I had a great experience with Dr. Lewis! She was kind and knowledgeable and was very helpful when my insurance was giving me issues. The whole staff is wonderful :)

If I could give Dr. Lewis than one star I would! Dr. Lewis performed a root canal and a tooth filling several years ago. The tooth with the root canal and tooth with the filling were next to each other. I kept having pain for several weeks after the procedure and she just told me to take over the counter pain meds, that the pain would eventually go away. After being in horrific pain I decided to go to a different dentist. The new dentist got me in right away and told me that the tooth she filled should have been a root canal all along. Nice work!
I continued to have problems with the tooth she performed the root canal on and had to have the tooth re-​treated by a specialist, who told me she broke a file in my tooth. Although he said it was pretty common the dentist is required to tell the patient. Now the tooth is infected yet again and I have to have oral surgery to have it removed! Who do you think has to pay for it?! So I paid for the original root canal by her, the re-​treatment of that root canal because of the infection the file caused and now oral surgery to remove the file! Does this seem fair?!

She and her staff are wonderful and I never feel like they’re trying upsell me on anything.

5 stars for Dr. Lewis, but the woman who did my cleaning was absolutely awful! Roughest cleaning of my life! I flinched about ten times and finally told her that my gums have NEVER bled so much during a cleaning! I think she finally got the hint and was a bit more gentle. I wish I had spoken up sooner, but you’d think she would know how to do this. I would honestly never see her again. Unfortunately I forget her name, but she had an accent, European I believe. She was so rough and had such frenzied movements with the tools she used. I was so disappointed because Dr. Lewis seems wonderful. I’m not sure if the woman who did my cleaning is the only hygienist, but if she is I will not be back. Please re-​train this woman to use a more gentle technique!!! I still have cuts in my mouth :(

Dr. Lewis is the most attentive caring dentist I’ve ever been to. Had my first appointment today and she made me feel like I’d been coming there for years. Her whole staff is attentive and incredibly nice. So glad to have found a great place that’s so close!

I have been going to the same dentist all of my life. So when I moved out to LA my expectations were high. I’ve never had a cavity, only needing routine cleanings. After trying out a dentist in Van Nuys and being told I needed to have a preventative filling, I did a lot of research and found Dr. Lewis.
I’ve been really pleased with her practice and have been going here for the last couple of years. She does not try to do sell you any unnecessary dental work. They seem to be one of the few places who take the time to clean your teeth by hand instead of using a machine.
Dr. Lewis is very caring and gets to know her patients. Her staff is thorough and know that they are doing. I’m so happy I’ve found a place where I can continue to receive great dental care.

When I first came to town I had an issue with one of my teeth, and due to the fact that I have dentist anxiety x10, with the pain threshold of a baby kitten and a tolerance to novocaine that would knock out an elephant, I let it go… Bad idea! Since we were new to the area (and our jobs) the insurance hadn’t kicked in yet, I checked out Unilocal and (like you), read the reviews and saw the stars, so I gave her a shot… Dr. Lewis and was BEYOND AMAZING! She is very caring, calming, and extremely good at what she does. She actually came in on a Saturday, just to see me! And I wasn’t even a patient of hers at the time!
The office is tucked away, so it’s a little (okay a LOT) difficult to find, and it isn’t the most inviting looking place, but don’t be fooled. The care is phenomenal. Honestly. I will keep going back to her, even if she’s out of my network on my insurance. Thanks Dr. Lewis!

Dr. Lewis is the best dentist that I have had while being in Los Angeles. I called there office because I had the glue come off of my ortho band on my lower teeth. They were able to get me in 15 minutes later without a hitch! I have definitely found my dentist!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Lewis this week and I was so pleased with her and her staff. Very professional. Great care. Wonderful office. Great location. I recommend to everyone!

I went to Dr Lewis after reading the positive reviews on here and all of them were right!
All of the dentists in this area had bad reviews so I was a little scared to find someone new in my area. Dr. Lewis was the greatest!!! So nice, professional, and easy going. The office staff are nice and professional as well. I’ve never waited in the lobby for more than five minutes. And the hygienists are extremely helpful.
Something I think is important– after my great experience there my husband made an appointment. He needed more work done and Dr. Lewis discussed with him his options and the cost of each. I saw a lot of complaints about other dentists in the area and their charging patients too much or recommending expensive dental care– and Dr. Lewis is absolutely not like that.

I’d recently moved into the Toluca Lake area and was trying to find a reputable dentist nearby. I turned to Unilocal and found Dr. Lewis’ office. After several visits, I can recommend her offer and staff wholeheartedly. They are professional, courteous, and work with people with busy schedules like myself.
In addition, Dr Lewis and her hygienists are extremely thorough. They make sure you understand what they are doing and what you can expect to happen, along with discussing your overall dental health with you.
My only issue is their parking lot. It is located behind the practice, can be hard to find if you are a new patient, and fills up during busy times of day. Make sure you head over there a little early so you can grab a spot or there are always meter spots located on Lankershim.

