I love this place. Try the bunuelos! They are amazing. They always have fresh brewed coffee.

Awesome empanadas de queso and the conchas are excellent too! And with their friendly service, this place is a must try. Everyone in my office thought the bakery was simply outstanding!

This bakery is so much better than la reina bakery across the street. The breads there are stiff and flavorless while the breads here are so pillowy and so so so good. I’ve tried a lot of their stuff but my favorites are their pandebono, savory empanadas, and empanadas de queso. I’m not too sure what kind of cheese is in the empanada de queso but it’s nice and gooey and it’s stuffed in the center of a sweet dough. On top is a little sprinkling of sugar and it just makes the empanada that much better because it gives it that sweet and salty factor. This bakery is so good that I make it a point to come here after school every Friday or before a quartet rehearsal because the quartet members love it just as much as I do.

Not sure why this was not on Unilocal before my adding it with this review. It opened up a while ago in the location of the old German Deli /Butcher. I prefer this place over all the other Latin American bakeries on Somerset St(there are many). The the is a huge variety and everything thing tastes great,. One of the things that sets this place above the other Latin American bakeries in the area(besides the good tasting breads/sweets) is that most of the time there is an English speaking women behind the counter. She enthusiastically explain tastes, ingredients and origins of items you have questions about. There are many bread/sweets(with origins from different Central /South American countries to choose from. They also serve a good Columbia style beef empanada(from the hot lamp case and they will fry them up fresh). Coffee(any size) is only $ 1. The place is on corner of Race St. and Somerset St., across from the the North Plainfeld Townhall /Police Station. There is large commercial Philippine bakery with a retail store around the corner on Race St. Ii have not yet tried this place. it is on my list on places to try.
