Description

Specialties

Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) in the Valley is part of a worldwide church that unites the Christian family from many diverse religious beliefs under one roof. We recognize that God unifies people in mysterious ways for a greater purpose. MCC understands its leadership and role in faithfully proclaiming God’s inclusive love for all people. We serve as a witness of God’s radically inclusive love for everyone. We believe in a spiritual journey full of love, laughter, compassion, and peace-making.

History

Established in 1972.

We are part of a worldwide movement of the MCC denomination founded by Rev. Troy Perry in Huntington Park, California, in 1968, the year before Stonewall. In 1972, a small group of folks from «over the hills» decided to form a second congregation in the San Fernando Valley. We originally met at the Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (The Onion) on Haskell Ave., then moved to a small hall on Victory Blvd, and finally came to our present location on Cahuenga Blvd in the late 1970’s. Our services have changed over the years, as have our Pastors and congregation. We currently have only one liturgical service at 10:30am with a contemporary praise band. Bit as more Yelp*ers join us, we hope to expand to more services!
