I have received services from Hotline Plumbing on two separate occasions. Consistent with the five-​star reviews I have read below and the language geared towards uncompromising customer service and quality which I found on their website, I found Jed and Pedro to be on time, prepared with the right materials and appropriate techniques, and to have done thoroughly thoughtful jobs on both occasions.
WATER HEATER & HOT WATER CIRCULATING PUMP
My first encounter with them was a request to change out a broken 40 gallon gas water heater for a new one. I called around and after conducting research, determined that Hotline Plumbing offered the best price. In my second encounter with their services, I called Jed and Pedro back to replace a pump which circulates hot water continuously throughout the house for on-​demand hot water. They did a fine job on both occasions, took approximately an hour for each of the two tasks, and were patient and helpful with my questions. The price was fixed and agreed upon both times prior to their arrival and the price did not fluctuate during the process, even as they discovered that welding would be needed to shorten a pipe for the first job. I believe they strive to earn the business of returning customers each time. I would return to them again should plumbing services be needed and highly recommend Hotline Plumbing.

We had Hotline Plumbing come out to repair the valve in our shower. Giovanni came out (with a helper… sorry I forgot your name) We had 2 other plumbers look and say it was the valve.
I asked to Giovanni to check the cartridge (since my husband had installed it) just to make sure it was in correctly. He did and it wasn’t! So they put it in again and found the water pressure was still too low. Cleaned the valve… flushed it and removed some of the debris. It now works and it saved us tearing out a wall, patching and repair the hole, painting and a lot of money! Needless to say we were very happy with the results. They also tightened our kitchen faucet. Their charge was very reasonable.
I have never reviewed anyone or anything before but I believe they deserve to be congratulated on their service. They were on time, clean, efficient, and honest. It is not often that can be said about a plumber or most contractors of any sort today. Thank you. We will definitely use them again, Please keep up the good work!

Giovani and Dan were timely, friendly, knowledgable, and quickly had our plumbing problem diagnosed and repaired. They are now in our Roledex.

We’ve used Hotline twice in recent months to fix leaks in our condo building and each time they were very punctual, professional, polite, and reasonably priced! We asked about a quote on a re-​piping job for the building (because of all the leaks) but they said they were having to turn away work and recommended someone else. We haven’t called the other company yet but if the Hotline team recommends them then they must be great. It is unfortunate for us that we won’t be able to use Hotline for our job but it is great to see that business is booming and it couldn’t happen to a better company.

I’ve got a major leak, being unaware of it, I must have had this leak for months because my last two DWP bills have skyrocketed. There is only one company, one plumber, I would ever trust to solve this problem! You live and learn! No more mediocrity, no more lying, money gauging plumbers, conning me to spend more money for their shoddy, oftentimes not even needed, work! I write this because sadly, I’ve met them all! When a plumber, my former plumber, makes a hugely complicated and expensive job out of a bathroom sink overflowing, when in fact the only thing wrong with it is that the valves need to be tightened, you know it’s time to run! Jed, the owner of Hotline Plumbing and his assistant Pedro have saved me yet again! Honest, Trustworthy, Reasonable, Prompt, Considerate, Professional, Clean, Friendly. To a homeowner a decent plumber is worth his weight in gold. All you other plumbers in the San Fernando Valley can go take a hike! I’ve suffered enough, emotionally as well as financially with the aggravation a lot of you have caused me before I found out about Unilocal,Jed, and his Hotline Plumbing. Yes, a decent plumber is truly worth his weight in gold, Hotline Plumbing = Solid Gold!

Our family has had plumbing issues for years. We typically have to snake our drains about once or twice a year. Every time we have plumbing issues it is so stressful because we never know who to call. Most plumbers I’ve dealt with in the past have been flaky, don’t know what they’re doing or try to rip you off.
We had a plumbing issue which caused raw sewage to back up into the shower, uggh! I called about 5 different plumbers and none of them could come out the same day. One said he’d call me back and never did, another said he had just dried off so I got the impression he didn’t want to work in the rain and the others were booked. Thank goodness my sister found Hotline on Unilocal!Charlie kept us updated with an eta until he arrived. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He got to work right away, snaked the drain and made sure all toilets were flushing and showers were draining before he left. It was an incredible relief to have the problem fixed (we all did a happy dance and are glad not to have to go to McDonald’s to use the restroom anymore).
The quote was $ 50 less than other companies I called as well. Charlie answered all of my questions and was easy to work with. They were in and out in about half an hour. I will most definitely be calling them again as I plan to hire them for a camera inspection of the pipes, which was also $ 50 less than another quote I got. Charlie and his assistant were truly a god send! I would highly recommend Hotline and will be telling friends and family to use these guys as well! The 5 stars is well deserved. Thanks Charlie!

We had two recent instances of plugged bath tubs and sinks and they were able to quickly, efficiently handle the problem all with a great smile and reasonable pricing (and. 30-​day warranty). That’s amazing! A great plumbing find that we will definitely keep going back to!

