Broad River Animal Hospital

We used to take our dog here many years ago until they were performing surgery on him (neutering him) and they gave him too much anesthesia, left the room, and when they came back he had stopped breathing. They did offer to not charge us for the surgery (how kind…) but their cold attitude on the phone and the ineptitude of the staff performing the operation (as well as whoever was supposed to be monitoring him afterwards) was just appalling.
I will grant that fact that this happened several years ago, but I hate the thought of someone else taking their beloved pet here and facing the same nightmare we faced.
It’s possible they’ve gotten better over the years, perhaps they’ve changed staff, but the attitude I got on the phone when I called them to see if anyone had brought in our dog that went missing the previous day was just as cold and indifferent as when they called to tell us they’d killed our dog.
If you’re looking for a vet in this area I would suggest Grove Street in New Canaan, Pound Ridge, or (if you’re looking for a vet that specializes in cats) A Cat’s Place in Norwalk. And I can’t say enough good things about the VCA Emergency vet in Norwalk, they saved both my cat and my dog’s life several times over.

My mommy and daddy have been bringing me here since I was a puppy. Dr. Zimels takes really good care of me but I love everyone else here too including Dr. Frazier and the rest of the team at Broad River. And if I act cute enough, they always give me extra treats!

I have been very happy with this Vet’s office. I am always able to get an appointment the day I call. Granted they are not with the same veterinarian every time, but that is not a problem since ALL of the vets there are excellent. The office is clean and everyone there makes a big fuss over our dog, she actually loves going there! I definitely trust this animal hospital.

Great vets, great technicians! They are super sweet to our dog and everyone seems to genuinely care for the animals and their people. I’ve never had to wait for an appointment and their hours are pretty easy to work around, even for a NYC commuter like me!

This is a wonderful place and Dr. Senker is by far the best vet I’ve ever been to. I have a 3 year old miniature dachshund and a 3 month old german shepherd puppy and he is great with each of them. I also have 2 cats who have yet to come, but they will come shortly! You never feel like tests or antibiotics are recommended unnecessarily and they always call to see how your pet is doing.

We’re really glad to have discovered this clinic. All the vets are personable and knowledgeable, the techs are great with the animals, it’s clean, and appointments are easy to make. Highly recommend.
