Mist Hookah Lounge

One of the worst hookah places I’ve been to.
We had to set up the hookah and the coal.
Hose was rusty. It’s just not worth. They don’t know what they are doing. The couches are super uncomfortable. They need experienced servers and should lower their prices for this crap.

Hookah is horrible. The pan flavor hookah has a choclaty favor to it for some reason. The ambience is good but the price is on the higher end. Even the staff is annoying as they wont even let u settle down to look at the menu as they keep bugging you for every 5 mins. The one star i have is for BYOB which is the only positive.

Worst policies, high end! They rip u off by making u buy drinks and 2 hookahs for only 3 people! Don’t go there

Great atmosphere, service was really fast and the staff was extremely friendly — even on a busy Saturday night, and the music was on point. The hookah itself was average at best

I’ve been scared to check this place out due to the low rated reviews but I was definitely proved wrong. They have a wide selection of flavors, as well as prices. You can get a unique blend for around $ 22 or you can get basic but still good flavors for about $ 10. I like the options! The hookah also lasted a ridiculously long time (I got a blend). I went with one friend and shared the hookah. We stayed for about 2 ½ hours. We brought a bottle of wine and chatted. At the end, the hookah was still going strong. I was impressed and felt like I got my money’s worth.
I went on a Saturday night. The music wasn’t too loud. The crowd was nice and diverse. It wasn’t too busy. Everything I want! I hate the overcrowded, overpriced, and overly noisy hookah bars in the city.
If you are going with a crowd check the policies first. I see that’s why a lot of people are pissed off here on Unilocal about it. Going as 2 people, it was perfect. Oh and 1 drink minimum, yea so, comedy cubs do that too. I got a bottle of water.

Worst hookah ever. I travel for work and have been to numerous lounges nationwide, this has the worst tasting hookahs. They claim to use only Starbuzz but this definitely did not taste like Starbuzz. Gave it one star because server was nice and lounge nicely decorated. Bad management, bad hookah.

The hookah is fine here but why you need to be fully patted down before going into a hookah place is beyond me — also pretty expensive for the quality

Been to a good number of hookah bars in many different cities, and this was not the greatest. You have to buy a minimum of one drink per person (which isn’t itself bad), but the drinks are terrible (both hot/​cold and alcoholic and non alcoholic). Service was bad, they sometimes will bring you coals, and even then won’t out them on for you, that’s something you apparently have to take care of yourself. You get patted down when you enter, hats not allowed… And my purse was searched for alcohol… I mean, really? Felt like I was entering some kind of interrogation room from the get go. Servers are curt, and try to oversell on all hookahs. Don’t waste your time here!

If i could have given them 0 stars I would have. This place was extremely terrible. The hookah was the worst I’ve ever had in my life if I could have went back there and made it myself I would have. Do not go there I repeat do not go there.

The manager was very very misbehaved and arrogant. He doesn’t know how to treat customers. They have weird policy too and they were not upfront about it. They made us take 3 hookah for 5 people even though 3 of us didn’t smoke. And they disclosed this policy only after serving the first hookah. The hookahs were nothing good either. Extremely bad service and very arrogant manager. I would never go back here and would suggest everyone not to go. I am forced to give 1 star when I want to give zero star.

Rude staff that lacks courtesy and speaks disrespectfully to women characterizes the crib in a nutshell.
We were 5 of us and out of the 5, only 2 were interested in having Hookah so we visit Mist which was in the vicinity. Since the headcount was 5, we were forced to order 3 Hookah as per the «Company Policy». On demanding a logical explanation from the store receptionist guy named ‘Manny’, my female friend was il-​treated and part-​surprised at how store-​keepers deal with customers in this age of digital revolution without truly understanding the consequences of their unwarranted actions. While I was leaving, I went to the same guy ‘Manny’ and politely asked if he thinks my female friend deserves an apology, to which he again spoke crap and instead demanded an apology from our side. Even when most of the place was vacant, they didn’t honor our request of moving to a bigger booth stating business reasons.
I am forced to give this review a single star when I wanted to give none, as this is a new low in customer satisfaction I have come across ever. If you wanna have hookah in the evening, this is definitely a no-​go.

If I could I would rate this 0 stars. I’ll start off with a list of everything as to why you should avoid this place .
1.everything is overpriced
2. Hookah is horrible
3. Hookah is Dirty
4. Tobacco taste like Sh*t (never tasted sh*t before but this is probably very close)
5. They don’t put any tobacco at all in the head.
6. Avoid this place like the Black Plague
Never will I ever recommended going to this place. Go to the bowling alley right next to it you’ll have a better time there than going to this joke place

This place is embarrassing.
I’ll start off with a friend of mine’s experience first. He shows up for literally 5 minutes to say hi to a group and that «affected the headcount ratio,» meaning another hookah must be added to the bill. Well, they added it, without mentioning to the table.
My review…
Mist tries so hard to make it seem like you’re in some VIP club. You pay $ 3.50 for «premium» tea, which comes in a plastic gas station cup, and is by no means premium in quality (it’s a grocery store tea bag). No hats allowed, etc. etc. If you’re going for that club feel, then don’t BLAST THE BASKETBALL GAME not a single person in there is watching through the speakers. Could barely hold a conversation, which is what people go to a hookah lounge to do: chat and smoke.
One thing I noticed was the people that bring around hot coal don’t blow out the hookah head or replace coal for you like every other place I’ve been to.
The floor layout is poorly designed. The lighting is confusing – it’s dark and light at the same time. The wall art is trash. The music is embarrassingly tacky – I mean, I love music, old and new, but they’re playing tacky pop dance trance mixes like it’s 2000 – 2005, and as if they are currently hot and trending. It’s 2015.
Lastly, they didn’t want to sit us down by the women’s bathroom because… well, it’s next to the women’s bathroom. How insulting is that? Don’t put seats and a table there, then.
LOL, NAH. Mist gets a big fat NAH. Place is hella corny. The vibe in there is awful. Calm down with your horrible front of pretending to be something upscale – you’re not.

