I have a weakness for hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop places that serves good food — good tacos that is. This place is easy to miss driving by North bound on Lankershim Blvd just don’t pass Victory blvd. And the tiny restaurant is on the left hand side. Street parking. Today I only ordered tacos because that’s what I was craving. The carnitas(pork) was great, full of flavor and not dry. The Carne asada(beef) was not that great. The meat tasted flavorless and the beef just wasn’t good. The red and green salsas were excellent. This place is not the cleanest, but hey your getting what your paying for, so am not complaining. Service was good. Overall the tacos were good, but I had better. I will try something else here when am in the area.

Having been spoiled by taco trucks in Eagle Rock and Highland Park and little stands in Boyle Heights/East LA, I was excited to try this place out due to reviews. WHAT A WASTEOFMONEY. Al Pastor tacos? Nope. Ok, I’ll get carnitas… No dice! They were out of pork. In fact they were were pretty much out of everything. Our only choices were asada, cabeza, and chicken… We got a burrito and tacos to go. As soon as we took the foil off the taco plate, I looked down to find a plate of 5 asada tacos with nothing on them! No onions, no cilantro, no limes, nothing. Just meat… and lots of grizzle. Luckily I had a lone onion at home to chop up for the tacos. —been trying to post a picture, but Unilocal is not functioning properly right now so I’ll post later if I remember.

Best tacos in town! It’s cheap, maybe it doesn’t look that clean from the outside but it’s worth it.

This is a one and done for me. I had some al pastor tacos, as recommended here, and an asada burrito. As is typical with hole in the wall Mexican places, the amount of salt they used was plentiful, except here, they went overboard. I could tell the pastor was great, and with a well grilled tortilla, it was fantastic. UNTIL, you get the excessive salt taste after digging in. The burrito could have been good, but the amount of salt was off the chain. I ate it but didn’t love it. Extra minus points — I asked if she could throw in a little lettuce to the burrito and she tried to charge me a dollar for it! LOL. Aside from the fact that there is very little parking, this is a place a mostly avoid.

Jaun is the bomb and his al pastor is off the chain! Some of the best tacos I’ve had in LA.

Since we moved out of our old neighborhood and left our beloved hole-in-the-wall Mexican spot behind we’ve been looking for a worthy replacement in North Hollywood, and now we’ve found it! This place is so yummy. I got the asada burrito and my boyfriend got the pastor burrito. The meat with well marinated and the flavor and textures in the burrito were on point. It was the perfect size to satisfy but not overstuff you. They had slabs of pork roasting on a spit over a fire right by the cash register. It’s that fresh! On top of that, the cashier and cook were both extremely nice and asked us how our food was. Top-notch service for a hole-in-the-wall place. We look forward to coming back often and trying the other dishes they have to offer.

Enjoyed this little stand a lot. I had tacos(asada, al pastor) and the quesadilla. Delicious food at insane prices. The condiment bar was great, especially the salsa verde. Service was friendly and quick. I’m new to Noho and I’m glad I found this place because I’ll definitely be back.

The girl at the counter was kinda cute and that’s all this place has going for it. Somebody said«the carne asada tacos are out of this wold» yep if you like tacos with extraterrestrial meat in them. I like my carne asada fresh off the grill. Here it sits in a container cold. They heat up the soft tacos a bit and that’s about it. The meat tasted old. Not recommended.

Yup this place is good !! Try the chile Verde yummy !!! Pastor tacos different but still good, asada tacos sooo good. It’s a old school street taco spot. So sad I probably won’t be back to this area for a while, but when I do I’ll take another walk and stop by.

How do words explain the appreciation for the man of few words who runs this place. Definitely the most accommodating place with excellent pastor and generous tortas! I’ll be back twice this week already!

This place is decent for cheap & fast tacos(I’ve also had the burrito & taquitos) but it’s nothing to write home about. Get the al pastor when it’s hot or else the meat will be dry & chewy(like when I got a burrito). Would like if there were more options for dressing the tacos(like pico de gallo). But you can’t beat cheap street tacos open late really close to your house! The barbacoa was bomb tonight.

Literally my fave taco place. Stahp… being so good! XD All of the meats I’ve tried, al pastor, buca(?? don’t remember – I think that is stomach), carnitas, asada, etc. are amazeballs. Their salsa is very fresh. The lady is very nice and I notice when you buy an asston of tacos she throws in some of these chip things with bean on them(?). I don’t know what they are but they are delicious too. The other plus as that they are open late so if you are having a hankering for tacos late night, come on down here and try them. The prices are cheap and still amazing. I do want to try their other non-taco fare as it also looks really good!

This is the best Al Pastor i’ve ever had and I come here just for that now. The seasoning is unique. I think they put a little cinnamon in there, but i’m not entirely sure… It gives it an almost mediterranean flavor. They slice it and sear it on the flat top with pineapple. Occasionally, the pineapple is left out, which is devastating to say the least. I’ve learned to specifically ask for the pastor tacos with pineapple. tacos al pastor con pina. Like ten of them thangs. They’re so legit. But the pineapple is essential. Green sauce is good, red sauce is decent. I prefer just cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime. Lots of lime. The other food is good as well, but this place gets 4 stars for al pastor alone. tacos, burritos, tortas, whatever. as long as it’s the al pastor. Also, i have no idea what the hours are here, but i don’t think i’ve ever seen it closed. At least try it. You have nothing to lose but your girlish figure.

Check the Unilocal reviews about how good there tacos are, so decided to try it out. The place is located in the heart of North Hollywood. Their restaurants is next to a auto repair shop. Basically a hole in the wall restaurant. Since this was our first time here We didn’t want to try to much and glad we didn’t We ordered Tripas taco and Asada taco. The Tripas wasn’t cook it rite. I had my share of the tripas tacos before and it’s my favorite and these wasn’t great. All the places I tried usually make it crispy. This place was very chewy. So pass on this one. Their asada taco wasn’t the best. I had way better else where plus it was chewy and tasteless. The salsa didn’t help either. Sorry Taqueria La Chispita this was one and done.

La Chispeta es un lugar fantástico! Que rico los tacos y las salsa. Que hermosa son los dueños. Y los precios son bonitos también! Si estas casi cerca de este taquearía, va a comer!!! I love this taco place. If you are in the valley, make a point to stop here. Great service, friendly people and fantastic food at a fair price. This combination is impossible to resist. Tons of businesses can learn from their example.
