Goodwill Store

This store price gouges on clothes with new tags or if something is name brand. I saw a sweater with new tags that was originally $199.00 and they wanted $99.00. Name brand shoes even if the soles were cracked all the way thru and I forgot to turn them over they sell for $15 to $20 a pair. Clothes that have holes in them such as wool, and they are very hard to see. The other stores in the area only charge the same amount for all sweaters, tops or any other clothing. Shoes only cost $6 or $7.00 a pair.

Was there yesterday and had checked some of these reviews so went with low expectations. Was very pleased to find that the people there were extremely polite. Twice I was asked if I needed help and the people working checkout could not have been any nicer. Will you find hidden treasures here, probably not. Will you find some cool things? I did, like a great Irish vase, milk glass and even a blue danube piece that was cool. Was $ 4 too much for the blue danube piece? Ah, no. Was $ 2 two much for the little milk glass vase? Ah, no. Was the expensive piece, the Irish vase worth gasp, $ 25. Maybe not. But the closet thing I found to it on the interweb was $ 60. C’mon people, this is goodwill and just because it is goodwill does not mean you should go steal stuff.
If you are looking for normal goodwill stuff you will be pleased to find a good selection of kitchen stuff, great lamps and a great selection of clothes. Ah, I am currently wearing an American Eagle tee that somebody cast off. I paid an outrageous $ 4 for it. My guess is that American Eagle originally had it marked $ 20 plus. Yeah, I like castoffs.

I love thrifting. I go to many thrift stores EVERYWHERE!

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a thrift store I have been to alot !! Well it started off with a lot of snotty employs that weren’t to friendly and then I found something with no tag and ask them to price it and they put 15 $ for a duffle bag that is all scraped up!!! let alone every thing is over price and it is very messy. BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME EVER

The workers here are rude exspecially MEAN OLD JOSIE and the annoying phils mother that comes in the store and never buys nothing ugh and merchandise is overpriced cost more then a retail store! Then you have alot of merchandise with no price! My 7 year old daughter brought a doll to the register the worker snatched it and told her no price no buy ! Goodwill is suppose to help family’s unfortunate that cant spend alot of money and at least have prices on the merchandise also the ELECTRONICS here are way over priced to not have a exchange or refund!

I love going to thrift stores because I love snagging great deals so I have been plenty of goodwills in the area. This one is the worst one I have ever been to. First of all the prices in here seem to be much higher than other locations. My friend went to purchase a pair of heels and we stood and waited to check out for ten minutes. We decided just to leave because it wasn’t that great of a deal. We gave the shoes to the cashier politely and said never mind. The cashier threw the shoes on the floor and rudely said have a nice day. Won’t be returning.

I am a true vintage addict. I have had a bit of good luck at this location. Fire King, Jadeite, etc. sure, it can be pricy… but I am patient enough to wait for the price drop unless it’s rare. Books… YES please! The prices have finally dropped to a buck. Nancy Drews for a buck? Oh Yeah! Clean and well lit. Friendly associates.

I love this place because of all the sweet people that work there and occasionally I can find really good deals and steals but the prices are overall rather high here. They have furniture out in the front currently that they listed for $ 250! For a small dresser. Yeah I get it’s an antique but these are DONATED goods for charity and that price is way too steep. I still continue to go because I support my local goodwill.

It’s time for an update on this store, since a lot has changed over the years. They have been at this location for four years. It’s true that you’ll never find anything really valuable — Goodwill must pay people to look through the donations and anything worth money is sold on the Internet. I don’t approve of that, because we always donated good stuff to Goodwill with the intention of helping the poor and the disadvantaged — it was always a nice thought to think that your donated silver or your good jewelry or antique whatever was going to go to someone who couldn’t otherwise afford it.
To give them credit, they do some good things here. They don’t deface the records (see reviews of other thrifs like Salvation Army, who actually ruin all their donated vinyl). They don’t ruin expensive clothing by putting holes or staples in the lapels. So bravo for that.
But the problem this Goodwill has is they tend to think the junk they do put out for people is worth much more than it is. Junky cameras that are only of use to a 16 year old who wants to learn how film works, and they’re $ 30. Worthless paintings with a $ 40 price tag. Used, stained shirts for $ 6.
All that above would merit a 3 star review. And if they lowered the prices just a tad, they would surely get 4. So why a 1? Because effective this week, they jacked the prices by 150% on everything. That’s right! Seriously? Come on people, that stupid coffee mug and that chipped plate and that drinking glass over there, that’s worth a quarter at best. You should be glad people paid you a dollar. I don’t think too many people are going to spend a dollar fifty on coffee mugs, t-​shirts, records, books, and all that other small-​time junk you have. It’s ok to get a cheap camisole or running shorts or whatever for the dollar special, but remember these closed are USED, and I’m not going to pay that much more for it. They have a lot more staff now, too, so I wonder what’s going to happen here.

