The Waypointe

I’ve lived here almost a year, and have enjoyed my experience. My apartment is very pretty, the amenities are great, management has always gotten back with me ASAP, I feel safe and my complaints are minimal. I’m very picky and very particular about things, so I feel that if this place were so terrible, as some previous reviews have stated, I would be the first to say so.
Cons:
1. Fire alarm: Totally annoying and does happen too often
2. Smoking: This is a problem. It’s not a horrible problem, but definitely unacceptable. I smell weed much more often than I do cigarettes.
3. Pool: Too small for the number of people living in this building… I’m not sure that everyone using the pool lives here. Seems like residents are bringing lots of guests. I would love to be able to use the pool, but in the year I’ve lived here, I haven’t been able to even once.
4. Trash room: This has gotten better, but there are too many lazy people living in this building that just throw their trash in the trash room, rather than putting it down the chute in the very same room. Gross. It stinks so badly, and is a health code violation. This has been one of my biggest complaints with living here.
5. If you order food, or have someone come over, you have to go down and get them. If there is a concierge, they should be allowing them to come up to your apartment after receiving approval from the resident. This is not a new concept.
6. There are an unbelievable number of low income families/​individuals living here. While everyone deserves a roof over their head, not everyone deserves to live in a «luxury building» at a huge discount, while the rest of us pay full price. I believe in earning what you have. Many of the problems I have personally seen regarding loud/​rude people, smoking, and not taking pride in one’s own community, have unfortunately, come from these individuals. I think Waypointe needs to pay attention to this, and take this seriously… if they want to have a community reputation of a nice safe place to live.

My sincere and honest suggestion is to RUN!!! I have been living here for a year now and I am celebrating the end of my lease like I never had before. These apartments are way over prized for what they offer.
Lets start with the feeling of being tapped danced on on a daily basis given that the construction is poor and the ceilings are thing so every little step from the people upstairs feels like there is an earthquake going on (and the people upstairs are thin BTW).
Also let me mention that you wont need an alarm to wake up in the morning given that the fire alarm goes of on a pretty regular basis and for almost 20 minutes so you will be ok to make to work on time, not sure how rested though. (DONT LET THE OFFICE LIE TO YOU ABOUT THIS, THIS EVEN HAPPENED THIS MORNING 4-​13-​2016).
The gym and pool are tiny and are always overcrowded to the point that I had to sign up for a real gym. There are 3 buildings with a number of thousands of apartment in total for these facilities.
After all this they do feel like they can increase the rent. Im so glad im leaving… I hope you take my advice.

**Update: I wrote this review after the manager waived the late fee and then asked me to write a review. The next week, I let them know my dog would be moving out an had only been there 2 months and was asking if I could pay part of the $ 500 pet fee instead of the full. I knew the answer would probably be no but figured I’d ask. I didn’t hear back and a week later emailed again. Still nothing. Find it slightly annoying that you get great service when they want a great review in return but get ignored after. Love my apartment but the experience isn’t always the best. **
My experience with the Waypointe has been great so far. Had a couple ups and downs and the staff has been considerate throughout.
I’ve lived her for a year now, and around October they changed the payment system so that you have to pay a certain amount of your rent — I have 3 roommates and we all pay separately. At first we had trouble with this system because say you had 4,000 on your account, 1 person couldn’t just pay the amount that we owed and so the first month we incurred a late fee while trying to figure it out — the leasing office waived it and helped us out. We haven’t had an issue since, but had a new roommate move in 2 months ago who couldn’t figure out why he couldn’t pay just his rent and we incurred another late fee. I explained the situation to the manager, Corey, and he waived the fee again. The customer service has been great and the staff has been understanding and considerate.

