The Boba Truck

Every single time I’m at grubfest I kid you not, I made it a must to visit this truck at least twice. I occasionally work grubfest as well so whenever I don’t get to attend I get so upset! That’s how delicious these boba teas are! I’m tried the Irish Earl Grey with boba it was delicious. I usually get a mix of pineapple and mango black tea with boba and it’s one of the best boba beverages I’ve ever had.

I recently had a chance to sample a few of the bobas at this truck and I was both amazed with their quick service (something that I often get annoyed with when eating a truck, given usual wait times for busy trucks) but more so, their teas.
I sampled the oolong taro milk tea, the honeydew milk tea and the Japanese Barley Green Tea. The Barley tea was perhaps the one I was most excited about. When I was in Korea and Japan there were several grain teas that I enjoyed and since I so rarely see it on menus here, it was a nice nostalgic treat. But the Taro milk tea was far and away the tastiest of the bunch
It was also my first experience with mini boba and lychee jelly. While I liked the tang of the jelly, the mini-​boba were perhaps just too small texture wise. A regular sized boba is already a two bit affair, but the mini-​boba just felt like taking a bunch of slippery pills, so I’ll be sticking with the standard boba on a future visit.
On the whole, I have many more teas to taste so I’ll be looking out for this truck in the future!

This is a great little (tiny) place in a rather «seen better days» strip mall. But the boba truck is really nice inside.
The boba is pretty yummy. Pretty much standard for a good boba place. I got the almond milk tea with boba, half sweet. It was just the right amount of sweetness.
There aren’t any ice or yogurt drinks, which bummed my daughter. She tried the mango but wasn’t crazy about it.
It didn’t knock my socks off but that doesn’t mean I would never go back. It’s probably the best in the area.

Service was amazing. The shop was clean. The tea flavors are good, but the milk tea is more watery and not as creamy as i would prefer. Their almond egg pudding is unique, but nothing amazing.

This spot & Quickly Van Nuys are the most underrated boba shops in the valley. I stopped going to the places closer to CSUN because the boba quality is just not comparable to these two. What I love about this place is that their boba doesn’t have this ooey gooey sticky layer on top. The pearls are perfectly cooked and are chewy, not hard. I had the English Breakfast milk tea and it was absolutely delicious! Their French Rose black milk tea is another favorite of mine! Great service and drinks :) It’s places like this that definitely need more lovin’.

I got the cherry blossom drink and it was okay… I didn’t adjust the sweetness because I wanted to taste how they intended the drink to be. I am giving them a rating based on the drink, but I will most likely go back to try a different drink. Their boba was pretty good and they give a fair amount! Plus every Wednesday they have a specific location. I would say it’s worth a shot, pretty good boba from a truck!

Their boba is always so fresh and has a slight bit of sweetness to it.
I usually order Thai iced tea with regular boba. Love it! A few times I’ve ordered the lavender milk tea and wow that one is so good too! It has an amazing smell and has a flowery-​earthy taste.
The staff is always really friendly!

I really enjoyed my tea from here I had the cherry blossom milk tea with boba and the tea was delightful. The boba was perfect. The girl behind the counter was very helpful when recommending teas. I will definitely be back here

Stopped by the truck while at the Festival of Books at USC.
This truck easily had the longest line of any of the food/​drink trucks at the event so I chose to give it a shot.
The menu is great, easy to read and they have a lot of different varieties of teas to choose from which was great! The employee that took our order was very friendly and knowledgeable and about the various teas when we asked questions about flavor.
They are also really good about allowing you to customize and have multiple addins to choose from: Boba, Mini-​boba, Lychee, and aloe balls… The price was fair $ 10.00 for two drinks. We received our drinks really quickly considering how many people were in line and had ordered.
The drinks… DELICIOUS! Without a doubt worth the money and time waiting in line.

