Established in 2010.

Daddio’s Garage is a family buiness owned by Tony Moretto, his wife and their daughters. The name is very special and comes from their youngest daughter’s name for Tony — DADDIO!

Daddio has been an auto repair technician since 1986, in Northbrook, where he remained until 2010. During that time he worked with Joe Niemann, of Niemann Shell; owned his own repair shop; worked with J.E.R.R.S., where he expanded his knowledge of heavy duty truck/​construction equipment maintenance & repair.

Done with 2009 & looking for a fresh start to 2010, we decided to launch our own auto repair shop & with the onset of Summer, 2011 we moved into our new location in Northbrook.

We are conveniently located at 430 Dundee Rd, at Skokie Blvd and near Starbucks, Trader Joe’s, The Container Store & more.

We may be a new business in Northbrook, but Tony has been a mechanic for over 25 years.

He began fixing things with the US Navy as a boiler technician on several Adams class Destroyers such the USS Buchanan and the USS Robinson. Tony returned to IL and Great Lakes Naval Base as an A-​Class Instructor and eventually became a Naval Reservist as a CB (Construction Battalion Mechanic), commonly known as the SeaBees, until his formal retirement in 2004.

Tony has knowledge about fixing things that is extraordinary and he is an excellent diagnostician which gives our customers an advantage hard to come by. Opening his own shop has given Tony the ability to run things the way he wants; with a more personal touch and more time to get to know customers.

We are very family oriented, running our business with the idea that our customers are «part of the family», which helps us create the type of relationships we want: lifelong, happy customers!

I just found out that Daddio’s has closed and Tony has joined with Duxler up the street. As an independent, Tony was a great asset to the auto community. I wish him well at Duxler.

Great shop! I highly recommend them. I showed up there with my brakes grinding terrible. I knew it was gonna cost me some money to repair as well as I know the going rate for a brake job, but they were willing to work with me on the price & sneaked me in so I can get my truck back the same day. I’ve done work with them in pasted but only small stuff. Bottom line if you want great work, good price, and know in the back of your head it’s going to get done right thins is where you go!

Tony is extremely nice and friendly — his wife however, is a different story. She talked to me for 15 minutes about how half of the reviews on here are from her family and friends. Who wants to trust a place with fake reviews?
I had a damaged rim and I took my car here to get my tire switched from the damaged rim to the new one. 10 minutes later, the nozzle where you put air into the tire is broken. I asked her how it broke and she told me I was the one that broke it — this made no sense, since 2 days prior to that, her husband put air into the tire in front of me (meaning that it was not broken). I explained that to her, so she went to the mechanic and said, «wasn’t this already broken?» And he replied with, «no, it just broke as I was putting air in the tire».
Naturally, someone would think that since the shop broke the part on my rim, that they would replace it (since they broke it, and I did not)… But nope! That’s not how things work at this crappy place. She said she wasn’t going to pay for it because «it was old»… But funny how 5 minutes prior to that, she wasn’t going to pay for it because I was the one that broke it. I wonder what other excuses she would have came up with to get out of doing the «right thing» by replacing my part.
Bottom line is that they have no proper customer service. Who breaks parts off of customers cars and asks the customer to pay for it? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of and I would NEVER recommend going to this shitty place. Not until they become good people and choose to do the right thing when it comes to handling cars and taking care of their PAYING customers the correct way.
WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Good luck to anyone that goes there :)

One thing I truly hate moving to a new area is finding a good mechanic. We just moved to the area last summer, it took me trying 3 different places to land in Daddio’s Garage. After last 2 places, I am thinking about giving up and planning to go back to my previous great mechanic who is 25 miles away for a routine check/​oil change. I’m glad that I give this place a try. It reminds me of my previous a couple of auto shops, honors mechanic honors price. Last shop I went for a routine check, end up asking for a $ 700+ service, well, you got the idea…

It’s a great thing to have a mechanic who you can trust and is very reasonably priced. Tony Moretto has always taken great care of me and you’ll never get suckered into additional stuff that you «need» like the national chain franchise shops. He’s an extremely nice guy, no gruff grease monkey. You won’t be disappointed.

I called and talked to a woman named Anna and let her know my situation. My car was having major issues and she was so nice. She took the time to explain what could be wrong and put me at ease. She scheduled my appointment right away for 7am on a Monday. When I got there on Monday, Tony (the owner) immediately helped me. He let me know that my catalytic converter needed replacing, I was upset because i knew those sort of things could be very costly to replace. Tony reassured me that he would look for the best price he could get me. He let me know what the final price would be and I was surprised because I thought it would be much more than it was. I had one other minute issue with my muffler BUT he did not try to sell me anything I didn’t need. He was very honest. He said that the issue could wait. I never once felt pressured to buy any other service which I feel when I go to big name repair places. I definitely recommend Daddios!

