Affordable Car Care

When I lived to LA I didn’t know one person or mechanic! I stumbled upon John at affordable car care. Being a single lady I felt I could put my car in his hands and not be taken advantage off!

If there was a rating for 6 or 10 stars this place deserves it! The absolute best service and No Bullsh! t! They know what they are doing and offer the best possible price there is. I only wish they had in house financing because I would get everything done on all my cars through them.

The owner is great. As a small business you can imagine some days are busier than others and I understand. Twice he has helped us in a pinch with professional, kind service and always great, reasonable prices. Better than the dealer, for sure. I’m thankful for affordable car care!

We were referred to these guys by a tow truck driver sent by triple A. I’m always worried about trusting an auto shop that hasn’t been referred to me by someone I know. But I have to say that these guys are awesome! My husband and I have used them numerous times now and every time we are pleasantly surprised. They always have the lowest estimate and they always meet the estimate or come under the estimate! Who does that? I have never had a mechanic do that.
They never put on a hard up sell either. We don’t go in for one thing and come out with five things. My last mechanic was the worst with that. Ugh.
Anyway we highly recommend these guys. Ask for John he is honest and fair and won’t steer you wrong!
And BTW, I am not related to them or friends with them and I surely don’t work for them! I live in the neighborhood and I’m just really excited that I finally have an auto shop I can trust!!!

John took great care of me and my wife’s ford explorer. Its a 99 so it definately needs love and he got it running beautifully. Correct diagnosis first time. Undercut his closest competition’s quote just on my word. Great that AAA totally recommended John.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this place– and to this day it still burns me that this place tried to cheat me and may be cheating other unsuspecting patrons.
I had an issue with my vehicle and found the reviews on Unilocal for Affordable Car Care. Thinking that it was a good place due to all the 5-​star reviews, I went to get an estimate on my vehicle. The person who helped me (I am positive it was the owner) told me what the issue was and provided me a quote. I was very suspicious and got estimates from 3 other mechanics. In short, what Affordable Car Care told me was completely false! The other 3 mechanics (all different businesses I also found on Unilocal with positive reviews) were all consistent in what the issue was and diagnosed it correctly, and it was a much different issue and much cheaper fix!
This place was going to RIP ME OFF and is COMPLETELY DISHONEST! Please note that all of the 5 star reviews are from people who only have one or a couple of reviews, so I believe that these are all employees or the owner’s friends who manipulated the Unilocal system in order to get placed on the Unilocal rankings. If you choose to take your car here, make sure you don’t let this place fix it or scare you into fixing it, and make sure you at least get another estimate or two from other places.
Shame on this place!

My car’s AC system had been broken for the past few months, so I initially took it to the local Honda dealer. They quoted me $ 2700 to replace the system, which I passed on. What they didn’t tell me was that it could cause a chain reaction that would damage other parts of my car. Fast forward a few weeks later, and my 2001 Honda Civic is smoking from underneath the hood while I was racing back to the dealer. to see what was wrong. I fell short two blocks from the dealer, before it just got too out of hand, and I had to park in some random parking lot. While on the phone with AAA to get a tow truck, the woman asked if I wanted to be towed to a AAA certified car shop. I figured why not. It was the best decision I could’ve made in my situation.
Long story short, John was absolutely amazing. He was genuine, friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. He went through the trouble of trying to find the most cost-​effective solution for me, and in the end I got my new AC system for less than $ 1200. What could’ve been a horrible experience that would’ve made a huge hole in my wallet, ended up being quick, easy, and relatively painless. I’m so happy to have a perfectly functioning AC system, a necessity in LA. I can’t recommend this shop more. John is someone who really takes care of all the people who come in, and it’s probably cause he’s just a great guy.
Update (8÷15÷15): I was just looking up reviews for other places on Unilocal,and remembered I had written this a couple months ago, so I checked out the page and saw the review Kolby B. left recently. He or she is claiming all these five star reviews are by people who are affiliated with the business. Well, it’s too bad you had a bad experience. I can only speak for myself, but I’m a real customer, and my account of the experience was 100% true. I never write reviews for anything… Ever! Hence the reason that this is my only review for anything on the Interne. They were so exceptional that I had to give at least a few minutes of my time for them. I can only assume from my personal experience over this two day episode, that the other good reviews are people like myself who were well taken care of by these guys. So yeah… Just felt the need to stand up for them, and I don’t appreciate someone questioning my integrity. I’ll probably never go to ACC again only because I now live too far away, but if I did live in the Valley, these guys would be my go-​to.