Boba!!! The first couple times I encountered them were from the actual boba truck on the streets. I saw it one time at the health sciences campus at USC, and was so excited to get my boba fix!!! The staff there was nice and the service was quick… and they had mini boba!!! (My favorite!)
Then on Unilocal,I stumbled upon the listing for the café… and it was somewhat close to my house in the valley. I have only been a handful of times, but the taste of their milk teas is on point!!! They do not have smoothie options as they want to stay authethic, so I understand if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to come here… but i plan to still come here.
They do not have stamp cards, but instead the five star rewards program. You sign up with your phone number and can get points on the drinks you buy. I earned 3 points on a large milk tea, and 15 points will get you a free boba. And you get an extra point for your Unilocal check in… score!!!
The parking situation can get hard as it shares it with a lot of other businesses, but I haven’t had any issues coming in and out for my quick fix.

Amazing bomba$$ jasmine green milk tea with pearl. Taste fresh and not powdery at all! Love love their strong tea taste!!! However, their regular sugar level might be sweet for some ppl. I asked for half sugar and it was a perfect sweet level for me.
I ordered regular sized cup bc it was my first time there & after taking a first sip, I wished I had upgraded to a large =\ it was so goood!!!
Where can I find such boba place like this in norcal?

This place has an amazing selection of regular, milk, and premium tea. Not to mention their ever changing secret menu and the endless amount of combinations you can create. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but if nothing on the menu catches your eye just ask them for their recommendations. They’ll even let you see and smell the teas if you want to get a better idea of what you’re in for. Every time I get boba from somewhere else I leave slightly disappointed but these guys get it right virtually every single time but if on the one million to one chance they do mess up your order or if you just plain don’t like the tea just let them know and they’ll kindly make you another tea of your choosing.
In a nutshell, this place is the best in the valley and their roaming boba truck is just as good too!

The Boba Truck saves my boba craving every Thursday and occasionally on Tuesdays! Price range is 3.75 to 4.25 $ and they have a bunch of options and their mini boba is delicious!

After my experience at fruttino, my friends told me to try this new boba place out and I didn’t hesitate! Just as expected, their boba is so spectacular! I loved my experience here. Totally coming back and traveling 30 minutes to have some of their boba!

Small shop with not too much to talk about aside from the boba. But the boba is great. Prices are fair and if you check in on Unilocal,you get a bonus point towards your reward program. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable and will customize your drink however you want it.
Their tea is freshly brewed in special machines and they don’t mask the tea with lots of sugar. Be warned, if you’re into really really sweet drinks, you should let them know so they can add extra sugar. No matter what, they will adjust or make you a new drink if you are unsatisfied. Awesome place.

Not your typical bubble tea shop. No powders or syrups here. Fresh brewed to order tea! Yes… actual tea leaves! My fave is the jasmine tea and rose teas. I do wish there was a larger selection of toppings.
Overall experience: great service, great tea. Must try if you’re in the area.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day because there are a lot of good reviews. This was my first time trying it so I got the original milk tea with boba. My boba was too hard and the milk tea had too much of the tea leaf flavor. Original milk tea was like $ 3.75 or so, but I can go out to 626 and get better for $ 1.25! If I’m paying $ 3.75 for their drinks, I don’t expect to get a $ 1.25 quality drink. Time to turn it up a notch! I will have to go back and try something else and hope that I catch them on a better day and when their boba isn’t so hard.

This place has the best Boba and tea. I love their Jasmine green milk tea. It has a bold taste. I have also tried their French rose and candy apple green tea. Try it if you have never been here. Their Boba is just right

Ah, boba. Sweet heavenly deliciousness. This truck does it right & without the milk. The peach black tea with boba had the right amount of sweetness. But, not enough ice. Or maybe the ice melted tooo quickly. It was really hot today. Less than $ 10. Foodgasmic. Now, I don’t have to trek across the ocean for good boba.

3.5 This place was just ok. I didn’t think it was anything spectacular but apparently for this part of the Valley the options are limited thus the high reviews. I got the regular tea with mini boba and although the boba was pretty good the tea itself wasn’t anything special. For the cost I would’ve thought it would be a bit more unique.
There were 3 small tables so not the best place to go for a big group of people but if you are just going in and out for drinks this place works. Plenty of parking at the lot but I can see how it could get full.

