I go to the one in the Oviatt Library and if you go I recommend you get a basic hot coffee because with their iced drinks after the first ten minutes of having it the drink separates meaning you could see where the syrup ends and the rest of the drink begins. It’s pretty nasty and makes the drink basically impossible to drink unless you want to drink a large amount of straight syrup. ALSO weekdays they close at 10pm and they won’t let you get in line past 9:45pm and are really rude about it. All other coffee joints let you get in line until the shop closes so it is really annoying.

The convenience factor is what brings me to this specific location. They are right at the entrance of the oviatt library. As a grad student, you can bet to see me here on the regular basis. The prices for the drinks are a bit high but it is what it is. Coffee. They have pastries and croissants as well that can be toasted to your liking. The last few times I came here though the service has been a bit slow but it is also very busy and it seemed like they were training employees as well. The staff is very friendly and are always on the move to make quick drinks at our convenience.

well, despite all the 2 star 1 star reviews, i think they deserve 4 stars! giving them 5 so it bumps up the ratings hopefully lol. they’re quick, and make a mean ass iced chai! so my fellow colleagues, either stop and starbucks on reseda, or appreciate the only coffee/tea joint on campus. it’s not gonna get any better than this!

I wish I could like this place but I just can’t. I wish we served Starbucks coffee on campus. This location in particular is not big enough(staff wise and room wise) to meet demand and usually has very long lines. Sometimes the hot coffee is lukewarm, and the iced coffee always tastes like it was sitting in a cupboard for days. Come here in emergencies if you need an immediate coffee before class but otherwise spend $ 4 on a cup of coffee elsewhere.

WORST service ever! 1 girl behind the counter! All I wanted was a pastry and she made me stand there and wait while she went and made 3 drinks! I had to leave as I had to be somewhere and couldn’t just STAND there for half an hour!!! HORRIBLE!

Not the greatest drinks pastries or service. It tastes like It’s operated by college students who probably couldn’t care less. But it’s a good place to study on campus.

The wait is extremely slow — like waiting for a ride at Disneyland on a Saturday. But when caffeine is absolutely needed, I have no other option.

I call it the Freudian Shit for a reason. The quality of the coffee drinks varies per location and often my hot drink comes to me lukewarm, I’ve gotten burned drip coffee as well, the baked goods are so-so, and it’s equally as expensive as Starbucks. As one or more people had mentioned in previous comments, the staff is always very friendly and accommodating, and I’ve found this to be true.

This place is great when you need a wake me up drink between classes. My favorite is the iced tea. Great place

I wish CSUN had Starbucks on campus instead of this mediocre coffee joint. I usually try to grab coffee before heading to campus if I know I’m going to have a long day but sometimes I don’t have time so I come here. Overpriced, «eh» tasting drinks. Their«medium» is basically a small size. $ 2 for just plain iced green tea. Lame. I’ve had some of their other drinks and they were all just… okay. Nothing great. What do you expect at a campus coffee shop though.

Not the best, but as a college student it’ll do. Staff is nice and there is a variety of drinks you can get here. However, I prefer just driving to Starbucks to get my fix. This place just does not cut it for me.

Their coffee-particularly the lattes-are crap, but the students that work there are always super nice. I’d skip the cup of joe and opt for some tea instead. The pastries are pretty good too but just make sure you’re aware that this is no Starbucks. On a study binge in the Oviatt though, this place is a godsend.

I’m really loving this updated setting for the library! It used to just be a cart with maybe 2 people working it. They always used run out of things really quick and would be a long line. It has bright new lights, paint and it’s own permanent station. This one is equipped to hold so much more. They have a spot to add to drink similar to Starbucks(sugar, milk, cinnamon, napkins, etc). They sell various snacks such as donuts, bagels, scones, cookies, sandwiches, etc. They sell several kinds of drinks like tea, soda, lattes, italian soda, etc. They also have various sizes that are really surfy to take on the go. It makes it more convenient that you can eat there or take it with you to any of the floors of the library. My favorite drink to order is hot chocolate and they even add whip cream to give it that touch that you used to love as a kid! There is also about ¾ others spread out through the school. At least one on each end to make it really convenient do students depending on what side of the school they are at.

Located in the lobby of the Oviatt library, which I found really convenient these past couple of weeks while wracking my brain studying for finals. The line can be a bit long at times, but it usually goes really quick because there are so many people working behind the counter. I’ve had their caramel macchiato coffee, iced and hot, and iced tea and all were A-OK but nothing too special. Just nice to be able to come here and get something to drink or munch on as a break. I’ve been told that this particular Freudian Sip doesn’t have everything that the other ones on the CSUN campus have. Tip: $ 2 minimum for credit cards. Close from 2:30 — 3:30, I believe, for cleaning.

My favorite coffee place on campus! Nice seating area but wish it had more. Good ambiance in general

Bad service, expensive price, and mediocre product. The only thing Freudian Sip has going for it would be it’s convenience but when you factor in the awful service it turns into a complete waste of time. I got a medium Caramel Frappuccino for $ 4.50, since they said they don’t make small frappuccinos but I don’t believe that one bit. The frappuccino was okay but not worth the $ 4.50 when it came to quality and the hassle of getting it. I’ve tried numerous things from Freudian Sip most of which you can get from any other foodary around CSUN, you know donuts, sandwiches, pastries, and fruit cups. The only thing Freudian Sip really has that you can’t get anywhere else on campus would be fancy coffee drinks. I recommend passing on Freudian Sip and saving yourself some money and time by getting pre-made drinks from on campus stores.

Located in the lobby of the library which is really convenient. During the first week of school, early in the morning 8−10am line can be a little long; midterm and final week it can be a little crazier than usual. I usually grab a hot chocolate or chocolate milk and a chocolate chip scone(can you tell that I like chocolate). My quick fix to keep me pushing while I study my brain away.

Problem: You’re studying for a test for hours. Your brain is drained, you mouth is dry, but you don’t want to leave the library. Quite a dilemma. Solution: The Freudian Sip in the Ovaitt permanently in the library lobby.(They used to put up coffee stands/vending machines only during finals week) I am very happy with the location of this snack bar because it’s perfect for those of us who need a bite just to keep going while studying for 6, 8, or 10 hours at a time. It also made it okay for all students to bring food into the library. No more sneaking in food and drinks; thanks to the Freudian Sip, we can proudly parade our eats in front of a librarian without a tongue lashing. Why the 3 stars? The Price! Based on the demand, the prices are ridiculous. The quality of the food isn’t the best either. Beggers can’t be chosers, right? *shrugs*

My four stars stand– it seems the novelty of coffee in the library has yet to wear off – but hot dammit, why doesn’t this website allow half stars? Fractions are people, too! My imaginary negative half star gripe? The double espresso here tastes like a combination of boiled garbage can and ass. Sure, it has a shit ton of caffeine, and sure, the dude at the counter in the mornings looks like Blake Sennett*, but these things do not a good coffee make. Moral? Double espresso is a no go**. Everything else is a yes go. Four stars, end update. *if you’re hungover and still a little high and squint you eyes a little and are naturally, like, two inches taller than him. **were this a real article, I like to think this would be the title. Also, that the article would concern something other than a coffee cart at CSUN and that people would actually, you know, read it.