Admittedly I’m not the best Unilocaler as all my reviews tend to be five stars, and by my rarity of reviews over the course of several years it means that only a few companies deserve five stars. Hot-​Line Plumbing is one of those rare companies. I’ve used them twice to date, the first time was to replace my main plumbing line from steel to copper. They did a great job, and came in on time and over $ 1000 cheaper than their nearest competitors. I had been quoted between $ 5500 and $ 12,000 for a new main line from the street to house, approximately 80 feet of new copper. Hot Line came in at $ 4000. They were professional the entire time and would not leave the job until they knew I was happy. They can be cheaper than most plumbers because they are not a chain or big plumbing company who contracts out to other plumbers to get the job done, needing to grossly mark up their parts in order to cover the overhead costs (read administrators and managers who never set foot in a job site). I know because I asked how they could do it at that price.
As always shop around but I bet these guys will give you the cheaper bid, and your home won’t suffer for it. They also do the small jobs too!

Common waste line from kitchen disposal and laundry sink started running very slowly. Post-​holiday protest?
Called plumber we have been doing business with for a decade on Tuesday morning No callback by Wednesday evening. Maybe defunct?
Called Jed this morning, based on good Unilocal reviews. Like the commenter below writes, he initially said he was booked till Monday – but he managed to fit us in all the same. Was here in 30 minutes. Drains cleared in 20. Very competitive rate.
So we may have found a keeper. Highly recommended.

I’m glad I called this place to come and fix our washing machine valve. Jed and his coworker came on time. He told us straight up on how much it will cost and got straight to work. They were fast and friendly. Our laundry sink/​tub was clogged as well and said he could unclog it for us. And he discounted us for it as well. Will definitely be calling them again!

I was having issues with my water heater and needed a new one. Jed came over (on time) at a time convenient for me and did an excellent job of replacing the water heater while explaining the process in detail. I would highly recommend Hotline Plumbing and will use them again if needed!

This is my first house. It’s scary how much I don’t know about it. It’s even scarier when things go wrong, like when pipes start to leak and you call a guy who makes things worse and then another guy and another, until you’re ankle-​deep in mud shoveling water out with a SOLO cup.
But Jed. Jed is the guy that comes through to save you. He first came by the place to answer our general questions about fixtures and plumbing, giving us really simple and money-​efficient tips on maintenance. He just came by again to replace a leaking PVC, a broken valve, and an ill-​placed flex line with some gorgeous copper. On top of that, he gave me some more advice/​tips on other components of the house. He’s fast, knowledgable, and all around badass with incredible prices. My official go-​to plumber…
Next time, I’m not calling anyone else. Thanks, Jed!!!

They just left my house… I really don’t know what I’d do without them. It’s really stressful to have to deal with leaks in the house because you have to act fast and there’s a lot of time away from work and money involved. It’s even more stressful when it’s around a holiday like Thanksgiving.
They definitely saved the day. When I called them with my problem they were booked for the full day but they recommended that I go through a specific company to open up the ceiling and clean out before they can start working on the plumbing. Once I completed that they came today to actually fix the piping and reinstall the toilet (I guess it was never properly installed before I moved in and was leaking from the upstairs bathroom to the downstairs bathroom.) It was way more affordable than I thought it would be ($ 160).
They even arranged for that company to come back and for me to get a call from them to get the ball rolling.
They are the best!
This is definitely a homeowner’s nightmare for me but they made be experience a lot easier!

When you see a business getting 5 stars, you have to wonder how many friends and relatives wrote the reviews. But when you see a business *averaging* 5 stars over *hundreds* of reviews, you begin to see that it is no coincidence. .. there is something special about them. That is the case with Hot Line Plumbing in Northridge, CA.
Jed, the owner and plumber, and his assistant Pedro run a tight ship. It is based on doing good work and backing it up. Jed is very «matter of fact» in his mannerisms, which is appreciated because it tends to build trust. He’s not thinking of what to say. .. he just says it the way it is. I do not want my plumber acting like a used-​car salesman. Jed gets to the point, does good work, and moves on to the next job. If your pipes or fittings are cheap, he’ll tell you. If you need work, he will give you an accurate estimate. Best yet, if you only need something to be tightened or it’s a quick fix, he won’t con you into spending a lot of money.
I am not based in LA anymore, but was house-​sitting for a sister when some plumbing issues arose. She had Hot Line Plumbing’s business card taped to the inside of the kitchen sink cupboard doors. We called Jed, he came exactly as scheduled, very prompt. Since my sister’s place is always immacualte, she is always concerned about neatness. Well Jed and Pedro came in, wore little blue booties over their shoes and were very caring and careful about leaving the place as good, if not better, than how they found it. *He even gave me some free booties for my shoes when I joked about how neat and tidy my sister is. Appreciate that and his good nature.
Some items needed more attention than others and Jed had to come back, but the second time he didn’t charge a dime because it was just a minor fix. When he worked, I got out of the way, but if I had a question, he was more than happy to explain things. He knows his work. I realized that he was doing everything very deliberately and with great attentilon to detail. A true craftsman at his work.
Too bad he’s only in the LA /​San Fernandy Valley area. I’d love to clone this guy and have master plumbers all over the place, especially honest ones. 5 star review is well earned. I would recommend him for any plumbing needs. Thanks for a great job Jed.