If I could give them zero stars I would. My coworker brought be some apple milk flavored Boba and it tasted kinda funny. I thought nothing of it but I let someone else have it and when he was almost finished it we noticed something floating inside. It was some kind of weird tiny bowl. Smelled like rotten milk and we were all very disgusted by it especially the guy who drank it. Needless to say I will NEVER go back or refer anyone to this place.

This is the second time I tried this boba truck at Animé Expo. I always come to this truck specifically for their selection of rose-​flavored teas. I’m sad that I’m writing this review a month later, because now I have forgotten the owner’s name. He was the one who introduced me to the rose flavors.
I had asked him what was popular amongst the selection of rose teas, and apparently it’s the French Rose Milk Tea (premium milk tea). However, I decided to go with the owner’s favorite and ordered the Rose Oolong Milk Tea (also premium) with boba. I wanted a milky drink, but with a stronger tea-​flavor to it so this was the best choice for me!
I haven’t visited their physical boba place, but their boba truck comes in handy whenever Animé Expo comes around in the summer. I’d say this would be my go-​to truck for sweet drinks and I would definitely recommend it to others. I haven’t tried it enough to give it 5 stars, but so far it’s promising. Maybe my next try will convince me to update the rating to a 5!

I LOVE BOBAAAAAA.
I have a boba problem. And this place feeds my addiction :) Nice clean, minimalistic feel. Menu on the wall is fairly organized. Bobaristas are all courteous as well.
Drinks: I have tried their earl grey milk tea — yum! Almond oolong milk tea (suuuuper yum). Rose oolong milk tea was major yum as well. Their boba topping is sooo good. Ahhh I want some now.
Would recommend? YES. I drive sooo far to get here because it’s sooo good.

Meh was reaction after taking a sip of my Special Sweet Tea with boba. I’ve been to a lot of boba places over the years and this boba truck does nothing to set itself apart (other than that it is on wheels).
My only complaint was that the boba is a little on the hard side. I have some pretty high standards when it comes to chewing balls so you really have to WOW me. Other than that, everything else is average… the juice, the price, menu, etc…
Meh. It’s out of convenience.

Your balls are not what they used to be
On a Saturday afternoon, you stopped by USC for festival of books and you made us wait 1 hour+ for mediocre tea and boba as hard as rocks. I could have went home and watched an episode of game of thrones in that time. Shame!

I think this update to this review is long over due!
I was originally upset when they first moved further away to their own location (as originally when I started going they were in the White Rabbit) and they’ve sinced moved a couple blocks down in the opposite direction of where I live — making it more out of the way — but I find myself here even more now!
The parking lot is small but it’s actually bigger than their last one! And I’ve rarely had problems getting a spot!
The inside is definitely minimalist but that’s not a problem for me — as I’m grabbing this to go. It’s very clean and the people are super friendly!
I’m seriously obsessed with their French Rose milk tea! I know I have it at least once a week — if not more than that! It’s so amazingly floral and I love that they use real tea! Not that powdered junk or syrups! It’s so good! Not too sweet, really floral and just very well balanced! I also love that when I want to try other teas — they’ll bring out the jar of tea and let you smell it beforehand! Amazing!
I find their boba to be great! Definitely never hard and perfectly flavorful! I do love their lychee jelly as well!
I’ve tried every milk tea place that I can get my hands on — all of them in the valley for sure and many in LA! Bounce is too sweet in my opinion (it always gives me a headache), and Boba Time in the mall is closer but definitely not even in the same category, just to name a few! Only Ozero in Little Tokyo can compare to this place in my opinion!
They also do the 5 stars — 15 points and you get a free drink and double point Thursdays!

