Modern Tattoo Ltd.

It’s taking me finally a few years to write this review but this has been the worst tattoo shop and experience with tattoos of my life. The only good thing to say is that the shop itself is very clean and cool décor. The workers were also very nice except the tattoo artist in the beginning.
So I should have known never to go to a tattoo shop that sells groupons for a deal on tattoos. Bought the groupon and went into the shop and originally wanted «Pops» son to do the tattoo but somehow he ended up scheduling me for a week later. I scheduled the appointment during a week day and took off a half day to get the tattoo. I wanted a cover-​up tattoo and Pops told me I only had 2 options. A huge ass fish or this Jerry Sailor lady. I should have known when an artist can only come up with 2 different ideas for my cover up I should have ran because since the tattoo I’ve had several artists look at it and give me great design ideas I could’ve used. But I didn’t and made the appointment.
I show up on my appointment day and remember I took off work for this. He didn’t even remember having an appointment and tried to reschedule me. I complained and told him I took off work for this so then i’m sure he felt obligated now to do the tattoo. From the start I didn’t’ like the feeling of how this whole experience was going. I chose the Jerry sailor lady tattoo and it was incredibly painful. I have many tattoos and i’m all for pain and can deal with it great. But he rubbed my tattoo dry every time he went to work on the tattoo. i mean rubbed rare! I cried a bit and i can handle a lot of pain.
The tattoo itself doesn’t look good. He put red in the ladies nostril so looks like she has a bloody nose. part of the eye is off her face. I look at it every day and hate it and it’s too dark and big to get covered up. My skin in most of the tattoo looks like beat up meat so I only hope I can get this laser removed soon.
I had heard such great things about this shop and Pops but I got the bad end of the stick. Don’t ever go to a tattoo shop that has a groupon is my lesson learned and when your gut feeling says run then RUN!!!
Update 7÷29÷15: By the owners comment you can tell what kind of business this tattoo shop is. Instead of caring about their clients they try to pull my review off as fake. I don’t know who the guy that was originally supposed to do my tattoo, son or not. Doesn’t take away from the fact I have a hideous tattoo I will forever be ashamed of for the rest of my life. I have to wear long sleeve shirts most of the time to hide it. You don’t care about that do you? The owners comments says it all, they obvious don’t care about their clients and rather just try to defend themselves and report my review as fake. That’s the difference between a great tattoo parlor vs. some tattoo shop in North Chicago. Good luck with your business.
Also the owner is a complete liar saying they don’t do Groupons, well you did in 2010 when I got the tattoo. Little do they know, my Groupon has all my history of my Groupon purchases, even all the way back to 2010. I can easily post a picture of the groupon. Wow this place just needs to be reported to the BBB.

Just got a great hand tattoo from artist jason. I had great service here. Walked in showed them what i had in mind, next day came back they showed me what they had done and it turned out great. I will be returning. Oh one thing they need discount cards for army also just not navy or just a military in general discount. They also have a nice large shop with excellent parking.

THIS PLACE SUCKS! My whole tat is blown out, over priced, dude has heavy hand, dog is always in parlor, people that work here are dirty literally! Way better places to go just down the road! In libertyville… If you want to pay way to much and have your tat look like a 4 year old did it go here! I went back here for a touch up. In the tattoo was no better I ended up having to get a total cover up, the owner is rude, inconsiderate, and treat people like the scum of the earth. This tattoo parlor regularly has hard drug use that is done by the artist! There always appear and function as if they are high! The last thing I would want is someone to touch my body with a needle after consuming illegal drugs and this does happen at this establishment!