I called Hotline purely based on the Unilocal!reviews and it was worth it! Giovanni was responsive, efficient and highly skilled. Service was great and affordable and the entire team at Hotline were so friendly. Plumbing issues can be a black hole of confusion but I felt assured that the work was done correctly. Everything was great!

Seems like problems with old homes never end. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Over the last year, I’ve had to deal with many issues around my home. The worst part is finding the right person for the job. Dealing with contractors and handymen is a real challenge. Most don’t show up, they play games or they just flat out try to rip you off.
Today was a plumbing issue day, but I knew it wouldn’t be a bad day. I called the most dependable, honest person I know for this type of work… Jed, from Hotline Plumbing. I sent him a message this morning, he promptly called me back, told me he would be here by 10:30 am and he kept his word. He quickly assessed the problem and got to work on it. When he finished, he asked me to check certain thing to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. It was.
This is the third time I have hired Jed, he never fails to do what he is supposed to do. There is no other plumber for me, you should make him your plumber too.

Highly recommend this company. Charlie and Ricki came early that morning and fix the problem in an hour with very little cost. They do think for the customers. Other plumbing company ask price for over 2000 to fix the problem, Hotline Plumbing only charge me 100. They are willing to figure out the best solution at least cost for customers.

Hotline plumbing is definitely worthy of its 5 star rating on Unilocal!
We just purchased a new home and the sewer inspection came out clean, however, there was a smell coming out from one of the shower drains. I called hotline plumbing for a quote on snaking a shower drain, and was provided with the price of 70.
This is lower than other plumbers, so I booked hotline plumbing !
It was easy to book a quick appointment (we wanted everything done before moving in).
Charlie and Rick were here to complete the job. They were very professional, clean and friendly! They wore booties in the house to cover their shoes and gloves for their hands, worked fast to snake the drain, and I had them snake another drain so that both would be clean! They showed me what they snaked out– they found baby wipes in there!
Not only did Charlie and Rick do a great job, they even cleaned my shower afterwards!
Their customer service is 100% hands down the best!
Highly recommended for all your plumbing needs!

Charlie came to the rescue when I got nothing but scheduling issues and delays from other 24 hour plumbing services. Charlie called back within minutes, and said how about I just come on by. He removed some serious main line blockages, trophy worthy, if you would hang something like this on a wall LOL, His pricing was more than fair, and in my case a great value!

If I could give Charlie, Jed and Hotline Plumbing 100 stars I ABSOLUTELY WOULD!!! They are the first plumbers to really, REALLY get it right the first time.
Clean, fun, honest and sincere. If you are are sitting on the fence trying to decide, look no further — contact Hotline immediately you won’t be disappointed!
First off, I waited a good 10 months before posting this to be sure that my sewer line would not back up again after they fixed it. Over the past 10 years I called all the usual suspects (Rescue-​Rootor Roto-​Rooter, Mike Diamond etc.) to diagnose and fix our sewer line. Their quote was at least double (if not triple) what Hotline charged. Plus, the guys that work for many of these corporately owned companies HAVE to charge more because they are really just renting the trucks from the companies and paying for the name. (AND a commission on what they charge YOU!)
Hotline is owner operated so they MUST maintain a reputation of quality and fairness in their price. I rented a snake from Home Depot for 10 backbreaking years and snaked the line myself — and I had finally had enough. Thankfully by this time Unilocal was blossoming and I was able to find Hotline Plumbing and bypass all the mucky-​muck of online advertising that basically blocked me from finding them 10 years ago.
I even had estimates that said they would have to rip out my ENTIRE walkway AND driveway to get to the pipes and it would ALL have to be repaved. My wife and I nearly had a heart attack. When Charlie came out he assessed that all they needed to do was tunnel underneath the walkway and he replaced the entire line!!! «Simple», he said.
Holy cow! Are you serious? I’ve been killing myself snaking this 100 foot monster out for 10 years in fear of a $ 15 – 20,000 bill? I was apprehensive to say the least! Pictures are more powerful than words, so I’ll leave you with a BUNCH that I took during the sewer repair process so that I could document and share the success (or failure) with all of you.
In this day and age, we HAVE to all stick together and let each other know what’s up — because the corporate jungle will eat us alive if we let it. Please pass this review on to all San Fernando Valley residents that are in need of a kind, well mannered and extremely capable group of hardworking guys.
A side note: Charlie’s wife came by to feed the crew and my wife and I were invited to join in and have a delicious home made meal with the crew. How’s THAT for SERVICE!!! :)
I can HONESTLY not recommend these guys ANY HIGHER. They saved my back and I can now breathe easy when I flush. ;) Peace