The store looks plain. Not sure if they have finished the decoration? Nothing on the wall, not even any painting or any decorations. Few tables inside the store. But it looks like more people buying to-​go than sitting down inside the store.
The Service: Efficient and friendly. Didn’t wait too long for our orders.
The Drinks: The price is higher than Bounce near CSUN, also less varieties. They have reward point system. Each boba drink considers one point, if check-​in with Unilocal gets an extra point. After collecting 15 points, you get a free drink.
They do give good amount of boba. The texture of the boba is chewy, a little bit hard for me.
The Parking: Plaza parking (free), day time might be challenged because there are many other retailers in the same little plaza.

Hands down one of my favorite boba places anywhere in California.
I’m from a very Asian neighborhood in the Bay Area where boba options are everywhere. Even then, I miss the Boba Truck when I go back to the Bay. It’s amazing the level of service and quality they deliver despite being limited to a mobile truck.
The service I’ve received here has never been less than the best. Everyone who works here is happy to help you, and they encourage you to let them know if your drink needs any modifications. I’m always touched when they remember my name and ask how I’ve been. Small things like that aren’t necessary, but they’re great for encouraging repeat customers.
Now for the drinks themselves. Don’t come here expecting any slushies or smoothies, come here for damn good tea. They brew each order individually rather than creating flavors with syrups. For example, the Fuji Apple tea is freshly brewed apple tea, not black or green tea with apple-​flavored syrup. They do add some sugar to sweeten the tea, but you can always ask for your tea with less, half, or no sugar. I prefer their fruit teas with normal sugar and milk teas with half sugar.
You really can’t go wrong with any flavor from their extensive menu. They have everything from Elite Taiwan Oolong to Darjeeling to Cherry Blossom. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but some include:
Fuji Apple Black Tea
Peach Oolong Tea
Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea
Rose Green Milk Tea
The boba itself is perfectly chewy and lightly sweetened, although they have other toppings as well. I especially like the mango stars with any non-​milk tea. They’re not too sweet and add a nice texture.
Overall, an excellent place for quality boba. Drinks are about $ 4, and make sure you get a rewards card so you can get some free drinks. They give double points on Thursday, so make good use of those!

The menu is fairly extensive and despite the variety it doesn’t seem too overwhelming. It’s a great layout that is very easy to understand.
With that said they have a very nice option that allows for further customization of the drink. Usually you can choose either hot or cold and what kind of toppings, but here you can choose how strong the tea is and how sweet to make the drink.
I come from an Asian family that drinks tea like water so it was no surprise to myself when I brought home six cups of the passion fruit green tea my entire family balked at how watery it tasted. I thought it tasted fine, nothing too amazing but not terrible either. So as I was headed home today from school I decided to pay another visit because I remember seeing there was the option for a stronger brew.
I bought one more passion fruit green tea with more tea leaves and it was a 25 cent charge. Nothing that would break the bank. It definitely made a difference. I could taste a much stronger tea flavor. I had my mother try it and told her it was from another store and asked her opinion of it. She said it’s so much better than the one I gave her last time. It was a very smug moment for myself when I was able to point out it was from the same location as last time.
I actually also tried a regular milk tea which was pretty good. No real complaints. Milk tea is pretty standard and screwing that up would be a big no-​no for any tea establishment.
I also asked a recommendation from the girl at the counter for an extra surprise mystery drink. Initially she was steering me in the direction of a floral milk tea but she decided on giving me the barley milk tea instead. So of course if it’s good enough the staff it must be great and I wasn’t disappointed either. Although I may ask for a stronger tea brew and increase the sugar by just a tad bit more. It could’ve been mind blowing but I guess I’ll settle for great.
There are two minor complaints I have though.
One is the fact that it’s on the corner of Roscoe and Reseda, which is a very busy intersection. I find myself having to make a U turn so I can turn in and when I leave I have to do another U turn to go in the direction I want.
The second being that I was fooled by the cup holders because when I braked all of my drinks tumbled over. It seems that its purpose is to let you carry it in a bag as it gives it a flat surface but it does nothing to hold them in. So make sure you tie those bags if you order multiple drinks.

