

Dr. Jensen is the real deal. Great no nonsense approach, extraordinarily hospitable and amazing service, not to mention feeling wonderful afterwards. Couldn’t be happier and will most definately continue to be a long-​term client.

I have been going to Dr. Jensen for over two years. I had a difficult pregnancy that created some long-​term problems. I was hesitant to go to a chiropractor after a bad experience with one years ago, but after a couple of months of physical therapy and trying on my own I finally decided to give it a try. Dr. Jensen relieved my lower back pain!
When my baby had problems favoring one side with her head, thus creating a flat spot on her head and causing her to not be balanced right when trying to sit up, we took her to physical therapy suggested by her pediatrician and the next step would have been a neuro specialist. I happened to mention it in conversation with Dr. Jensen and she showed me pictures of other children she had treated. After a few visits, my daughter was sitting up, crawling, and leaning to both sides equally!
I am so, so grateful to Dr. Jensen for her gentle care of myself and my daughter. Dr. Jensen has now started her own practice and I truly hope it succeeds. She is a great chiropractor (and a nice, friendly person). I highly recommend her.