Two words: Honest and polite. The whole experience with John and his shop was refreshing and we have definitely found our new mechanic.

I had my 2002 Toyota Corolla towed from Pasadena to Northridge to have it looked at by John after having a frustrating experience with the Pasadena Toyota Dealership. John was honest with letting me know what was wrong with my car and patient with allowing me the time to make the right decision. He also offered to find out some alternative options I had by reaching out to some of his connections. In the end, the repairs were going to be greater than the value of the car so I had to say goodbye to my 1^st car that I had for over 10 years, which was a little sad. On the bright side, it’s good to know that there are mechanics out there that you can trust. Thanks John!

Kinda late review but I’ve got to put one up because of the great service! Had car trouble & broke down, called AAA & took my car here after a friend suggested the place (since it was closest to where I broke down). Good crew & they figured out the problem right away. John’s a good guy who will keep it straight and do his best to help you. In the end it was only the alternator and they didn’t try to up-​sale me by saying «you also need this» or «you also need that». Very happy overall!

Great experience with Affordable Car Care. John helped arrange a tow truck to pick up my vehicle, and had the work done on the same day for a reasonable price. I plan to return to have other repair work done on my Mustang.

These guys are awesome. Honest, straight forward, and genuinely good people. Not in it to make a quick buck. They diagnosed my problem after an hour or two of work for free, recommended a solution, and explored other possibilities of what I can do. Very helpful and took excess time out of their busy day to explain everything and give me tips! Walked off free of charge, but I will definitely be back the next time I have a problem and recommend him to everyone I know! Don’t bother going anywhere else or reading reviews of other places. Seriously impressed by their service!

I had a very positive experience at ACC. I just had an oil change and a headlight replaced. John told me that I overpaid for the headlight, and about how much it should cost. He also told me of a few small fixes I need to get done. He described things that I had been noticing about my cars performance, and explained why it needs to be done. I feel they are very honest and I will definitely be going back to get these repairs.

I called in hoping I could get a reservation for tomorrow. Called around 4:20 and I was put on hold… for 30 minutes and no one came back to help me.

Nothing but positive experience with Jon and ACC during my week long shenanigans with my car. Prior to ACC, I went to several different mechanics to identify my car prob. No one could give me an explanation as to what the issue was. I called ACC and spoke Jon as suggested by AAA. I gave him the symptoms of the car and he was able to identify the issue right away. Apparently my issue was published in the car company technical service bulletin ~ who knew… clearly I didn’t nor did the other 4 mechanics I went to. Jon was able to arrange a tow for my car to the shop for free, took care of everything over the phone and all I had to do was pick up the car.
Jon and ACC is highly recommended. I hope I don’t have to come back except for normal maintenance, but if I do, I would go back. Cheers! — Twiggy.

John and his team have been extremely efficient and cooperative. John worked with us and the wrecking service and even went to extra lengths to get our car back when we changed our mind. The car broke down and triple AAA towed it — he and his team gave us fair recommendations

Car broke down on the freeway this morning and the AAA recommended I take it here. I wanted somewhere else closer to work. Little did I know the spot I had in mind was only oil service! So the driver took me alllll the way back to Affordable and man, was I grateful. Great service, John was very honest and upfront with everything, and they were able to give me a ride to work while my car was getting fixed. They also finished. The car in a very timely manner. Very nice, professional gentlemen, I appreciate that.

My car was towed to Affordable Car Care after it stalled on the freeway. Affordable Car Care was recommended by the AAA tow truck driver. I am glad I took his advice!
John provided a top notch service: Calling timely with an exact cost estimation and the time the car will be ready.
He explained everything very clearly and was super helpful to make this as cost effective as possible. The car was ready on time.

Best auto shop I’ve had in the valley, and I’ve spent a lot of time at shops over the past year to fix my jalopy. Jon was super friendly and personable, and so was the AAA guy who towed and recommended this place. The job was quick and I didn’t get a bad vibe out of the place. I will definitely go back when my car eventually decides to break again. Thank you so much guys.