One of my favorite thrifts. Items are a little more pricey but they are of better value. The clothing, shoe, books, knick knacks, glassware and bedding depts are typically very well stocked. The display cabinets at the front of the store always have treasure. I bought a small antique fire proof safe here once. They are also one of the only goodwill stores that usually have a few instruments for sale as well as finer collectibles at the front of the store.

This is a pretty large Goodwill and I have found a lot of great things here. I buy a lot of clothing as well as kitchen items and occasional paintings, frames, chairs, etc. It’s god a really great selection. This is my main thing that I want from a Goodwill.
It’s not perfect, of course. It’s not very clean and the staff usually works crazy slow. But I don’t know why you’d expect otherwise. Goodwill hires people who have trouble finding work. Sometimes they are disabled or just don’t have any job skills. I try to be patient because I know Goodwill is providing work for those who wouldn’t have it otherwise. The staff is always super nice, you just might have to wait a while when checking out!

This Goodwill is close to my work. Every couple months I go check it out during lunch. It’s fine. A little over-​priced but clean. I like looking at vintage clothes, this location does not have a very good selection.

I’ve been to the new goodwill location a couple of times and came out with nothing. Yeah this one is much bigger, but just awful, overpriced items. A bed set that was used and very old looking was $ 75! The desks there were around $ 50 – 80. I know I could find brand new household items at Target for cheaper and they aren’t used.
As far as clothing goes, I have had better luck at Value World. I won’t waste my time at Goodwill any longer.

At one time, Goodwill was a great place to find treasures. But now that all Goodwills sell their «best» items online, they leave the junk in the store for shoppers. Interesting that Goodwill is supposed to sell items to those who can’t afford retail and yet here they are selling the decent stuff online. How much of the profit now goes into paying people to research, post, and pack items sold on the internet?

Not the best thrift store I’ve been to by a long shot. Well lit and semi clean feeling, but extremely over priced with a very lame selection. Only upside was a semi okay selection of board games.

I should explain my rubric when it comes to thrift stores. The criteria include:
Ease of Shopping or, if you’re in a «glass is half empty» type of mood, «Level of Annoyance»
If you’ve ever been to a store and had to dodge customers pouring through stacks of china or bins of accessories, only to finally find what you want and see it has no price sticker, you know what I’m talking about. Thrift stores shouldn’t be the next Running of the Brides at Filene’s Basement. I don’t want to feel like I have to join the frenzy in order to find anything of value.
Cleanliness
After leaving a store I don’t want to leave feeling like I’m going to fail every TB test I take from now on. Smells? Stinks? Oozy floors? These will bring down the Cleanliness rating.
Desirability of Items
I realize this is highly subjective, but so is shopping. When I thrift, I’m looking for unique items that might be vintage, items that don’t lose their usefulness just because they’ve had more than one owner, and things I’d only buy if I could find cheap, like Halloween costume pieces. If I’m going to dig through someone’s trash, the goods had better be worth it.
Price
I’ll add another clause to that last statement: If I’m going to dig through someone’s trash, the goods had better be worth it, and cheaper than I could buy it new, or from a prettier shopping environment.
This Goodwill in Fairview Park has a huge parking lot, offering the ability to pop in and out so you can make a quick check for whatever you’re looking for. This is really nice for thrift shopping novices around Halloween time. The store itself is very large, offering a decent selection of housewares and a huge selection of clothing. The dressing room is in the front of the store. When you enter the store, make sure you check out the board announcing the sale colors. The non-​sale prices on most of the merchandise is outrageous for a Cleveland area thrift store. Every time I stop in I think «world’s most expensive Goodwill.» Seriously, absolute crap will be labeled $ 5.
Ease of Shopping 1.5 star!
Cleanliness .5 star! Visibly, this store is clean. However, it has a musty odor and I’m always sneezing and my nose gets stuffy when I’m in there.
Desirability of Items 1 star!
Price 0 star! I would take away a star if I could.

I need Goodwill. And now that the Lorain Road Goodwill store moved a half mile east into an old grocery store with a huge car park, Goodwill has lots-​o-​more-​room to display its useful wares. Since I don’t live in the Cleveland area, my needs are sporadic. And Goodwill fills my sporadic needy needs.
I needed a DVD player and picked up a high-​end Sony player for $ 15. I needed an RCA patch cord and picked one up for 75 cents. I needed a sports-​radio once and picked one up for a dollar (including headphones). I needed a rain jacket for golf and picked one up for $ 3 (…Lakewood Country Club… how tony!).
Sometimes I go to Goodwill when I don’t need anything because you find so many random things. The next time I visit I hope to find me a nice random shirt with some cool embroidery. The Terminal Tower would be nice.
