Always nice here, very friendly and they always try to accommodate every one. Jesus is one if the best servers. Only 4 stars because the salad bar isn’t always up to par

Up until recently my friends and I had been regular customers at this location. No more. The general manager Steve threatened one of our party in front of us. What began as a merely mediocre situation with substandard customer service snowballed into a horrifying disaster. It began with having to wait unacceptably long times(5 – 10 minutes) to get our server’s attention and then have him take care of simple things like refilling our coffee. They were clearly understaffed that day. Perhaps that’s also why there were several pieces of food and garbage on the floor. No one bothered to monitor the area so that when spills and accidents predictably happen, they get cleaned up promptly. In addition, food trays went empty for extended periods of time. Unacceptable. But here’s where things went from annoying to infuriating. While politely waiting to order an omelet, the cook ignored my friend, taking care of customers who got into line after me. Then, he got belligerent because he put the ingredients I wanted on a regular plate instead of the small bowls. This led to a loud and embarrassing argument when all he wanted was an omelet. He was so upset at this point that he wanted to leave. Shortly after, Steve came up to my friend who was was clearly upset and began telling him about these very legitimate complaints. Instead of trying to diffuse the situation, he got into my friend’s face and accused him of «scaring his staff.» I can state for a fact that Joe used absolutely no threatening language or gestures. Steve made absolutely no effort to try to understand why he was upset, much less any effort to resolve the problem. Instead, my friend was the bad guy. Now, and in front of us, Steve threatened to call the police if Joe did not go. He’s a retired NYPD cop and was tempted to call the police himself, but decided it wouldn’t be fair to make that kind of scene in front of paying guests who didn’t deserve to have their brunch ruined. After the confrontation, none of the managers bothered to come by to check on us, or acknowledge the situation, much less apologize for ruining our brunch. In fact, Steve seemed to go into hiding after that as he was nowhere to be seen. As long as this Steve person is running that restaurant, neither my friends nor I will return.

Let me preface by saying that I’ve eaten at this location many times over the years. It’s akin to home for me(especially with their comforting Chicken Pot Pie and cornbread). This evening at 9:30(approximately an hour and a half before closing time), our party of four was seated. There was unfortunately really only one waiter(a middle-aged, hispanic gentleman) serving a very large section of tables, but as we’ve had him in the past, we weren’t concerned. Without conflict he took our drink orders, brought us cornbread(a double serving!), and took our meal orders. 2 Chicken Pot Pie Combos, 1 «Oh My» Omelette and 1 Santa Fe Chicken Bowl. Nothing crazy. The two pot pie dinners were — as usual — wonderful, albeit slightly under-filled. Paired with the included side salad and slice of pie(which we usually take to go), it is a hefty serving of food, and quite reasonable for $ 9.99. The«Oh My» Omelette was, indeed, «Oh My.» It is everything a meat-lovers omelette should be, with a variety of toppings and flavors in every bite. The Santa Fe Chicken Bowl, however, posed an unnecessary amount of conflict. First off, it arrived with white rice, instead of the advertised brown rice. As a diabetic, the person who ordered the dish can’t have white rice, and inquired with the server. «Oh,» she was told, «they were out of brown rice, so the cooks just substituted it in the back.» She explained that white rice really was not an option for her and had she known, she wouldn’t have ordered the dish. «So do you want me to throw it out or something?» At this point, he was trying to make HER feel bad because THEY had messed with her order and didn’t bother to notify her beforehand. «No, but I can’t eat it this way.» I asked if they could remake the dish with vegetables instead of the rice, as the rice is not just a side, but a bed upon which the chicken, sauce, and other grilled vegetables are mixed, and it this point the majority of the sauce has sunk into the rice. We were told in reply, «We only have broccoli and carrots in the back, and I’ll still have to throw out this dish if you want it remade.» As she was actually beginning to give way to the guilt of throwing out the meal because THEY had messed up her order, and because she didn’t want to argue anymore, the rice was scraped off, and the meal was eaten as is. Even with an extra serving of the sauce that was brought to the table, the chicken was INCREDIBLY dry and not even worth the effort. On top of that, she realized halfway through the meal that the dish also didn’t have the black beans advertised in the description. No explanation was ever given for that absence. As if this wasn’t enough, the salad bar(which had been added on by the same person who ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Bowl) was packed up almost 30 minutes before closing. Lovely. At the end of the meal, when we asked to speak to a manager, we were told(by the manager) that the substitution was made«So that you could still have the opportunity to enjoy the dish, rather than not making it at all because we didn’t have the brown rice.» Seeing as how the dish was practically inedible this way(and especially to that person), that wasn’t the case at all. My companions probably won’t be returning to this location, and if I do, it will be with great hesitation. 2 Stars because despite this debacle, the other meals were good. TL;DR — They make substitutions to the meal without consulting the patron, and then blame you if you want to remade. HOWHARDISITTOJUSTCOMEOUTANDSAYSOMETHING?!

