First it is more Cantonese then szechuan. They have a buffet and dim sum along with a lunch menu. It was a bit of a disappointment the selection was more American style then chinese. The food was good and the pork dumpling very good. Dim sum menu is short, but worth the trip.

I really don’t know what’s up with all the bad reviews. I’ve been coming to Szechwan Kingdom since they opened, and yes, they have had their ups and downs over the years, regarding various things, but I can honestly say that they’ve really been good and consistent for the last 7 years or so. I order take out from them around once a week, and I’m always made to feel welcome. I’ve had the buffet, and yes, it could stand to be a little hotter, as the food does get cold when it’s on your plate rather quickly, but I’ve yet to have food stay hot at any buffet I’ve gone to, so I don’t know what people are really expecting from a buffet. The food always tastes good. They have the best egg drop soup I’ve ever had, and I love the hot & sour soup, and the sizzling rice soup as well. My staple dish though, is usually the chicken with broccoli, and I usually request a brown sauce. The few times I’ve ordered things and there’s been a problem, all I’ve ever had to do is call back(even if it’s over an hour later), and explain what I ordered, and what happened, and they’ve either offered to rush out a new dish for me(and I do not live within their delivery area!), or issue me a credit for the next time I come in. I’ve brought family and friends here for both the buffet, regular dining in, and take out, and every time, everyone has loved the meal, and no waitress or waiter has ever been rude or treated us badly. I really have to wonder if the people leaving bad reviews are even reviewing the right restaurant, because I’ve NEVER experienced ANYTHINGCLOSE to bad service from this restaurant. Everyone has always been friendly and accommodating.

I just don’t understand some of these low reviews. The last person to give this restaurant 1 star also gave 1 star to the last 5 restaurants he reviewed. The lady right before that review also gave Szcehwan 1 star. She has only done 2 reviews — both one star. Something strange is going on. In any case, we had not been to the restaurant for about 2 years, but we always enjoyed it. We went on a Friday night and the Unilocal reviews have certainly have had their negative effect. It used to be full or almost full when we went on a Friday or Saturday. This time it was less than 25% full. We were 2 couples. We had 3 entrees, 2 appetizers and some drinks. For entrees we had Walnut Shrimp, a thick pan noodle dish and a crispy chicken dish. All 3 were excellent, especially the Walnut shrimp which was outstanding. The 2 appetizers were egg rolls and pot stickers. Both were good, but not as good as the entrees. That is the only reason I did not give them 5 stars. The service was quick and friendly.

There has to be a better place to get Chinese food. Only plus was delivery was very fast. Won ton soup: worst I’ve ever had. Had a weird taste and wontons were rubbery. Hot and sour soup: decent but a bit watery Beef and broccoli: Beef was tender, but was drenched in sauce. Broccoli was mushy bc it was so drenched. Fried rice: bland

Pork belly with the bun was awesome. They also have a daily buffet for 12 a head but instead you should ask for the authentic Chinese menu. They have a lot of hidden dishes on there that are so good. The lady working there Sulan is great. So sweet… Just ask for Sulan she will help you explore new dishes.

Despite the bad reviews, I went anyway. I admit t had my trepidations. The building was old and the décor was about 20 years old. The restaurant didn’t seem dirty. Food was great and I was extremely happy that they served dim sum all day. Of course the menu was limited but it had just what I needed. It was all fresh and yummy! The staff was friendly and the service was great. They also tried to joke around even with their broken English. I would go back again.

First time I ordered from here was last night as take out. I ordered 2 kung bao chicken, one regular and one extra spicy. Got home to feed the family and not only was neither dish spicy, the chicken tasted rotten. It’s the only word i can use to describe how bad it tasted. It tasted the way it smells when you forget to cook some chicken and it’s now gone bad in your fridge. I called the restaurant just now, not looking for anything complimentary but to simply give him a heads up in case anyone calls saying the food made them sick. The guy on the phone could not have cared less and no, there was no apology. Good think I wasn’t expecting that either. Look elsewhere, or at least don’t order the kung bao chicken.

Very good take-out and delivery; dishes are delivered fast and right out of the kitchen. Ate at the restaurant itself once; service was ok but the owner is friendly and accommodating.

Ok. service may be an issue but it’s our ‘go to’ for good, satisfying takeout and we’ve never had a problem.

