I bought a Living Social or Groupon type deal for the Ready Set Sew class which teaches you how to use a sewing machine. I’ve never had a clue how to use a sewing machine and was totally intimidated by it, but the instructor, Jeanine, and the small class size really helped remove my general terror that I would look like an idiot and/or sew my finger to something causing a traumatic bloodbath for me and everyone else. They offer a bunch of classes teaching you how to do things such as quilting or embroidery and making specific projects like a t-shirt quilt or tote bag. They also sell fabric, sewing machines, and a ton of other sewing, embroidery, and quilting stuff. Lots of things that a novice such as myself can’t identify. They’re moving to a larger space soon and will have larger area for classes. There were kids in my class as well as 30-somethings. It’d be fun to do a project class with a mom, friend, sister, etc. This location is in a small strip mall near Great Northern Mall so is currently easily accessible from 480 and had plenty of parking. There are other locations in the CLE area, I believe. Since it was a small class they book well in advance so don’t wait to register for whatever you want to sign up for.
