Specialties

Although you aren’t literally locked in a room at Denver Escape room, you will still have to find your way out. Your team of 2 – 6 people will be left yo your own devices as you solve puzzles, search for useful items, and put together clues that will aid in your escape. Each room is themed and puts players in different roles. You might become an FBI agent and have to rescue a hostage or search your grandfather’s apartment for the family heirloom.

History

Established in 2014.

Brian Lacertosa, Denver Escape Room’s founder, first saw the potential in bringing an escape room to Colorado after a visit to New York in the summer of 2014. Although he did not escape, he was immediately intrigued by the idea of a completely immersive entertainment experience that required brainpower andDSC_​0019_​web-​2 teamwork. As a result, he visited numerous escape rooms across the U.S. (he has yet to escape one) and began to craft a business plan.

From there, the business plan started to become a reality. Brian partnered with Russell Jenson, who saw a unique corporate opportunity, a location was discovered, and authentic escapes were constructed from the ground up. Friends and family rallied around the business and were energized by the opportunity to bring a new source of entertainment to life in Colorado.

After over a decade in Restaurant Management, Brian started an online sales business. After 7 years of dealing with e-​mails and phone calls, he realized that he missed talking to customers and being able to shake their hands. When the idea of an Escape Room came along, Brian saw that Denver didn’t have anything like it so he decided to bring it Denver. After being open for a short time, the response has been amazing. People have just as much fun when they don’t get out in time as they do when they have tim left on the clock.

First off. Keep Nate. Whatever you do. This kid is rad. Very informative and made it a lot of fun from the get go. This is an absolute blast. We made it to the last clue and ran out of time! What a fun time. I won’t spoil anything, try it. It takes an hour and you will love it!

We went here last night and I thought the place was well laid out. The people who met us at the door were very friendly and they were helpful to get us started. The main problem we ran into was not knowing that we would need reading glasses, so we didn’t bring any. That would be a disaster because you have to be able to see the dials on the locks to put in the combos. However, the people let us stop the clock and go to our car to get a cell phone to help magnify the numbers, but it didn’t help much. That wasn’t their fault, but the next time I will bring my reading glasses. Otherwise, I have 20⁄15 vision, but no good when you need to read small numbers. Having said that, I would recommend the experience and we will probably go back again in the future.

These guys are organized, friendly and fun.
We had no idea what to expect, but it was perfect for our two groups of six to do separate escapes. Would totally recommend as good family fun — and we will absolutely be going again. Will also probably do a tram builder for employees as well.
Be flexible on the time — if the group in front of you takes a little long, don’t panic. They let us work about 10 minutes extra and gave us some hints to help us move forward when we were so close to the next clue.
The guys working also provided some silly signs and offered to take photos — we probably passed them 5 phones and they just kept clicking. Super nice folks.

I think we we become addicted! We did «Farewell» on October 3 right before it was going farewell on the 4th. It was challenging, fun and the hour flew by way too fast. This is a thinking game. Not something scary. We went as a couple and were joined with a group of 4. We had so much fun we came back to do «Rescue 2.0» the very next night! I can’t wait to get our family together to try «White Lie» next! I can’t wait for the next challenge!
Pros:
Fun for literally all ages. Anyone (even your younger children) can help solve the clues and work through them for a solution.
Handicapped can do this as well. My father who is in a wheelchair would have a blast helping solve the puzzles. There is nothing as far as an obstacle that would prevent him from participating and fully engaging in the game. This is a huge plus!
The staff! I /​we really appreciate the staff! If you don’t finish (we were two clues shy the first time and ONE clue shy on our second visit ugh!) the staff will find out where you were stumped in the game and let you work through the clue with help to show you what you missed. This is fantastic! It’s nice to get to the conclusion and not be left going WTF? :-)
Cons:
You will become massively addicted and will need to learn how to space out your game play so you don’t pkay all the games in a couple of days!

