I must say that these cats didn’t get 5 stars for doing my work, because they didn’t. However, not because they didn’t want to but instead because I had came by their request to diagnose an issue with my girl friends car. They were actually closing for the day. The job that needed done would’ve taken days –
Not only was Carlos an amazing guy to talk to but very honest and informative who also referred me to another honest shop that day who is now handling the job.

After an extensive search for a good mechanic, I am thankful I found rusty automotive on Unilocal.Turns out my old mechanic just took me for my money and didn’t do the repairs on my car as he should have. Thanks to rusty’s I now have my car back to normal or actually running better than what I recall. I had my break pads/​rotters replaced and had new motor mounts installed. It was a pleasure doing business with such honest people, the mechanics there are so friendly and knowledgeable… Thank you Rusty & Carlos for taking care of my car. I will most definitely be using Rusty’s automotive from here on.

Still loving that we have such an honest mechanic. He fixed my car again. I thought I had a blown head gasket (in addition to my charging problem). It was just condensation in the exhaust, and that’s what he said.

I’ve been a customer of Rusty for 20 years. He is honest, reliable, and does good work. He has told me when it’s not worth repairing a car (even though it decreases my use of his services), He also has saved me several times when my van broke down and I needed it right away for business. You normally have to make an appointment, but he is worth the wait.

Super professional! I was blown away by how honest Rusty was as compared to other places I’ve been before. No lies, no upsales on things I didn’t need. The price he quoted me was what I paid exactly. I will be coming here again for sure! Highly recommend!

We used to go there to Rusty’s. I’ve heard of him from my old friend, and we’ve been going there since 2000. We moved to another city and bought new cars, so we don’t need much repair. Well, when our cars get old and start needing lots of repairs, we will go to see you. I don’t trust other places, so I will drive to his place to have my car checked. It’s worth driving long distance to get my car fix.

Rusty provides excellent and professional customer service and if you’re a fisherman, you get to hear some great fishing stories!

I have been using Rustys Automotive Repair for over a decade! I can’t tell you how much money he and his crew have saved me (and the Company I work for) over that time! Never once have I had bad service or repair. If you have a question or are unsatisfied with something (I don’t know why anyone would be)…but Rusty is right there to speak to and help out. Great guy and business. ALL my neighbors use him and I send all my friends there as well!!!

I love Rusty’s. My entire family and I have been going there for years. The guy is super honest and does good work. He explains in detail what needs to be done and you leave feeling you were taken good care of instead of taken advantage of like in most shady repair shops.
I have a Toyota Sienna and the passenger sunshade needed to be replaced. The dealer was going to charge me an arm and a leg; Rusty’s replaced it for a nominal fee! Same with programming a new key. I’m so grateful to have found such a reliable mechanic!

Extreme Low-​Ballers whenever you’re talking about salvage pickups! Whatever you’re reading that’s «great» must be from family and friends. Worst thing ever is… I see there promotion now everywhere I go. I HATE THIS!!! You can almost SURELY expect the same if you deal with them. Even the motor is worth $ 1,000. Even their insurance offered me $ 400. Rusty offered $ 250!!! Horrible… I hope they rot on their filthy lucre!

I love Rusty’s auto shop. They are trustworthy and honest people. I go to the dealership once in a while only because it’s so close to my workplace, but I regret going every time. The dealers hike up prices tremendously and they add in repairs or services that are unnecessary — they are so shady.
Rusty’s Auto is honest and will tell me if a repair is really necessary. It’s just a different and positive vibe when you walk into rusty’s — a mom and pop shop with good quality service.
I wish they had another auto shop in the Irvine area. :) however, it is worth the drive from irvine to Norwalk to get my car serviced here! Good businesses like Rusty’s Auto are golden!

My mother went to Rusty’s for years and since her health declined she couldn’t drive any longer so he lost her as a customer. Then one day my left tail light was out. I didn’t want to be pulled over by the po po so I decided to go to Rusty’s since my mom was a faithful customer. I asked him how much and how long would it take to fix my tail light, he said $ 13 and how about now!!! I told him, it’s a deal so he did it and I was on my way… driving reckless and illegal as always.
I am now his new loyal customer.
BTW he also found a buyer for her Lexus she was forced to sell at the price she was asking. Rusty Rocks!!!

Rusty was the past president of the Automotive Service Counsel Chapter 1. So do you think he knows the business? I think so.
He has a way of communicating with his customers who don’t know anything about cars. After many years of going to Okimoto’s, I was lost when he left and I actually freaked out because I didn’t know where to go. Thanks to the internet and a little detective work, I was able to locate him and his new shop.
Rusty has built himself a reputation that he’s an honest mechanic and it shows because when he started his own business, he was immediately added to the AAA referred list and most of his loyal customers from Okimoto’s followed him. I agree with Rachel Q., Rusty never tries to get me to do anything that is unnecessary.
When I’ve been in a pinch before, Rusty’s had saved me and even had one of his guys drop me off at work while my car was being fixed.
With the economy in the state that it is, I’m glad that I have a trusted mechanic.
Rusty’s also offers to assist you in selling your car. If you have a car that you really don’t want anymore he can help you get it up to selling speed. Just ask him how.
The only minus is the lot where his shop is doesn’t have a gate around it so your cars can’t be locked in for an overnight stay. Other than that, there are plenty of parking spaces near the shop.
I usually try to keep track of my daily car maintenance especially now that Unilocal has gotten me to go to LA more often, but Rusty’s is good about sending reminder cards when your next service is due.
