This store is huge! It keeps going. And going. There were plenty of gifts here, but most did have some religious connotation. For example, my friend was looking for a gift for a coworker. There were really cute flower pots with sayings painted on them for 50% off, but we both agreed the«God made you perfect» saying wouldn’t be appropriate. The selection really is immense. However, we both felt a little offended while shopping there. It seemed that the merchandise played to several stereotypes, including Republican, patriotic, and Christian single woman own cats. It’s true-we can’t tell you how many books we saw about cats. We got excited when we saw a section of the books labeled«Single Living.» We rounded the corner to see 5 rows of books about parenting. We felt a slap in the face, like«good Christians must procreate.» Granted, that was our words, not the store’s. But still! So, my friend confronted the employee about the discrepancy. The employee said there should be one row of books on the single life. We eventually did find the row(a total of 5 books). All 4 of the five books were about woman waiting to have sex until marriage. The fifth book was about«drawing lines in the sand while dating.» I didn’t realize«the single life» meant«keep it zipped.» The children’s section was really expansive and I will have to come back with my nephew is older. There was also a section of church supplies where you can buy everything you need for communion. There were several books, not on cats(although I do like cats), or Sarah Palin, Laura Bush, or parenting that looked really interesting. One was an autobiography by a Canadian woman who grew up in a Hutterite community. I didn’t know what Hutterite was either. But now I do! Items carried: Cds – this is the biggest selection of Christian music I have ever seen. Books – not just bibles. There are tons of books on spirituality, parenting, living life in general. There are also novels, including a series about King David’s wives. That was weird. Church supplies – baskets to take offerings, choir robes, wafers.
