The Metro Pooch – A Luxury Hotel and Day Camp for Dogs

My guys LOVE this place. They start getting all bouncy as soon as we turn down the entrance! We’ve been using Metro for several years now for day care and boarding. Can’t speak for the quality of the grooming as I’ve never used those services, but I haven’t heard any complaints. The people are competent and friendly, and they really stay on top of everything. The building is clean and inviting. Never had a bad experience, and we won’t go anywhere else! I just wish they stayed open later on Sundays…

My little morkie hasn’t been professionally groomed in four years due to bad past experiences at groomers. I finally decided to take some grooming time off to try out the Metro Pooch. The new groomer Brittany was absolutely wonderful. She listened to exactly what I was looking for and delivered!!! My morkie was trimmed up nice and neat and didn’t look over done or over cut for that matter. It is nice to have finally found someone who works with the customer!
I am very happy and will not hesitate anymore when taking Lucy to the groomers.

My dog Finnegan loves going here for day care. He lunges out of the car and wags his tail all the way in. He is exhausted at the end of the day. Love it!

I drive from Chicago out east during the holdays so my dog can be with me and this time I had to attend a work meeting that was not near any family member to help watch my dog. It was scary and hard to find a place but I am glad I chose The Metro Pooch!
Could not have asked for a better expereince, I only wish I could find a place like this near my home for my Addison (Chicago area). The staff was so friendly and helpful prior to our arrival to ensure I had everything. They really made me feel comfortable bringing my dog to a strange place!
The facility was so clean compared to several other facilities I have been to. The staff was welcoming when we arrived and were so gentle with Addison. She has trouble going with strangers most of the time but they took their time and were so kind! I thought it would be best to give Addison her meds so I did not have to worry if she got them while at this hotel. I had some difficulities I must admit but should have done it prior to going in. A staff member very kindly asked if I wanted some help and I agreed. She showed me an easier way to give a dog a pill! I’m so thankful for this because it is much easier than what I was doing!
I must say this is a class act kind of place and I’m so thankful for taking such good care of my dog! Thank you all so very much!

I like this place but the problem is that they have terrible hours on Sundays so it means that you can’t pick your dog up until Monday morning. This makes it a poor option for a weekend trip.
Otherwise, it seems very clean, and the staff are nice, it’s just not a very large space at all.

Will not leave my dog anywhere else, they are so good with him. Our dog has a crazy amount of energy and they handle him so well. Whenever we have to leave him here we rest easy knowing he’s in good hands. They also keep tabs on all the necessary vaccinations so no pup gets sick. And when our dog is sometimes the last one there we catch the staff scrubbing the floors so we know it’s super clean. So glad they recently added grooming, I can drop him off in the morning and they do his nails right there I don’t have to make time to take him to another place! And the groomer they hired is awesome she is so good with our dog. Love it here!

I had checked this place out once. I was interested in the doggie daycare but thought I’d start off with a grooming session.
I didn’t feel welcome at all. The people in the front didn’t even walk me through the place to see anything.
I left my pup there for a few hours to get groomed and when I picked him up I noticed that his paw had some blood. I know things happen but they should have mentioned something to me about it. Then sure enough that night my poor pup ended up with conjunctivitis! Immediately got him to the Vet and he said it was def. infected. My poor pup was lethargic all week and uncomfortable.

What CAN’T I say about The Metro Pooch???

This place is **amazing**; from day camp to overnight stays, everything is
covered!
You may think that ‘day camp for doggies’ is quite ‘bourgeois’ or ‘up-​itty’, but I assure it is is not — not that The Metro Pooch doesn’t pull out all the stops in making this place a high quality (and extremely clean) establishment — but bringing your dog to day camp is not just for the socially elite. Having the opportunity to leave your pet at the Metro Pooch is so helpful for those of us pet parents who work long days and want to provide the best for our pets, and not have to worry about a thing! Here the dogs can socialize in a ‘pack environment’ and learn to play well with others, as well as get on track with a healthy daily routine. Kristen (the owner) does an amazing job at helping continue training techniques with the dogs too. You never have to worry about your pup while he/​she is at the Metro Pooch, all is taken care of! And if you don’t believe me, give them a day of fun here and see how happy and tired they are at the end of it! — you can also watch your pup while they are there on the puppy cam, a crowd favorite!
If you are going out of town for a night, or more, check out their overnight stay ‘suites’ — yes I said suite… I for one do not want to leave my pup in a cold crated place overnight while she is already uncomfortable out of her home and in a strange new place… here they have their very own room/​doggie suite, complete with heated floors, special soothing doggie music, and even calming pheromones! And yup, you guessed it, your very own puppy cam to check in and see how your pup is doing in your absence (I assure you, they will be more than content!).
I have checked out other pet day cares in the area… and this place is by far above the rest. It is in a class all its own. And for the fun and comfort your pup gets, and the ease of mind it gives you to know your pup is being taken care of, it is well worth it. Give Metro Pooch a try, even if just for a day, and you will see why I, and many other pet parents, are singing its praises (and besides, Sadie loves to meet new pup friends!!) :)