You’re in a «locked» room with your group of 2 – 6 people. You have 60 minutes and all the clues and things in the room that you need to «escape» for eternal glory.
Such a fun activity for everyone. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring kids and older adults here, although we were all relatively smart (or so we thought) 30 year olds. We had a couple people in our group who didn’t know if they would like it, but everyone was so happy afterwards and already planning to do it again.
Pros:
— Really challenging in a good way. We just barely didn’t finish and were actively trying to solve the puzzle the whole time.
— If you get stumped/​stuck, the staff monitoring your room gives you a broad clue that points you in the right direction but still makes you work for it
— Max number of people is 6, which is nice so it doesn’t get too chaotic
— Really fun and unique, brings everyone together in a good way
— We liked not having anyone else in the room (other places have a zombie, clue giver, etc)
(Potential) Cons:
— Far from Denver, 25 min north off I-​25 (the drive back wasn’t a problem though, since we were talking non-​stop about the escape room experience)
— $ 25/​person can be a bit pricey for some (but we really thought it was worth it)

Went last night for the first time, and left with so much excitement and energy. If you like puzzles, riddles, mazes, thinking outside the box, etc, this is for you. They grouped the 2 of us with another party of 4 for their Farewell room. Luckily we got along really well with the others.
They give you a basic premise and put you in the room (which you may leave/​quit at any time if you want to; you’re not literally locked in) and set a 60 minute timer. We didn’t finish, but we got tantalizingly close and a few more minutes could have made the difference. That shows just how well-​timed their puzzles are to complete the task and get out in one hour. If they see you are painfully stuck, they will send you a clue on a TV monitor. If you don’t finish by the time limit, they’ll come in and help push you along or walk you through to finish, so you can see what you’ve missed (which is really appreciated!)
I can’t remember the last time I’ve had this much fun at a public venue. It’s so hard to find things to do that aren’t restaurants and bars, and this is really a gem. Just a cherry on top, the staff were super friendly. We’ll be back for sure.
edit: We went back again last night for the grand opening of their Rampancy escape room. While not as difficult as the other rooms, it had a great story line that was more immersive and entertaining than other puzzle rooms. It was very high-​tech with a great production value. We also met the manager, who was equally as friendly as all of his staff. We love this place!

Did White Lie a few weeks ago. With a group of 6, we made it out, but we didn’t have a ton of time left on the clock. Nothing about it in particular really made it stand out from other escape rooms for me, it was just a challenging and well-​constructed puzzle. I would definitely go back to try one of their other rooms.

Tons of fun. Read the other reviews for an idea of what to expect out of an escape room. It’s definitely a unique experience but one that you won’t want to miss out on if you enjoy puzzles and/​or mysteries of any kind.
My boyfriend and I went and had a great time. We were with a group of four others and we escaped with 11 minutes to spare. We appreciated that the website told us beforehand what kind of challenge to expect if we wanted to enter the Hall of Fame — for the one we were doing (White Lie), the time to beat was something like 38 minutes, but of course it was a challenge just to finish the game at all.
Really a solidly put together game and a good time for everyone.

I was looking for something out of the ordinary for my girlfriend’s birthday and found a hidden gem.
If you like puzzles and weird teamwork, this is your place! We chose the farewell theme for our room. We were locked into «grandpa’s apartment» for an hour. We had to find his prized stopwatch before they «demolished» the building. It was fun, ridiculous, and thought provoking. I found myself thinking way too hard, while others were solving clues.
Our team of six had an awesome time. We really pulled it together at the end, even though we lost.
I suggest this place for anyone who wants something out of the ordinary, or a team building event.
Honestly, we will be back.

