Best furniture shopping experience ever! I often liken buying furniture to buying a car. It’s always a pain, you wonder if you could get a better price elsewhere, haggling gets real old real quick, etc. Well Sofa Design changed my perspective. Ed is an excellent salesperson and business owner. I was impressed with the prices, quality of the furniture, and the fabric options. Ed has an incredible eye for color and pattern and has awesome suggestions. The showroom itself has extraordinary variety for inspiration. I walked away with a combination for my living room that would make any decorator proud and felt good about the price. Can’t ask for much more than that.

1^st experience: Loved how knowledgeable the salesman was (owners son), but they are rather pricey (won’t haggle), although quality was great. Found my favorite sofa here. ⁴⁄₅ star experience
2^nd experience: Returned to discuss purchasing the sofa, yet couldn’t find anyone in the store to talk to. 15 minutes later, I had to search the back room for an employee who started off saying that she didn’t know what she was doing bc she’s part-​time, & to come back 4 days later. She didn’t know anything about the product, but interrupted me & called her boss to see if it was OK I was taking a pic of the sofa tag for the dimensions. She was talking about me (20 ft away) like I was a criminal, & my gf wanted to leave before she even got off the phone bc of how unprofessional she was. Left the store disgusted & decided to wait to buy a sofa bc I wouldn’t give them business. ⁰⁄₅ experience if possible.

We had been in virtually every furniture store in the Richmond area when Sofa Design came up in our search. We weren’t crazy about the quality of the furniture in the other stores and we had a tight budget. Ed did an outstanding job of keeping us in our price range, showing us options that made sense for our lifestyle (durable, we have 2 kids) and not pressuring us a bit. We left very impressed with how these owners do business. All of their furniture is 100% American made and the quality far outshines the big name stores. We were able to get everything we needed (plus an amazing leather chair!) and stay within our budget.

Stopped in today after several weeks of looking at other ‘big name’ stores. Don’t waste your time at other places — you can spend the exact same amount of money here and get far better quality (and American made!) My fiancée worked in the furniture business some years ago in NC, and he and the owner chatted for a while… it’s clear this family owned business knows their stuff.
They sell really well known and high quality brands, and have a great selection with tons of options. I loved their fabric choices, and we’re looking for leather, and they sell high quality leather items.
We didn’t purchase a sofa yet, but we did pick up a gorgeous side table that was on clearance. We will definitely be back when it’s time to buy.

Wow! Who knew buying a sofa could be so easy. Good prices, and you pick the frame, fabric and legs. No what you see is what you get here. Ed was a fast, no pressure sales consultant with loads of knowledge.
