Wet Seal

I normally don’t do reviews, but I was treated very well, I had too. I have worked retail growing up and I know all the do’s and don’ts. For one, I was greeted within seconds of walking into the store. As I shopping I came across a shirt that I like that was out of reach. I was going to make my husband to get it for me, but the same person who greeted noticed I needed help. She approached me and asked what size I needed. Later, she took all the clothes I was holding and started a fitting room without me having to ask. After I walked out the fitting room she asked me how it went she took all my clothes and took it with her to the register, letting me know that she would hold on to the items until I was ready just so I can continue shopping comfortably. I came to find out she was the manager. She was so sweet! I would definitely go back as long as she’s the store manager!

I have a love hate relationship with Wet Seal. I realize I am probably a tad to old to wear most of their clothing, but they have some clothing that doesn’t look tacky to me at times. Most of the clothing here is a mixture of slutty or way too teeny bopper. That being said there are some clothing there that’s perfectly fine.
They often have great sales. The better sales are typically online though.
The clothing here won’t last forever. The clothing isn’t great quality. Many items hung up already have loose threads so be careful when you buy things here.
I have to agree with the reviews here about the return policy. HORRIBLE return policy especially for online returns. Apparently you only have 14 days from the PURCHASE date (not the date it was received) to do a free in store return. It may take 8 days to actually get to your door leaving you with less than a week to actually make a return getting your $$ back. Even though they had a big thing about holiday returns extending you time, that’s only to exchange your clothing or to get store credit. I’ll be honest though, it’s my fault for not reading all the fine print (and there’s a lot). If you want to return for your $$ back after the 14 days, you have to pay $ 7 shipping. Probably one of the worst return policies I have ever seen for a chain store.

I normally do not do low reviews, but this place earned it. my sister and I went out of our way to come here and return some boots that she had bought online.
They told us that we could not do an even exchange as the price was not the same. We bought the boots we found in the store because they were cute, and decided to return the boots by shipping them back.
It turns out we could have done the exchange in the store. Bad customer service on the employees.
They were helpful in spending money, but not helpful with returns… go figure. not sure if I would come back.

I went to went to wet seal, and nobody was helping me. Like what kind of service do you guys give ??
Well anyways this lovely young lady gave me the best Costumer service I can ever ask for. For having a terrible day, she made me smile and gave me my confidence I needed to gain back. I ended up buying the whole store !!

Let me be clear, I love the clothes at Wet Seal and I shop there a lot. I have never had a bad experience until today and it is based solely on the lack of proper staffing etiquette.
Tonight I was shopping and as I was in the dressing room, another woman was in a room as well, and her boyfriend was waiting for her. They are talking and all of a sudden they are dirty talking each other. While I thought it was just a disgusting and disrespectful couple, I come out of the dressing room and find that it was an EMPLOYEE whose boyfriend was visiting and hanging around while she was working.
First of all, your job is your job and your sex life is your sex life. When they become involved in each other and makes customers feel uncomfortable, then there is a problem. How disrespectful can you be to be talking like that when they saw a customer walk into a dressing stall and are saying these horrendous things in front of me? It is just disgusting and clearly this woman does not know how to act in a work environment.
I will continue to shop there, but Wet Seal, I hope you read this and teach your employees how to act in front of customers. Tonight was extremely disappointing.

other than the fact that the cloths are super cheap (meaning they don’t last) the girls that work there are SUPER RUDE. Not helpful at all, its so unprofessional to have to hear them talking about their «boy problems» during check out. come on girls try and act like you have just a little class… Don’t plan to shop here anymore.

Bought a present for my girlfriend, too expensive bad customer service. stay away.

Never mind the fact that well over 50% of the merchandise at Wet Seal looks like it belongs on a twelve year old hooker. Never mind how much you must pay in order to successfully attain the twelve year old hooker look, or how terrible the service will be whilst you do it.
You might never mind the whole store, but for one thing – call it an anti-​caveat, if you’d like – buried deep in the back of the store, to the right: the clearance rack.
On a regular day, it is filled, like the store itself; with tacky, too-​expensive garbage; on a deep discount day, everything is cheap enough to justify buying any number of fifty-​cent belts and panties, backpacks and dresses, to the point that the cost transcends any inherent tackiness, rendering the purchases inspired.
This does not make Wet Seal a good store – it is not – but it does (pretend that «does» has been italicized) make it a good place to pop into if and when (and only when) the red «Clearance» sign appears in the window.
Two and a half stars, rounded down to two because, umm, it’s Wet Seal.

I haven’t been to Wet Seal since I was in junior high. However, I was at the mall last week shopping (Dec. 10), and saw the window display at Wet Seal. They had a Kanye West CD along with a t-​shirt for $ 20. I decided to buy the CD/​shirt combo thinking I could give the CD to my boyfriend, and I’d keep the shirt. I came home and found out my boyfriend already had the CD.
I came back literally a few days (Dec. 13) later to do an exchange. When I first made the purchase, I was told by the clerk there are no credit/​cash refunds, but that exchanges could be made until January 31. I found a sweater roughly the same price as the CD/​shirt combo and waited in line to do the exchange.
To make a long story short, the cashier told me that they have a no return/​no exchange policy regarding CDs. I could not imagine why, especially since the CD is still wrapped and unopened, and the shirt is unworn and has its tags; everything is saleable. I then spoke to the store manager and explained to him the situation including the fact that I was not informed of this at the time of the purchase, but unfortunately he does not «have the power» to do the exchange. He gave me the District Manager’s phone number and told me to explain the issue to her and that she would possibly be able to help me.
It has been over a week, and I have literally left 4 messages for the District Manager explaining the situation and asking her to call me back. I have received no response from her, and this lack of response really tells me a lot about how much a company cares about their customers.
(By the way, the District Manager for L.A. County is Crystal Heisen who can be reached at 949−699−3900 ext. 4233. Feel free to clog her voicemail with your complaints about Wet Seal!)
If you look on the BBB’s website, you will see Wet Seal’s rating as an «F». After my experience with Wet Seal, I can understand why. In addition to their crappy employees, their tacky clothing styles, and the cheap fall-​apart quality of their clothing, they obviously don’t care about attracting customers or keeping customers, and would rather lose a potential customer than make their customers happy. What’s really sad is they don’t realize that the power of word-​of-​mouth or even sites such as
where people can share their experiences and can help or hurt a retailer. Today, I wound up writing to the Vice President of Store Operations and letting her know about my experience. Wet Seal needs to realize that consumers have the ability to help or hurt a retailer during these hard economic times when so many stores are struggling and failing to make a profit.
If you’re looking for clothing on a budget, I suggest going to H&M or Charlotte Russe who have better selections of clothes, affordable prices, generally better employees and higher quality merchandise. They have good ratings on the BBB website, so that should tell you something.
In general, avoid Wet Seal. In my opinion, the clothes are generally trashy and tacky, and they just straight up look cheap. I honestly think Wal Mart’s clothing is higher quality and more fashionable than what Wet Seal offers.

You’d think all teen girl stores would be roughly the same, but they aren’t. Wet Seal particularly sucks.