My parents have been going to eat at Marie Calendar for years. The food is great and they always add new things for us to try, but the real reason is because Kimmy works in the bar on Fridays and treats them like royalty! I go to visit every once and a while, but usually for dinner. This morning I decided to treat myself to breakfast(California eggs benedict yummm). Kim wasn’t there, but Beatriz helped me and was just as sweet. So, it’s not just the food, it’s the amazing service that makes this one of my favorite restaurants! I was raving about it to a friend and he made mention that Kim waited on him a couple nights ago and he felt the same. We love you Kim!

I came here for breakfast and I didnt like the lady who served us she was about 45 years old and very grumpy looking, she gave my friend whine and the cup was dirty also didn’t assist us well because she wouldn’t come to our table often, they didn’t have much of a difference in the food everything had egg or tomato, I don’t like tomato’s so this wasn’t the spot for me in that case I didn’t enjoy this place. It was my first time too the one thing I did like is that it was like a buffet so they did have fruit at least they had something to replace what I don’t like.

So mad! I came in to buy some pies. I ordered the berry pie and a seasonal Apple caramel cheese pie. The girl at the counter was very rude, but I tried to ignore it when she went to get my pies. When she returned she got the display one. I asked if I can get a different one because I had previously seen a little Nat in their. Her response was: «you get this one, or nothing at all.» I was so shocked. «Nothing at all,» such a rude girl. Her name is Alondra, I called to Make a complain after leaving and it seemed no one cared.

Came here for Christmas. The wait was long but that’s to be expected. But we had the worst service ever ever ever. I ate the holiday chicken and it tasted terrible its very dry. The waiter never came back to check on us, we had to ask for everything, and I ordered pie and I asked for it to come out hot, and it’s ice cold. Even after I told him it was cold, he didn’t care. Very VERY bad service here tonight.

Came here with the loved ones for Thanksgiving because I almost burned down the house. Well, the backyard burned down along with my turkey fryer. WOW! What a blast! Anyway… Twenty bucks a plate, saw the server once, and the food portion and quality was the EXACTSAMETHING as the L. A. County Inmates. Gives me a GREAT idea for next year, and it won’t cost me a dime.

I get sad every time they close a Marie Callender’s. I grew up on this stuff and have lost the Burbank, Toluca Lake and Glendale locations over the years. This one is close to one of my work sites and it’s my go-to place for PIE. It’s always a hit when I bring a Marie’s pie to any party. Over the years I’ve probably had every one of their pies. The favorites are: The sugar-free Razzleberry and sugar-free Apple. These taste great– you’d never know they’re sugar-free and folks love them. Mincemeat– hard to find and only available for a few days around Christmas time(get the buttered rum sauce to go with– yum!). Key Lime, Peach, Strawberry — all seasonal and fantastic. The lemon meringue is probably my all-time favorite though. The lemon filling is tangy and fresh-tasting, not gluey like other places’ filling. The meringue is light and fluffy with a slightly browned top that is perfect. The crust is buttery and flakey, as pie crust should be. Very happy to have this location close by!

I always love coming to Marie Calender’s.I went there today with my mother and the waitress was very nice and helpful with ordering our food. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were delicious and my mother ordered a steak and shrimp. Everything was great. Love it!

I never would have thought of a buffet breakfast at Marie Callender’s but when we arrived one Sunday that was an option. So we tried it. Inexpensive and lots of options. Good wasn’t spectacular but all was good. Don’t miss Francisco the omelette maker! Service was good as always. One disappointment, though. The apple pie seemed a lot sweeter than I ever remember. Almost too sweet to be enjoyable. Did the recipe change or are my taste buds getting old and crotchety?

My 1st time here at this restaurant been here for the pies but never actually sat down and had their regular restaurant items. First off I have to say the service was phenomenal David our server was suchhhh a sweetheart!!! From the time he took our order to the very end of the check he was just amazing!!! I haven’t had good service like this in a while! Well overall don’t have too much to say as we weren’t that hungry and we were looking for a quick bite. They bring out a complimentary cornbread which mind you I’m not a fan of it at all but I actually really enjoyed theirs. It was so warm and the butter just melts right as your spread it. Very good!!! We orderes the fish and fries average nothing special was decent. I orderes the appetizer the chimis which are basically eggrolls with chicken, black beans, corn, and cheese. It was also garnished with a salad with pico de gallo and Chipotle ranch on top and on the side. It was actually really good and I definitely would order this again. All in all a good 1st time experience. If I ever decide to come again I will make sure to ask for David!

Service at this diner was very exceptional. Our waitress, Courtney was attentive and made the experience more enjoyable. She was friendly and very polite. The food was decent. We had the California eggs Benedict and their Ortega chicken sandwich. The Benedict was okay but too bland for our taste. The sandwich on the other hand was very good but was stacked too high. It fell apart with each bite but that’s not a problem for people who don’t mind to get messy. It was delicious and worth the effort. The number one thing was the service. I would recommend this restaurant/diner experience to any couple looking to get their grub on. Also…get some of the corn bread. It’s a secret gem here at Marie Callender’s. It’s especially good because of the honey infused butter they use to compliment the taste of the sweet corn bread. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Its been ages since I’ve been to a Marie Callender’s. Everytime I think of Marie Callender’s there are only 3 things that comes to mind. AWESOME Pies, Cornbreads, & Chicken Pot Pie’s. I happen to be here to pick up a few pies for Father’s Day. Of course, I always look forward to Fresh Strawberries(Seasonal). I was planning on getting 2 of the Fresh Strawberry Pies until i over heard a lady in front of me ordering a Peach Pie. Since it is Summer Time, I thought how refreshing it is to have a peach pie. I ended up ordering the Peach Pie and it was delicious. Of course the peaches that are in the pie is out of the can but it was still good. My family enjoyed it very much. You can’t go wrong with the pies here. Save the tin cans and return them when you come back. You get a little back for bringing it back. Enjoy!

