Gave this place chance after chance because it’s conveniently local to us and friends. The service continues to sink lower and lower each time we drop in. We usually come in to meet friends after work during happy hour to chat over a few beers. They have about eight taps and feature craft brews on at least half of them. The bartenders have no knowledge about the product and can’t explain where the beer comes from or what the beer characteristics are like. So why bother carrying craft brew if the manager/owner doesn’t educate the staff on the product so they can sell it to the patrons? On our last visit to the Rathskeller, the bartender was inarticulate about the beer selection. The pours were terrible and presented to us with at least two inches of foam. We had to wait ten minutes for her to acknowledge us at the bar. The bar was half occupied at the time: that’s how slow she was. Other patrons weren’t happy with their drinks. They asked for her signature drink and she made what she called a Blue Smurf. They complained to us about the cocktail, had a sip then left the rest of the drink. Bartender was unprofessional. She alternated between sitting on the refrigeration equipment to chat with buddies at the bar or disappearing. Yes, she simply left the bar. Someone was definitely smoking in the kitchen. Speaking of kitchen, the food was bland and not sure if the bartender took our order incorrectly but there was a minor mistake. We ordered Chicken Fingers with Buffalo Wing Hot Sauce but got the Honey Mustard sauce. No biggie but the chicken was under seasoned as was the Ahi Tuna Salad.