The first issue was that there was no waitstaff in the dining room, and after waiting for a while to order, my father got up and got the manager, who said he would send the waitress, who entered the dining room and completely ignored us to go do something else for a while. Eventually, after he called her 3 times, she came and took our order. Mine wasn’t any trouble, but then my dad ordered steamed vegetarian potstickers, which seemed to perplex the waitress and he had to reiterate a few times. He also wanted vegetable fried rice, which she had trouble understanding. He had to repeat that too. The only thing she seemed to understand was«egg rolls.» My mom, being unable to eat soy along with a number of other ingredients, asked if she could just have some plain steamed broccoli. This appeared to be too much for the waitress. She kept pointing to menu items and my mom kept saying she couldn’t have any sauce and it just escalated to where the waitress was arguing with my mom. When my mom said they could put garlic and salt on the broccoli if they wanted, the waitress clearly had no idea what she was talking about and started to leave. I tried to order my nephew the fried turnover dumplings, and the waitress kept insisting it was the same thing my father had already ordered. We got tired of arguing with her and said, fine, whatever, please bring food. The egg rolls came out fast. They looked mass produced and I did not sample them. The potstickers that came out were fried pork and my parents are observant Jews, hence the vegetarian order. The waitress had disappeared again and when she came back and my father said he hadn’t ordered fried pork she started fighting with him again and insisting that he had, which he obviously hadn’t, because he hasn’t eaten pork since the early days of the Reagan administration. He didn’t want to pay for the pork dumplings but my nephew was already consuming them like popcorn. Eventually they brought some vegetarian ones, which were not worth the wait. They were so heavy and greasy, the dough thick and overly chewy, the filling bland. Of course, when my mother’s «plain steamed broccoli» got to the table, it was a plate of mixed veggies in a thick sauce. When she tried to discuss this with the waitress, the waitress again insisted it was what she had ordered, despite the fact that everyone else heard her say, «plain steamed broccoli» at least 5 times. The waitress finally asked if she wanted steamed vegetables but my mom just sent the food back and told them to forget about bringing her anything; she ate white rice and the 3 pieces of plain steamed broccoli on my plate. My orange peel chicken was edible, although it was more breading than chicken and there wasn’t anything praiseworthy about the meat. The sauce had a nice degree of spice. I seriously hope my folks remember this experience and stop coming here to get yelled at by the waitress. How do places like this stay in business? Why would you argue with someone about what they ordered? Does she think people come to restaurants to pretend they want things they don’t eat and then start fights? Because we could have done that at home for free. I know my folks can be annoying in restaurants sometimes, but their dietary restrictions should not warrant an argument. The food was pretty mediocre; I probably would have rated it between 2 and 3 stars if the service had been normal. But it was not. This is a «never go there again» place.

Two stars for the service. Zero star for the food. Worst taste of Chinese food ever tried in the US.

Worst place ever. No customer service whatsoever. The place was dead quiet when I came in, yet nobody came to sit me down. Made me wonder if I was invisible. I stood long enough to get pissed and left. The woman who talking on the phone in chinese the whole time then realized to walk out after me. I did not go back in. I understand she is on the phone but could you at least notice me? She look at me and plain ignored me. Rude

After seeing a picture of a cricket in the reviews I had my reservations, but gladly the food turned out to be really good. An orange peel beef had a blend of spicy with sweetness. The chicken in garlic sauce had a nice array of veggies and cashews. The dinner servings were enough to have lunch the next day, even if I had to figure out how to microwave it in a tiny hotel space. If you are staying in the vicinity stick to the traditional menu items for a solid meal.

Poor Customer Service, Just Average Food — Go Somewhere else For several years our family frequented this restaurant for both in room dining and take out orders. We even hosted dinners for our office and luncheons at their facility over the past 10 years. However, recently, the care of the management and the food quality has slipped into territory showing little regard for the customer as the agent of choice in making or breaking the restaurant business. On the last two occassions we have ordered take out they have failed to deliver a properly executed order, forgetting to add sauces to a dish and shorting items on one visit. While the last visit they wrote the wrong food order because the management cares more about juggling multiple tasks than focusing on the care of the person on the phone. Then when it was brought to management’s attention by a phone call there was no apology and I was placed not on hold but the phone was left with the receiver open so I could hear the ownership taking other orders and paying no regard to their mistake. Moreover, if anyone had a food allergy in our home, the order they sent would have potentially sent a food allergic individual into an episode. When I returned the wrong order and asked for my money back, the owner took $ 11.00 and tossed it at me and said here and goodbye! There was no apology or how can we make it better. The care for a customer of 10 years was disregard. I would estimate over 10 years or more we probably invested $ 10,000 into their business but now we walk and take our business somewhere else. Good luck Szechwan Kingdom. You will need it if you keep running your business this way. There are plenty of anxious chilnese restaurants willing to give better service, better value, and superior food.

The food here is horrible. The fried crab wonton was cold. The dim sum tastes bad. The regular food is not that great either for the price. I know the burbs are not known for their Chinese food but as far as this place goes, it’s probably the lowest quality of food you can find. I would not recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the taste of food. The staff is friendly so I do feel bad that I have to give them a bad review of their food.

Gotta love this place. The lunch buffet is a smaller selection, but the quality is superior to any other. Today I enjoyed the Broccoli Shrimp. The appetizers are well prepared but how can you pass up a shrimp dish that’s 88% shrimp. All the dishes are excellent.

The food definitely did not live up to expectations for the price. It was not good in portion size, flavor, temperature, texture, nor ingredient quality.
