Plato’s Closet

Usually platos closet is cool but this location kinda sucks. I called before I came to make sure they were interested in buying what I have and they said they were but as soon as I walked in they told me they weren’t buying anything like what I have. Gee, glad I called ahead of time so didnt waste 45 mins driving. I think they just lied to me to get me in the store.

Before taking clothes to this location to sell, I called the store to ask about any stipulations for what containers/​bags the clothes may/​may not be brought to the store in (I once read an article that said Plato’s Closets can be picky about this so I wanted to make sure my re-​usable cloth shopping bag would be okay). A male answered the phone and this is how our conversation went.
«Well we have stipulations for what you can’t bring them into the store in.»
«Okay, what are those?»
«You can’t bring them in in trash bags. Because well that stuff is just trash. And I wouldn’t try to sell anything today. We’re having a store-​wide sale so you just won’t be taken care of.»
…So needless to say, I won’t be going to this location to buy or sell clothes. They clearly don’t want my business anyways, based off of his rudeness and recommendation NOT to bring them in more product that could potentially draw more revenue.

I like Plato’s closet a lot. Besides being on the more expensive side of resale, their prices land in the middle of higher end consignment shops and low end thrift stores. Stuff can be hit or miss. Sometimes I’ve gone in and gotten steals, and sometimes I’ve walked out of there empty handed. Some of their stuff is excellent quality, and some items are damaged or over-​worn. I can complain about the loud music, or that the place can use a little more upkeep, but really, who gives a shit about it when your at a second hand store. If you want a” shopping experience” go dick around at the mall.
Service is friendly. The girls there are always sweet and bubbly. Interesting to eavesdrop on their convoys whilst shopping. You just can’t help it.
As for their buying of used items, it’s hit or miss. Sometimes they’ve taken a lot of my junk. Sometimes they don’t take anything, but the cool thing is that they offer to take it off your hands and donate anything they don’t buy to VOA down the street which is super convenient for me.
For every review that’s having a fit that they aren’t buying your crap, they aren’t obligated to, and it shouldn’t reflect the business its self. It’s equally annoying to hear people bitch while I’m on the store trying to shop. If you’re too concerned with how much they’re «robbing» you for all your overpriced «designer» swag, sell it online, or god forbid: donate it.

The staff at this location are consistently rude — the Strongsville location has a better selection and staff.

Staff provided dismal service and even made faces at cloths that people dropped. Regardless they had a nice selection of jeans and I bought a few things. Staff get a thumbs down and selection gets a thumbs up.

Not impressed with the store, the clerks weren’t friendly nor did they try to talk to me at all. I brought in a few items to see if I could sell them before donating them and after a clerk shifted through my entire laundry bin she found one item worth buying. Then when I told them I wanted to donate the rest they seemed increasingly annoyed. Needless to say I won’t go back nor do I recommend this place to others.

I love this place but make sure you have a couple of hours to burn if you’re serious about finding some good deals. The tops are few and far between but this is the BEST place for jeans. You will need to try on about 50 pairs though. The size and fit vary so much between designers that you can be a 4 in one brand and a 10 in another.
Best bargain I ever found was a pair of 7even jeans for…$ 16!!! Amazing, I know.
I also go here for work clothes and just random odd and ends you’re looking for. It does take forever though. It’s organized pretty well by size and color but you really do have to try everything on! So cheap though, it’s worth it!

Honestly, it’s hit or miss for me. If I have something specific in mind I’ll come here. The other day I was looking for a pair of PINK sweatpants from Victoria’s Secret (because I was lucky enough to find a pair there awhile ago) and low and behold… I found another pair for $ 13! They are white and look brand new.
I usually hate going in here though, because it’s always a bunch of teenage girls who only want A&F clothing and will talk about you even if you walk by them the wrong way. BUT when I recently went in, there was a middle aged woman working who was really nice to me and she said to come back and bring some stuff in… So I did…
I went back today with three bags full of clothings/​purses/​jewelry and they bought back about one bags worth of stuff… Offered me $ 13.50 so I took it. I tried not to have any expectations. But hey I would not have even came back if it wasn’t for the nice sales person. But overall if you want a decent hoodie, pair of sweatpants, or a tank, I’d stop by… You just might get lucky!

I like the selection of this store this good to shop if money is tight or if you want to shop for some clothes that you need to get dirty in.
I also like the fact that you are able to buy back any clothes that you recently owned for cash. I have been there a couple of times when I had to clean out a bedroom before houseguests stayed over one night.
If the store already has a lot of their clothes that are brought back you will have to end up donating them to the goodwill or leave your donations at the front desk.

If you or your children are in their teens or simply fit into those sizes, and if you like cheap stuff, you’ll love this place.
Plato’s Closet is a great place to find clothes for teens, larger kids, or smallish adults. All the clothes are from name-​brands like Hollister, Aeropostalé, and Abercrombie & Fitch. There is a very large selection of tops, dresses, bottoms, and even things like shoes, bags, and jewelery. Granted, it could be a bit cleaner in the store itself, but the awesomeness of everything else cancels it out. I love shopping here, and I’m sure anyone else would, too.