Our adult kids took us to Denver Escape. Our first time in one of these places. Daughter & her hubby had played in a different one in Denver and in Hungary. WHAT GREAT FUN! We managed to complete the escape with 8 minutes to spare; total group effort. They told us that only about 25% of players manage to successfully complete the «White Lie» game, so we all felt MUCH better about the time it took than before. (Gotta admit that I had thoughts of banging on the door with my fists yelling «Let us out!!», at least until the last few clues came together.
Definitely recommend this to a group if you haven’t played before. They have 2 other scenarios & tell us that they re-​write the games about every month. Terrific concept!
Helpful tip: get your GPS ready. It’s in an office park near housing subdivision, and the signs on the street are tiny… could be easily missed.

super fun experience if you are after something unique and different! bring a group of your most switched-​on brainiac friends and prepare for an interesting challenge. you get to play «CSI» for an hour, trying to find and decipher clues and puzzles to solve your room’s mystery.
helpful hint: wear something comfortable and something you don’t mind potentially crawling around the floor in. be prepared to roll up your sleeves while putting your brain in overdrive! ladies, it may be a good idea to leave the high heels, skirts, and massive handbags at home (speaking from experience).
if i can make a suggestion to the denver escape room: perhaps down the road consider having two levels of difficulty to choose from. your current rooms do not have a success rate of over 25%. and while we all love a good challenge, most of us also love to walk out feeling clever and accomplished. perhaps have a second option which offers a success rate closer to 50−60%. just an idea!

One of the best escape the room experiences in the Denver area!
The facilities are clean and easy to access. Indoor temperature was warm despite being cold outside. Costs were fair, they accept cash or credit, and parking was easy (private lot, no charge, handicap accessible, right outside the door of the building). Bathrooms were easy to access, clean and well stocked. There is a comfortable waiting area, but not much to do while you wait. (That probably won’t matter, since you will likely encounter other people who are interested in this new type of entertainment, and it’s fun to geek out about the coolness factor.)
The puzzle room itself was large, well furnished, and had interesting props. It was well decorated and fit in beautifully with the overall story (believable settings are always a plus in these types of experiences).
The individual clues and puzzles were numerous and challenging. Staff will offer audio suggestions if they think you are stuck (this is thoughtful, and keeps things moving along nicely, but if you don’t want any clues at all, you might want to tell them in advance).
The story we chose was «Farewell». It had an interesting and plausible storyline with lots of simultaneous activities for multiple people (some thinking, some hands-​on, some visual patterns and general ‘ability to notice detail’, some were math-​based). We were with a group of six people total, and there were enough things to see and do that nobody was left out of participating in the experience. Probably not fun for extremely young kids, but I would say this puzzle would be appropriate and fun for ages 10 – 110.
It was definitely a lot of fun, and we will come back again!

While visiting family in Denver, we went and did «White Lie» with another couple and liked it so much that we came back two days later and did «Farewell.» We were successful with «White Lie» and failed at «Farewell.» Lots of fun! It’s a really unique activity for a date, whether it’s with your spouse or someone you just met. Note that they don’t actually lock you in the room because it’s the 21st century and we have fire codes against such things, so no need to get claustrophobic. The staff is really great and they give you some hints to keep it fun if you’re stuck on something.
It’s a really enjoyable, unique thing to do.

So what is an Escape Room? An escape room is a kind of locked-​room mystery combined with game-​like puzzles and minor role-​playing elements that puts you in a scenario where you and your friends try to work against the clock to solve problems and puzzles in time to either «Escape» or achieve the objective of the scenario.
Note that at no time do they actually lock you in the room. If you want to, you can open the door and walk out.
We played the «Rescue» scenario with some people from our board-​gaming group and it was a big big hit.
For gamers and social folks, this is a great evening out. Much more interactive than a movie, ballet, concert, or play and a good value for the money. The rooms are professionally assembled and explained. The one and only niggling detail that bothered me was that the music that was being played during our introduction to the session didn’t match the scenario. Perhaps some dramatic music (maybe from a movie score) played at a relatively low volume would fit better than the country songs that were playing. That being said, my wife didn’t even notice, and once we were into the room, that was long forgotten.
All in all a great experience. We will definitely return. We have planned two more trips back to play the other scenarios being offered with different groups. Hopefully this time we can beat the challenge!