Been here almost 2 years now. The place has gone to hades. They can’t keep a GM to save their lives. The interim manager sits in his office and doesn’t do jack all day. Door closed.
The grounds are a mess. Filthy doesn’t even begin to describe it. There is pigeon crap everywhere. Which is a health hazard by the way. Hasn’t anyone ever heard of a high pressure water washer?
Cigarette butts everywhere, people smoking in hallways, in apartments, in the parking garage, you name it. Its a smoke-​free building. Belpointe, the owners, have refused to answer any of my questions about no smoking signs. Let’s put it this way Belpointe doesn’t do much at all here. People visiting the restaurants below smoke in the garage, smoke under our apt windows. Employees of the restaurants smoke below apt windows. It sucks. It really, really sucks. Especially when I’m a cancer survivor. I went to lunch at Sedona the other day and there were cigarette butts all around their front door. It was so disgusting.
Greystar, the property management group has gone down hill as well. Its so bad that they can’t even keep people staffed here. They’ve gone thru three teams of leasing agents since we moved in.
Fire Dept warned them last month that door mats are illegal and pose a hazardous risk to tenants. Yet they do nothing about those tenants who have them. Nothing. My mother in law who is disabled tripped over someone’s matt the other day. Greystar could give a rats arse.
Its been almost 2yrs now and we still can’t buzz a friend or delivery person into the building. Its like bizzaro world living here. If my wife’s mom was able to take care of herself we’d be out of here in a heartbeat. I don’t wish this place on my worst enemy.
Right now the only thing being done around here is making sure they convince potential renters that this is the place for them.
Management needs to pull their heads out of the sand and get it together. Them and the owners have no idea what luxury means. This isn’t luxury people, not by a long shot.

Almost a year later at The Waypointe and things have improved. If you’re looking for a nice, convenient place to live you should check it out.

I have not yet moved into Waypointe, but I have had an amazing experience with the leasing office in finding my new place I would like to thank Karly, Corey, and Cassandra with all your help in finding the perfect apartment for me :) I know it was getting quite annoying after about the 10^th one.
I will certainly be posting an updated review once I finally move in next Saturday!

Here’s the thing, since I wrote my very angry review a few months ago at 3.30am (when the fire alarms were going off *again*), not a single fire alarm has gone off. I have finally gotten a good night’s sleep. Also, the Waypointe management hired overnight security to protect the parking garage – so far as I can tell, no more thefts. That is a good thing. Chris, the property manager, is sincerely interested in helping residents, and overall he has been very cordial and very responsive. Also, the concierge is one of the best perks of the building. All in all, this isn’t a bad place to live. Especially since they finally stopped with all the fire alarms all the time.

I have been living at Waypointe for about a month and I absolutely love it so far! I was nervous about moving here after reading all of these crummy reviews about noise and fire alarms but there has yet to be any fire alarms to go off during my time here, and the noise is not bad at all! The leasing office responds to emails ASAP– and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy.
I am living in the North Building, so the only down side is that the garage is not yet finished, so parking across the street and using the garbage there can be a pain. However, the garage will be finished within the next few weeks.
This is a gorgeous apartment complex in an up and coming neighborhood. Sedona and Colony are right across the street with more to come.
All in all, I am very pleased with Waypointe!

NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!
It is a defect of construction!
I could not sleep last night because of noisenss from upstairs. I work 6 days a week, so Sunday is the only day I wake up late. I woke up 6am today (Sunday) from noiseness. People upstairs were dragging chairs, walking hard (strong) with their feet, dropping ball? (i guess it is a ball shape with a hard material because it bounced up and down several times). I don’t know what upstairs people doing, but they never stop walking and doing something every night from 10pm to 1am, and even at 6am on Sunday morning. I am so tired of this noiseness and so much stressed. It negatively affects to my mental health.

NOISE! If noise is for you, this is the place.
I don’t think I’ve gone a single week (been here ~3months) without at least one false fire alarm. They often have tests, and additionally it seems any sort of cooking sets the alarm off. I work nights so the weekly tests never fail wake me up. I’m worried that I’ll stop caring that the fire alarm goes off, a real fire happens then I’ll die. Hahaha I’ll take my chances at this point.
Not really their fault, but there’s tons of construction around so working nights means I get the ol’ jackhammer lullaby.

If you like having the wheels stolen off your car, being woken up at 4am AT LEAST twice a month from faulty fire alarm systems, having all your emails simply asking for help ignored, and an extremely dangerous parking garage where you can really live on the edge and hit other people’s cars without the worry of a functioning security camera, the waypointe is surely the place for you. For the rest of us, this place sucks. This place makes simply existing and exhausting venture. Ugh.

all I can say is STAY AWAY from this place, they are a ripoff like the other person said do your homework before signing anything with these people! they will keep your money even if you don’t sign a lease, very unprofessional manager. He made a mistake by saying that the apartment had been vacant for over a month and he lost revenue which was not true when I corrected him on it he said oh my mistake and wanted to end the conversation very quickly. that’s ok he can keep the money he probably needs it to go back to school and educate himself a little more! WAYYYY overpriced for what you get and don’t let the looks of the model fool you they will not show you the actual apartment until after you sign the lease. I’m sure the manager will be reading so hello to you sir and yes I did write a comment about your shitty response! I would put a zero star but it wont let me…

