Founded by Dr. Lisa Mekka to address the need to provide cat owners with veterinary care options that didn’t require them to kennel their cats and transport them to a traditional animal clinic. (Kitties hate car rides!)

Business Owner

Dr. Lisa Mekka founded House Calls for Cats, LLC to make it easier for cat lovers in the Twin Cities region to provide their feline family members with the care they deserve. She holds a Doctorate from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine as well as Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Animal Behavior Psychology and Veterinary Life Sciences from Northland College.

Dr. Mekka has worked in veterinary clinics in both Maplewood and St. Paul, externed with feline-​only practices around the country, and has spent over a decade working and volunteering with various pet adoption agencies. She has special interests in feline medicine (of course!) as well as end-​of-​life care, behavior concerns and animal welfare. In addition to caring for her patients, Dr. Mekka currently belongs to the American Association of Feline Practitioners, volunteers for the Animal Humane Society of Minnesota, and tends to the whims of a house full of demanding cat children of her own.