Unilocal was such an aid in helping me choose the perfect local dentist. I like the homey feel of the waiting room and the exceedingly friendly staff including Donna Lewis herself. Encourage you to schedule an appointment if you’re looking for a dentist.

Who would have ever thought to give a dentist 5 stars? Not me! However, after searching high and low for the right dentist, and very randomly… I went with my intuition and found the right one.
I find Unilocal to be amazing for stuff like this. All good reviews for Dr. Lewis. So, why wouldn’t I go to her? I had a cracked tooth that was a root canal. I was so scared about picking a random place to go since I just moved to Los Angeles. I called Dr. Lewis’ office first got a quote and panicked since I am unemployed right now. So I ended up calling about 12 other places and of course after all that, I went back to calling Dr. Lewis and making an appointment. The reason why I am even telling you all of this is because I want you to get an understanding about how HAPPY I am that I made the choice that I did!
The office is a nice little quaint place. It’s clean, intimate and everyone there is super duper friendly and helpful. The worst thing is feeling uncomfortable at the dentist. They took an x-​ray and Dr. Lewis understood my financial situation and explained that she was going to help me out as much as she could with this stupid tooth! She was so friendly and easy going. So easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with her and not afraid at all. Always smiling and can easily hold a conversation with me. I like people like this!
As long as I am living in L.A. Dr. Lewis will be my dentist. I feel I can trust her and she is a very gentle person who actually cares!

Dr. Lewis is the best. I went to her for one cleaning once years and years ago then moved to Hollywood, got terrible insurance and found someone close to me. Big, huge, expensive mistake. Needless to say when I moved back to NoHo I leaped at the opportunity to go back.
The staff are awesome. From the desk to the hygienist to, probably, the gardeners. I dunno. They are great. I had some crappy fillings from the aforementioned dentist that had to come out and be replaced… no pain, no nothing. I also had to have some work done on fillings that are on the front of my teeth (tell your kids when they have braces the regimen is for real, no joke!)

Dr. Lewis is the best dentist in the state of California. And she is almost certainly the nicest person in any state of any country in any world.
Seriously. She is that amazing. Walking by the little pond on your way in the door prepares you for this experience. I’m not saying I’d like to go there everyday, but I’m saying that in the land of dentists, Dr. Lewis is queen. If every dentist learned from her, there would be no more dentist jokes.
She is honest, she really seems to care. The place isn’t super-​high tech, the waiting room isn’t decorated «all-​fancy” – it’s just a local dentist office with caring people. I wish I could have brought her with me when I moved!

BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
Dr. Lewis and her whole crew are incredibly sweet, caring and professional. The hygienist (I’m so sorry to have forgotten her name!) was both gentle and quick, scraping away years of plaque while somehow making the process enjoyable. (By the way, I totally agree with J W about the numbing gel! How is this not standard everywhere?! I know it’s crazy to say this, and you probably won’t believe me, but numbing gel actually makes a cleaning feel GOOD!)
As someone who has what I’d describe as a mild fear of dentistry (and really, who doesn’t?) Dr. Lewis made me feel relaxed. Her whole demeanor (charming, fairy godmother-​esque) is very soothing. I left her office with two new appointments: one in six months for another cleaning, and one next week for what she adorably called a «touch up». That probably means drilling of some sort, but somehow I’m OK with that. Based on this last visit, I’d let this lady drill in my head any time.
If you are looking for a dentist, look no further.

I am ashamed to say that before I made a visit to Dr. Lewis last week, I hadn’t been to the dentist in years. I spent the majority of my childhood in and out of dentists offices, and have spent countless hours in dental chairs; having oral surgeries, periodontal surgeries, you name it… so to say I have a fear of the dentist office is an understatement. I’ve been delaying the inevitable for that fear of «Oh god how much is this going to cost me/​how much is this going to hurt?!?»
After chipping a front tooth, I had no choice but to find a dentist in LA, since I have yet to find one since moving to this city. I found Dr. Lewis through my insurance provider and consulted this very Unilocal page… where I found tons of comforting and glowing reviews.
Upon my arrival, I was reassured to know that every positive review was correct and not exaggerated. Not only was Dr. Lewis so nice and warm to me, but her assistant Christy was so sweet and calming to my anxiety, being extra careful and attentive to make sure I was ok. They really calmed my fears, and I was happy to hear I had a cavity and it was «no big deal».
They worked with me to make two separate appointments to accommodate my busy work schedule, so that I can have my filling one week and a cleaning the next.
I’m really happy that I found a great dentist and cannot recommend her (and her wonderful assistant) more highly.

Thanks to Dr. Lewis, I now know about NUMBING GEL!!! Good lord, how can my previous dentists sleep at night making me suffer for decades dread dread dreading going to the dentist??? They never ONCE offered me numbing gel! Stuff tastes awful but who cares. I don’t have dental insurance, so its a good chunk of change, but less than others I’ve tried. And soooo worth no pain!