The selection is good and the quality is okay. I’ve had a badly packed bowl out of the 8 or so I’ve had here, which isn’t necessarily indicative of problems.
The bouncer at the door is pretty invasive. It’s not clear to me why he is needed, but perhaps there is a reason.
The prices aren’t necessarily high per se, but the place has a bit of a aggressive and money-​grubby feel. The policy is one hookah per two people and you have to buy a soft drink (which, unlike the shisha, are overpriced.) Gratuity is added to the bill. The policies are related to you in a way that is a bit aggressive-​feeling.
The thing I want to do at a hookah lounge is RELAX, which one hookah per two people gets in the way of. I’m not a constant hookah and just keeping it 2 hookahs going well among three patrons increases my stress.
I would much sooner have significant price hikes without the strong-​armed policy stuff. It feels cheap and, frankly, condescending. I do not feel treated like a grownup.
The décor is modern and somewhat chic but cheap, home-​quality stuff and some of it is uncomfortable. The staff is friendly enough. The uniform is tacky.
I still go here from time to time, which is not usually something I’d say about a 1-​star review, but that’s really for lack of competition and convenient location. DEfinitely don’t rush in.

The place is good, hookah was smooth. You need to buy drinks with the hookah though, which was unusual. The bouncer at the front was kind of overkill, but I talked to the manager, and he had a good enough reason for that.
It’s a decent place, I’ll likely visit again.

The place itself is very large. It is probably one of the largest hookah bars I have been to, and I have been to a lot. The place inside is very nice with pleasant couches and TV’s around the whole place with a giant projector in the back wall. Also if you do see a giant painting on the wall, the dragon like one. That was done by my next door neighbor Aisha, who is a crazy talented artist.
The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They help you go through the menus very well and if you need coals for your hookah, they try and get it to you as fast as they can.
Also the place is byob, so that is definitely a plus for people who like a little beer or wine with their hookah. But remember it can’t be more than 30% content so no vodka or stuff like that.
That being said, the security thing in front is a little ridiculous. We aren’t going to a huge famous club or anything so it’s kinda ridiculous that I have to be strip searched before I walk in.
Also they do have a variety of hookah flavors which is always a plus, but tbh they aren’t the best I’ve had. Idk what how they pack it or whatever, but it’s not the best. They are places in NB and Edison that have much better hookahs.
But all in all, it’s a pretty decent place and it is very large. They allow some liquor which is always a plus. So if you enjoy that, then I would recommend this place, if you can get passed the security guy in front.

BYOB — Beer and Wine Only. Alchohol content has to be under 12.5% (i think… or is it 17.5%? hmm… you might wanna call ahead and double check first. I always bring the big bottle Cavit Pinot Grigio and that is JUST making the cut)
I was once a regular here before I moved and its a pretty cool spot. The service is usally pretty goo. They are always on top of the coal refills. The music is usually house, a little hip hop, pop and thats pretty much it. Chill crowd. And the prices are right.

This earns three stars simply for being a hookah lounge being next to a place called the «House of Munchies.» You can’t make this stuff up.
Update, damn, I swear one day after posting this the House of Munchies became a pizza place. Oh, well.

it’s a hookah «lounge» in a strip mall with a bowling alley that think’s it’s an upscal joint in nyc. NO.
there’s a hardcore bouncer at the door checking bags and doing pat-​downs as if everyone and their momma is trying to bust into the place with contraband. the place is always pretty much empty. NO.
they charge NYC prices for hookah, but don’t deliver NYC quality. takes forever to get coals, and they don’t prep the hookah or clean in between. there’s a premium pricetag on average quality hookah. there’s an enforced drink minimum and you must get at least one hookah per every 2 people in your party. have 5 people? gotta get 3 hookahs. NO. NO. NO.
the service is just pathetic. slow, condescending, and they make you feel like they’re doing you a favor. NO.
the lights aren’t dimmed, the music is shitty. there are pay-​to-​play pool tables. NO.
this place is a sad, sad, joke.
might as well go bowling instead… at least there’s a bar there.

The ONLY good thing about our drive down from Jersey City is that our boy DJ CHES is spinning. Ambiance is okay… but for the insane pat down and bag search, it feels like I should be entering an NYC night club. Not sure what crowd they’re trying to bring in, but they’re looking for a more exclusive clientele than they deserve. $ 16+ hookahs seem to have more flavor than the cheaper ones. Expect to spend good money for flavors you can actually taste. Don’t come hungry though, cause they don’t serve food.