I have been living at this complex for almost a year. Can’t deny that the apartments are beautiful and the location is great. Some things to take into account:
NOISE. This building still under construction and there is a lot of noise that starts from 6am. Trucks, workers, drillers, etc. Alarm testing is done often. They had to cut off the power for a week in order to put electricity in some of the commercial locals downstairs, so they left this huge power generator ON all night long. FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. That thing is loud as hell and I barely was able to get any sleep.
If you leave all day for work, the noise may won’t be a problem but if you stay home in a big proportion of the day like I do (I work from home) this is a huge issue.
SAFETY: If you have an expensive car with fancy tires BE AWARE. There have been 3 opportunities where cars have been left hanging on cement blocks after stealing their tires. 3 TIMES. I haven’t seen any major precautions taken about this issue.
AMENITIES: they are supper nice and welcoming. Only thing I will add to this is the fact that they are shared between the main building and the new one across on Mwerwin St. Pool is extremely small for the amount of people that live here. They regulate the number of people that can be in the pool and limit the number of guests to two. The «Dog Park» is A JOKE
PRICE: overpriced PERIOD. Is probably the most expensive place around.
OVERALL: the building has potential. Don’t move here yet. Wait until is FULLY FINISHED. I notice the staff is often changed. I am sure all those poor employees quit their jobs tiring of these many complains.

After my last review, Chris Crampton, the manager there, got personally involved in this matter. He followed up regularly, gave updates without me asking and got his accounting team to void a previously dispatched check (which I never received) and issued me a new one. I got it less than an hour ago, 6.5 weeks after I canceled the lease application.
I can’t speak too much of the place, as I never stayed there. And I wish Chris had taken care of this sooner, rather than wait for my initial review. I also wish that any of his colleagues had taken the time to follow up with me, instead of ‘taking a message’ that was never received and/​or followed up on.
I consider this matter now closed, but I wouldn’t wish to stay here afterwards.
That being said, I’ve changed my rating to Three Stars for Chris’ hand in finally closing this.

We’re living the Waypointe at the end of the month as we’re moving to NYC. We’ve been here for almost 18 months and have been happy customers. When we originally signed the lease most of the apartment complex was a construction yard but it has come a long way. Although there are definitely some annoyances that come with being in an under-​construction apartment the management staff (Special thanks to Cory the leasing manager) have been phenomenal throughout the process and have communicated effectively with our concerns. I would definitely sign another lease if we were staying in Connecticut.

I would argue that those documenting issues with noise might be better served posting their musings on the following thought: «If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?» But I digress.
I’m a new resident, but have lived in similar apartments, at previous times in my life. To put it simply, do your research! In **any** dwelling with this type of set-​up (and number of residents), you will hear the occasional presence of neighbors, their dogs, and/​or their music – which is to say that, indeed, you **might** hear your next door neighbor’s muffled sounds of Sarah McLachlan being drowned out by your blender, while making a protein shake.
As for the cacophony of construction – again – do your research! It’s made clear in the lease agreement that there is construction, yet it also is made clear that work is completed during specific daytime hours. Regarding the more negative Unilocal posts, my experience is this: noise is **not a factor** for this type of residence – and the construction is made clear up-​front. Complaints along these lines ooze a «haters» mentality or simple «sour grapes». Wake up! This is apartment living!
The property management staff is second-​to-​none. From Karly – whose knowledgable tour sold me on committing to a lease – to the tour de force leadership of Cory, the administration at The Waypointe is both professional and personal. On more than one occasion, in fact, Cory has gone beyond what I perceive to be the description of his job to make sure my move progressed smoothly.
As far as amenities, it has been my experience that the fitness areas, pool, and other common rooms are immaculately maintained on a regular basis – and hardly an afterthought. As an avid fitness enthusiast, I maintain that The Waypointe’s fitness areas are on par with many commercially run, independent facilities.
In closing, The Waypointe is safe, professionally run and maintained, would make a wonderful home for an array of diverse people, from a variety of backgrounds, and holds an atmosphere of pride that begins from the moment one enters the building. Dave and Steven are not only excellent at their jobs, but go to great lengths to serve their tenants. Again, this has been my experience. Lastly, the kind personality of Melissa – along with her patience, knowledge, and willingness to truly **help** – makes it hard for me to write a bad word about The Waypointe. In fact, without hyperbole, I’ve never heard my neighbors once over the last three weeks – let alone noise akin to a Motley Crüe «after-​party» circa 1986.
The Waypointe is a wonderful living option – one that **this** working professional would recommend, without reservation, to anyone.

