The Actor’s Workout Studio is a workout community for actors of all ages and backgrounds.

We also rent out the theater for auditions, productions, classes and film projects.

History

Established in 1987.

Class at AWS is for the serious professional actor, where each actor works every class. Our reputation is in «troubleshooting actors’ blocks». Classes are also based on the Meisner technique.

Small, intimate classes allow for individualized coaching for each actor’s specific needs. We address your strengths and weaknesses, working to deepen your access to your most valuable acting asset: your emotional and physical self.

Through exercises, improv, cold reading, and in-​depth scene work, we help you discover

what’s holding you back, and how to reach higher levels of expression and emotional truth in your work.

We offer beginning through master classes. Studio members participate in productions, invited scene nights, play readings, and self-​produce their own projects.

Meet the Business Owner

Fran M.

Business Owner

Fran’s small, intimate classes allow for individualized and personal teaching. His teaching style is based on the famed Meisner Technique, as taught by the late Edward Kaye-​Martin. Students receive the intensity and attention of a private acting coach in a group setting, and gain feedback from Fran as well as the AWS community to enhance their strengths and transcend their limitations.

Fran first arrived in LA over 25 years ago. He booked steady tv roles and appeared in numerous films and commercials. He has performed in countless stage productions and is well established in the LA indie theater and film communities, having been recognized with Artistic Director Achievement awards from the LA Valley Theater League, multiple Drama-​Logue Awards, two Telly Awards, a Cine Golden Eagle Award and an Emmy.

Fran’s background in acting, producing and theater makes him an ideal resource for actors in Los Angeles to find their own way toward authenticity and success in their craft and careers.