It’s a little confusing, but this is a boba café and not a truck (although they apparently still have a truck for catering events). I happened to first stop by on a warm January day (this is L.A.!) for a large lavender black milk tea with boba. Delicious!
The inside is clean and sparse with nice little touches like the bamboo and succulent plants. They only serve tea, with or without boba or popping jelly or aloe bits. Parking can be challenging in this small lot that they share with several other businesses. They are close to CSUN and seem to cater to their students who eat and drink in the area.
Today, it was yet another warm day (now it’s February in L.A.), and I stopped back in. The staff is really friendly and knowledgable. I asked for suggestions based on my positive first experience with the lavender. An Osmanthus Oolong was suggested… the smokey oolong paired with the slightly flowery Osmanthus was just what I needed after a grueling Monday. Refreshing!
They have a slew of fascinating flavors to try: Fuji green apple, honeydew, French rose, Sri Lankan, Japanese barley, passionfruit, Earl Grey, lychee, taro, Taiwanese & cherry blossom to name just a few. Not your ordinary boba place. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Now don’t you want a boba???

Still a relatively new location so I guess they’re still in the process of decorating and working out the kinks. More like 3.5 stars, but I’ll round up.
Came here and ordered a premium milk tea, a regular cherry blossom milk tea. Cost is $ 4.00. I slurped it all up within 15 minutes, and I was left with half a cup of ice.
Premium teas are $ 3.75 and regular teas are $ 3.50. Upgrade to a large for $ 0.50 more. You can also had a boba, aloe, or lychee jelly which is already included in the price. A tad pricey for the amount you get. Yes, it’s not powder and they do brew actual tea leaves, but the cups are a bit small for the price you pay.
Of all the boba places in the SFV, they are superior to the other shops since they actually brew tea. They have a lot of different tea flavors and are able to adjust it to your sweetness liking.
Located in the same corner as El Pollo Loco and share the same lot, so parking may be limited during peak hours. Service was okay. She wasn’t too friendly or inform me she’d adjust my drink if it wasn’t to my liking like the workers at their other location.

First let me say how happy I am to be reviewer number 3, and even happier that The Boba Truck now has a brick and mortar location! No more wistfully wishing that the truck happens to be near me around the time I happen to want it. Now I can and WILL make sure to get my boba fix whenever I’m in the area, anytime (within opening hours). Luckily I happened to be in the area over this past holiday weekend for their soft opening.
Now I’m no tea or boba expert but I sure do love me some freshly brewed loose leaf tea. You can always taste the difference in quality compared to places that use powder (ew) or artificially sweet syrups in their drinks.
Their menu selection is categorized into regular tea ($ 3.50), regular milk tea ($ 3.75), premium tea ($ 3.75), and premium milk tea ($ 4) sections. Of course I had to go premium. The first two drinks that caught my eye were the Cherry Blossom Green Milk Tea and the Fuji Apple Green Milk Tea. We got both in large size with mini boba (+$ 0.50 each for the size upgrade). I like that the prices already include boba/​jelly/​whatever (no having to overthink if I should pay more for more not-​so-​healthy calories). I also think that’s fairly reasonable since the drinks only have a small amount of ice compared to other places.
The Cherry Blossom Green Milk Tea was sweet yet subtle, not overwhelming. The Fuji Apple Green Milk Tea packed more of a flavor punch with its stronger, tart taste. Of course, being milk tea both were creamy, smooth and delicious. Next time I might ask for my tea to be a bit stronger, but I did enjoy the light and refreshing taste. (You can request for stronger/​lighter and adjusted sweetness level also.) The mini boba was a tad too mini for my personal preference but not so bad whenever I got a mouthful. The texture was the perfect balance of soft and chewy, but not too chewy.
After having high quality tea and milk tea boba, I just can’t ever go back to subpar places like Lollicup, ha (yeah I said it). I look forward to trying their other drinks after their grand opening.