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR AUTO REPAIRS! I have had so many problems with my 2001 Honda Civic EX, and once I took it to Anna and Tony, my problems were solved quickly AND for an affordable price! PLUS they didn’t try to take advantage of my lack of car knowledge, and they didn’t nickel and dime me like other places! After all, I am a college student on a budget!
A little back story, to understand my car woes:
I had the check engine light and took it to my old, shiesty mechanic, and he replaced the O2 sensor. However; the check engine light was still on. After returning to the shop, they had told me I needed a new computer module (PCM) and it wasn’t the O2 sensor after all, but no refund… suspicious, no? But I was naïve… I took their advice and bought a new PCM cheap and got it replaced at the Honda dealership.
Honda then called and said the new O2 that my old mechanic replaced was faulty, and they advised me to take it back to the shop to ask if the part was under warranty. It wasn’t. Upon returned to the old mechanic, they told me I had nothing wrong with the O2 sensor and the PCM, and they didn’t know what was wrong with the car.
So I was ready to give up on my car since no one could pinpoint a problem. And then I got recommended to come to Daddio’s– my last stop. Not only did the other shop LIE, but Daddio’s fixed my faulty O2 sensor for half the cost of the other guy! My check engine light is off now! PLUS they fixed my crappy suspension for a steal of a price…
I am so thrilled with Daddio’s Garage! It’s an amazingly honest, and friendly place with affordable prices! I will never go anywhere else for my laundry list of car problems and I will forever recommend everyone I know to come here for theirs too!

I was so excited after seeing such stellar reviews in Unilocal to have found a neighborhood mechanic. Called this morning and was told to stop by between 1:00 & 4:00 to have a tire looked at. It was very uncomfortable at the beginning. Sean was being super helpful and started looking at the tire when cranky Fred started yelling at him to do an oil change first. Fred just wouldn’t let up and didn’t seem to care that I could hear everything. Sean ended up doing both at the same time and was super nice to me. He seems to totally get customer service. For him alone, I will consider coming back. If I had to deal with cranky Fred again, I probably won’t go back.

We finally decided it was time to ditch our dealership and find a good auto shop in the area that would take care of our Lexus. Daddio’s deserves every great review! Not only are they open and honest about their prices, but they are extremely nice people who get the job done quickly and meticulously. They even gave me a coupon for a $ 5 rebate on a $ 25 oil change! In the end I paid 3x less than I would at a Lexus dealership.

Greeted by Tony with a smile and super chill demeanor. Came in for a simple flat tire repair. In and out in 30 minutes. Was sent off with a smile. Definitely felt like a valued customer even if it was for something this minor. If ever I need a flat fixed, I’ll be coming back here.

This place is the best! I highly recommend them!
First of all I normally have zero trust in auto mechanics due to previous bad experiences. After working with Tony and Anna, this is a place that I have 100% full trust in. There is no need to worry or be on guard with them. After talking with Tony, you can see he’s a person of high integrity, and knows his stuff inside and out.
My daughter had an issue with her truck (thought she saw smoke), which was like a day or two before a holiday. Tony stayed at work late and took the time to look it over, didn’t see anything — and said «No Charge»!! Wow!
Because of that we decided to bring our truck in with the laundry list of items we wanted repaired. Tony and Anna were great in helping go through which items were important enough to spend money on and which weren’t, along with finding less expensive parts. Tony also went above and beyond in checking over the truck and catching a critical repair and calling me about it. Since I had quite a few items, they were very accommodating with working out the final cost, which I truly appreciate.
If your car needs any service at all, this is a place you can trust, the work is top quality, guaranteed, and the prices are very reasonable!
(FYI: They are located ON the North East corner of Skokie Blvd. and Dundee Rd., where the small gas station is.)

As I was driving to visit family my car started to shake violently. I searched Unilocal for Auto shops around the area. As i saw Daddios great reviews I decided to go there as an emergency. I met Tony and he told me that he was able to see me in an hour. Realizing that THAT was a long wait he recommended another place if I didn’t want to wait. He made me feel like he was a good trustworthy man so I chose to wait.
He checked out my car, told me it was a damaged tire, speed around for a reasonable priced tire. Unfortunately, being the holidays, I was already broke so I asked if he could put the donut on until I found funds. He changed my tire free of charge. He made a couple of suggestions on future needs for me to keep in mind. Too bad I live so far away because this guy is definitely someone I would/​will recommend…

Excellent Service. Great prices. Wonderful people. Highly recommend this place.
I brought in a Kia Optima (2008) for a couple of things — rattling noise in the front axle, belts making squeaking sounds etc. Tony was available for a quick chat to learn more about the problems and immediately diagnosed it. He offered to do a deep diagnostic while I wait or I could leave the car.
I chose to leave the car and come back later. Anna was great in getting my information and got the car checked in. While I was away, Anna got back to me within an hour with an estimate which was very reasonable (~$ 275), and had the work completed in 2 – 3 hours which included the time for parts.
The customer service didn’t end there. She also emailed me additional material and a 60K mile checklist since I had asked her about it. Usually mechanics try their best to shield that information so you go back to them (even though these checklists are available online). She went a step ahead and checked for any open recalls on my car, and as it turns out, 2008 Kia Optimas have a recall for Clock Spring Assemblies. She gave me all the details about the recall and list of dealerships in the area that I could take the car for the free recall repair.

My Volvo failed the emissions test and I stopped for a quote at my local Volvo dealer. They quoted me over $ 730 to replace oxygen sensor and reset the car’s computer. I had Tony replace same oxygen sensor and the car passed emissions test this afternoon. Daddio’s price $ 429. Don’t throw your hard earned money away! If you have any car issue stop for a quote at Daddio’s before you go anywhere.
It’s great to have good, honest people in the area!

I don’t know their reliability for car repairs at all. But the other reviews are promising. My review is about Daddio’s bringing back something every other gas station and garage has abandoned: free air for your tires or sports equipment. They may be the last place on the roadways to offer that (see my photo).
