The coffee I had at Caribou was terrible. They were friendly but don’t have a clue how to make a good latte. Train your baristas! I FINALLY found the Starbucks at the end of concourse B at DIA hidden around a corner. It was quite a trek since my flight was leaving from A. This must be a political move? I’m all for supporting local but only if local can produce a quality product. Caribou is definitely lacking quality. If you charge premium prices you need to be able to keep up.

Bizarrely bad service. Maybe they know they have a captive audience and don’t need to work for repeat customers. People are often in a rush at airport — flights to catch and all. I stood in line with a young child for about a minute while the two people working talked about when they were getting off — the chit chat version, not trying to figure out schedules even. The poor woman who approached the counter next walked up, asked a question, and the lady behind the counter turned away to resume her conversation without even acknowledging a question was asked. I was tempted to question if this was a social science experiment or reality show seeing how bad the service could be before people walked out. I regret following through with my purchase. I don’t like rewarding such behavior. The lady behind me fairly politely acknowledged the poor service and left. She was wiser than me.

News Travels is a small convenience store type thing over near the 40+ numbered gates in Terminal A. It’s got a decent assortment of snacks and stuff for you to take on the plane — but they could expand their soda offerings a bit. They’ve also got a TON of magazines, some books, and even some general souvenirs(sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc). Airports aren’t usually known for their friendly employees, but the folks who work in News Travels have actually been pretty darn cool. So, I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop in… but it’s a nice option to have when you’re flying out of A.