It’s my first time going to Marie Callender’s my husband pick the place to celebrate Fathers Day. For the moment we enter to the restaurant, the employee already rude we were standing for quite some time and no one said anything to let us know if we can just seat our self or for someone to greet us but no one did. there’s employee behind the counter and didn’t even say anything or if that someone will be right with there to help us. I understand if the place is busy but it’s not. Then I asked if we can have the booth and the person just roll his eye like we’re bothering him. At that time my husband was ready to live the restaurant I should of listened to him. Looks like most of the employee didn’t want to be there. Here’s the worst part, I ordered kids Penne for my two year old daughter and inside is a huge bug you can see hair on that bugs leg I took a picture and it’s disgusting. Most of my friends seen the picture, it’s one healthy bug. I don’t think I will ever ever go back there again. Just the attitude of people some people that work the including the manager. This whole experience for me really sucks, and the special gift inside my daughters penne pasta is the Icing on the cake. I just wanted to celebrate a special fathers Day with the husband and our two kids and it was the worst Fathers Day experience ever. I really wish I can post the picture!!! I’m really disappointed and to my knowledge MC supposed to be a «comfort food» for me it’s more like microwave food with extra ingredients that we didn’t order, that’s has four hairy legs and body

I am not usually into diner type of restaurants because the food is usually bland and the selections are very basic. However I was pleasantly surprised that Marie calendars had put some effort into making their menu a bit more interesting. Our server Christina was super nice and she made the meal even more enjoyable. However I have to leave three star because my sister told me her friend saw a mouse there, so I won’t eat here anymore and I would believe it because their building is really old.

Pies for days! It’s not a ma and pa indie establishment but that doesn’t stop them from making hundreds of perfect homemade pies as good as the indie bakers. They’ve got it down. Flavor, presentation and size of each pie is unmatched. I love their Apple, Blueberry, Cherry, Coconut Cream, Double Lemon Cream, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Cheery, Banana Cream, Lemon Meringue, Key Lime and Custard pies. mmmm During the month of February they do a ‘half off all pies’ gig. It’s dangerous and insanely awesome. You can easily walk out with six whole pies… Guilty lol. The staff is super helpful and nice. They’re pretty quick with the orders. You can call ahead and order or just walk in and pick up. This location is pretty big with a decent size parking lot. The pie stand is right at the entrance as soon as you walk in. Can’t miss it. Once you order your pies the wait is on average 5 minutes depending on how many customers there are, but they’re pretty quick! Have never dined in, I’m just here to grab some pies. If you haven’t tried a Marie Callendar’s pie then treat yourself. Tips: you can pop them in the freezer and keep the pies for a while. Some pies are more freezer friendly than others.

It’s 12:30PM and I’ve got 2 hours to kill while I get my new tires installed at the Costco across the street. And damn I’m hungry! Thank goodness for Marie Callendar’s. Good old fashioned comfort fare and pies to boot. Noon on a Friday seems like a good time to stroll in. The place was quiet and the hostess accommodated me immediately with a window booth, where my server Annette promptly tended to my needs. Shortly after my drink order, Annette plopped down a huge hunk of cornbread with soft whipped butter on the side. It caught me completely by surprise! I might have let out a quiet gasp which didn’t go unnoticed. ‘Yes it’s my first time here’, I said. It sure beats two day-old rolls and a pat of butter, I tell you. I ordered the fish and chips which actually appears on their menu as ‘Southern Fried Sole Filets’. The portion was generous and everything was delicious. The batter, crispy and light and the sole, moist and flaky, perfectly cooked. The four filets sat on a bed of crispy flavorful fries and to round things off, a good helping of coleslaw which makes really good use of red onion. And don’t forget their signature tartar sauce and two wedges of lemon if you are so inclined. I personally do not like to douse my fish with lemon. Overall, this was a great first experience. Fish and chips are easily botched in many places but this Marie Callendar’s does it right. However, given the relative calm, this was not a particularly challenging service. Perhaps I’ll try them again on a busier time of day. Good job Marie Callendar’s of Northridge! Great fish n chips, great service!

Its always great to see manager work the floor. I have to say that your remodel looks great. The colors are very appealing, most of all their soft. Great Job with the remodel. Just stopped in a piece of pie and a cup of coffee. There was a little wake, however was immediately acknowledge and greeted as I entered. Was stated within about 5 minutes. The remodel really looks great. As for my slice of pie, HMMMM. Delicious. To the server great job on being attentive to all your guests during my visit and to us. The store looked very clean and well maintained and most of all the remodel. Great Job.
