Came here with my son a couple weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon and we had a blast ! It was old school, but we still had fun ! $ 10 for 30 minutes, can’t beat it ! My son is 5 so the 30 minutes is enough time before he gets bored. They do have bumpers if needed !

I used to come to this place years ago. It is hard to compete with the more upscale bowling alleys like kings and Juliana or boston bowl which stay open later, have updated décor, and night life entertainment that suites adults or teens. This place is better suited for young children during birthdays or friendly gatherings.

It’s hard to find candlepin bowling nowadays. This place is like a blast from the blast. It’s a no frills place. You come in, get your shoes, keep track of your own score, and pay by the hour. There is no snack bar, just vending machines. They also have a small arcade area. Candlepin bowling is fun for everyone, especially those who are normally sports challenged!

Now initially we were planning to go to Wakefield, but they were closing early. I figured since reading was close to Wakefield we could go here, since we’ve never gone before. Well it took a while to get there, but we finally got to Candlewood Lanes. This was a couple months ago, I think we went in March? I remember that I didn’t bowl so great though, I don’t think it was the pins though, I think I was just biting the big one that night. There was a league bowling and there were still plenty of lanes for us and others to bowl on, that’s always good. I hate when league bowling takes up an entire alley. I remember the staff being friendly and it was reasonably priced, I know it was by the hour and not the string. I think it was cash only though. Plenty of parking out in the lot, even with snow taking up some of it.

A old fashioned bowling alley that has candle pins and small balls. The staff here are very nice and accommodating to the group of disabled adult that I send every Thursday. $ 2.00 per string. Shoe rentals are not required.
