Osterman Propane

I am reviewing Osterman again to re-​state my rating of one star (which, I agree with other reviewers, really should be zero), because of a false and misleading response that an Osterman representative gave to my previous review. I had noted that Osterman charged me $ 60 just to do a final meter reading, with no gas or other service being provided. Osterman’s reply is as follows: «10÷16÷2015 Gordon, we are sorry you are dissatisfied with the service you received from Osterman Propane. This process was not explained to you clearly. When a tenant at an account with metered service moves, we send a representative out to do a final meter read. The final meter read accounts for the gas used between your last billing and the moment service is being terminated. During that period you used $ 60 worth of propane, which you were billed for. We are sorry for the confusion»
While I appreciate that they read these reviews and took the time to reply, that statement is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. This was in mid-​Summer, during which time I was being billed (and paying) around $ 18/​month just to keep a pilot light running on a furnace — there was NO other usage. I had paid every bill from Osterman promptly and in full, I owed them nothing. IF there was any additional usage between my final bill payment and the time of the meter reading, it would have been FAR less than $ 60. However, Osterman’s final statement on my account deducted $ 60 from my initial deposit of $ 150, with NO usage being noted to justify the charge. In addition, I have in my possession a ‘Customer Transaction Report’ from Osterman that shows the $ 60 charge with the note ‘charge to lock the meter’. By attempting to counter my previous review with false information, Osterman has made their negative rating even MORE deserved.
In addition, the final reading took place on August 26, 2015. As of October 17, Osterman has STILL not returned the $ 90 they owe me ($ 150 meter deposit minus $ 60 ‘charge to lock the meter’) — which is absolutely unacceptable, even if you concede that the $ 60 charge was justified.

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst service. Only delivered in my town once a week and if you missed that day, oh well you wait another week. Phone reps are rude and obnoxious. We left and went to a better company. Come right out and gave us a great tank. When we called to cancel service. They didn’t care. Even said it would be awhile to get the tank because so many people are canceling! Really? Wow.

Awful, awful, awful! I can’t say how disgusted I am with this company. I had two guys come from this company to check the broken meter on my tank and one guy was so incredibly rude and when I called him out and told the other guy how unprofessional he was; he said the guy was a little hyper. I don’t care, you don’t come to someone’s house and disrespect them on their own property. Never dealing with this company again, go elsewhere. The reviews speak for themselves. The only reason it got a star from me was because you had to.

What ever you do, DO NOT USE OSTERMAN, they charge a $ 60.00 fee annually if you do not refill the entire amount of propane with in the year. I only use propane for cooking, so when I purchased the house I was the usage was. I came home yesterday to find a tag on my door, they unplugged my propane tank that I fully paid in cash for. All because I did not pay the $ 60.00 fee this year, they never called to tell me they were diconnecting my gas either, I was furious, then I call them to get it put back on, mind you I own the gas in the tank that I paid for $ 400.00 in cash. and they are charging me a reconnect fee of $ 99.00 plus the $ 63.00 annually for having their tank on my property. Unreal as I purchased the gas from them. EXTORTIONIST. SO BE WARE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Horrible, horrible, horrible !!! I’d have NO stars except that I don’t want anyone to think I forgot to mark —
I ordered propane & prepaid, I then went to order oil from my new delivery co. & found they also sell propane: inquired about pricing & found they were $ 1.50 a gallon LESS ! Called Osterman back, cancelled the order & requested pick up of their tank– cancelling service… they refunded my credit card. The next morning their delivery truck came, parked in front of my neighbors house & FILLED my tank! I called & made arrangement for pick up after 20% was used (remains of what was there originally) — I offered to pay for the delivery but at the lower price that my oil company offered & «no — we can’t do that» !?? They tried billing me for full price — tank removal was $ 89. on the contract but also staed on the contract :” we can increase any price @ any time without notification to customers”. Okay — fuel costs go up & down– pricing reflects fluctuation… makes sense. NOOOO — that little clause allowed them to charge me $ 229. for the $ 89. pick-up…and during all of this dispute: interest charges!
These people are like gum on your shoe — avoid them at all costs !

Prompt, friendly office and field staff. Had to have my tank installed on short notice and they responded quickly. I had a ton of questions about the equipment and problems with the line and the installer was very patient and fixed each problem efficiently. Reasonable rates. Large range of services.

We shall see if I get a manager to call me back like I asked. I was told I am now on a COD delivery status. Why you ask? Because I receive fuel assistance. Guess how much I owe them? NOTHING! I’m on 12% of fuel left and have 3 children under 8. Do they care? We shall see. So it looks like I’m going to run out of heat because they are refusing to deliver. «we can come out tomorrow but we need payment first». «But I don’t owe Osterman anything»?? «Sorry that’s the way it is». I can’t believe a company would do this?

Worst customer service ever!
I wouldn’t trust or use this company ever again — they have canceled numerous appointments and let us down at very short notice each time.

I only had OP for my pool but they charged me extra because I didn’t use enough propane every year; I finally got rid of them; their customer is service is awful; they are rude and uncaring. Stay away from this company.

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
Called tonight to report a strong smell near my hot water heater. Why? Because my propane is low. Which is interesting, since I’ve been on automatic delivery for 4 years. This is the second time I’ve received «not so automatic» delivery and had my tank hit zero.
What’s better than this, you ask? The fact that they wouldn’t send anyone out to deliver tonight. Better yet, she couldn’t even confirm they’d come tomorrow! She was nice enough to leave them a note to let them know I seriously needed some propane. With dipping temperatures tomorrow, do you think I can charge them if my pipes freeze? I’ll be switching companies this week.

Where to start? I call to order a fill on my tank and the extremely unpleasant secretary refuses to set up a service call because she would have to charge me even after I said it was fine to charge me. Then I write a complaint on their website stating that I was displeased and switching companies and to come get their tank. THEN THEY SENT ME AN INVOICE TO GET THEIR EQUIPMENT OFF MY PROPERTY! I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I would like to express my great dissatisfaction in the customer service I have received by Debby Hall in Northbridge, in my phone call to her on the Tuesday, January 22^nd 2013; she started the phone call on a very defensive unfriendly tone and continued to get worse as the phone call progressed. She would not tell me her last name until I asked twice for it; she would not let me speak to a manager. Overall my experience with Osterman’s has been very unpleasant. Due to the horrible experience and customer service I have chosen to withdraw my business, and would not recommend Oosterman’s due to lack of flexibility and horrible people skills of the employee’s in customer service. My time and money has been wasted in the fact that I now have to pay 100 dollars just to discontinue my service.