I’m literally over the moon about this place. We are a family from the west coast with two kids and didn’t plan to go back to apartment living. But we found ourselves needing a home fast and moved in one month ago. Two dogs, two kids, and nothing but love from everyone! I honestly cannot believe how luxurious and convenient apartment living is here. This place is so impressive. The kindness and classiness is so refreshing. Life feels so easy here! I’m completing a phd and have found that there are plenty of options for me to get away and study, and the pool, grills, and theater rooms are a blast for my kids. I highly recommend this place! It’s a wonderful home.

Tagged along with my father to check out an apartment he wanted to look at. The leasing agent Cory was really helpful and friendly. The place is really nice. I don’t know what the bad reviews are about. From the moment I walked in I felt like I’d walked into a hotel. Everything is new, clean, and up to date. The pool and other amenities are beautiful. I really hope my father decides to get a place here.

Oh I can’t with these other reviews.
While some of them have validity, I want to clarify some things.
First off – to the construction. BEFORE you sign your lease, you sign paperwork stating that you are aware you live in a construction zone and that you accept this liability. The construction is from 7−4÷430 during the week and 8−¾ on the weekends. This is well within Norwalk’s noise limits. That’s public knowledge. People need to do their research, before signing legal paperwork and agreeing to move into a construction zone. Review the construction company… not your negligence to understand what you are getting into with moving here. Use google… there are NUMEROUS descriptions of living in apartment buildings that are under construction.
The fire alarms – yes, they test them A LOT. Most of the time, however, we get email notices at least a day before stating it is going to happen. There have been a few times where we have not gotten notices – and while yes, that was completely inconvenient (especially since I was working at home) and I too complained. However… the leasing company sent out notice immediately and it has not happened «on the fly» since. Honestly, I would rather the alarms be tested a lot now, while the building is being built… if there is a fire or emergency, I’m confident they work!
Personally, I haven’t had problems with the quality of my apartment. I DO have extremely rude upstairs neighbors (I’ve met them, they have absolutely no class – and I don’t say that lightly) – who have a toddler that is constantly running and dropping things. To the point where my furniture shakes. That’s just rude parenting… have some respect. While I expect to hear SOME things from upstairs neighbors living in an apartment… I don’t expect to hear the levels that I do. But… that’s rude people for you.
Otherwise, all has been good. The concierges are great, management gets to know ithe residents, the gym is kept up really well. They have parties for residents every few months.

If you value you your sleep, do not move in here. The walls are paper thin and my neighbors blare their TV until 2am, then their baby wakes up screaming, then when you think there is silence the walls begin to rumble with snoring. It sounds made up but I assure you I would not be up at 5:45am writing this post if it wasn’t happening. In about 30 minutes construction will start outside my window so I will go to work as a Zombie this morning. The weekday construction we were warned about and have no problem with but no one mentioned the Saturday construction so without fail every Saturday morning I’m up by 7:45, and I am NOT a morning person.
The biggest problem with this building is there are 2 very different companies in charge. The leasing group and the builders are separate companies. We have had a nice experience with the leasing company but the builders are sloppy and pay zero attention to detail. On the surface the apartments look beautiful but there are so many unfinished or poorly finished products. Our floors aren’t cut right and there is about a half in gap between the floor and baseboard, only the walls in the kitchen have gloss paint and all the other walls are matte. This means whenever someone rubs up against a wall or is standing at our kitchen island the color of their paints becomes our new wall color. The granite on the island isn’t cut properly and there is a sharp edge on the island and best of all my roommate had the f-​word etched into one of the drawers in her bathroom vanity (I remind you we are the first tenants of the apartment). When we put in a work order to have her drawer replaced, maintenance took a black sharpie and tried to color over it! It was ridiculous. The builders use the parking garage as storage and do not cover any of the items up so there are multiple vanities waiting to be installed just sitting in the parking garage that leaks and clearly is vandalized. Real nice care given to the items going into these ‘luxury’ apartments. I could continue…
The price tag absolutely matches luxury but nothing else about this building does.
We just signed our lease in December and I am already counting down the days until I can move out. Movers beware, don’t be tempted by the shiny appliances and «luxury» accommodations.
