Total Wine & More

I used to rant and rave about Total Wine. If I was in a group of people and they asked which is the best liquor store to go to, I’d suggest Total Wine. Until today. I left my job to go there for an interview, and they not only made me wait a long time, but then told me they would not give me said interview because of what I was wearing. Absolutely ridiculous and they just lost not only my patronage but I will be sure to tell others of how insane my experience there was today. Yeah, they have good prices, but I won’t ever set foot back in there ever again. Thumbs down Total Wine.

Great selection of almost everything. Prices are average. Parking is very good. If you don’t know what you want, chances are you’ll find it here!

A great store. I love this chain and it is my go-​to for beer, wine, and liquor. Wonderful selection and great prices. I always find what I want here!!! Perfect location off the Merritt.

Really excellent selection for all price points. The staff is very helpful. More wines than you can try and plenty of other liquor selections the prices are in the sweet spot for the area

While the selection at this store is sufficient for average alcohols, their customer service was absolutely dreadful during my last visit. Their lackluster Walmart-​like service from rude employees to match is not worth the trip down for their marginally lower prices.

Everything I need. Whether it be last minute host gifts, bottles for my BBQ guests, gifts for that someone that is hard to shop for but likes wine ect. My favorite item is Crystal Head Vodka. They have it and I love it.

I am an avid bourbon hunter. Last night I noticed a very special bottle of Bourbon on their website at a fair price. I jumped at the opportunity to purchase and have a friend pick up in store for me. Totally normal for total wines to do this.
I got an email this afternoon saying my order was cancelled with no explanation. Surprised by my sudden change in fortune I decided to give the store a call to see if maybe there was an issue with my CC since the billing address was it of state. A young girl answers the phone and puts me on hold for quite a while, while she attempts to get to the bottom of the issue.
What I’m told is that even though the bottle is online, it can only be sold in store and that she has 2 left. I am perplexed but since they still have the bottles I send my friend to go pick up one nonetheless.
He arrives after a 45 minute drive to be told that even though they still have 2 in inventory they still cannot sell the bourbon to him because they are special orders and «long gone». I’m sorry but this is not right. This store and specifically its manager is girding bottles for their VIP clientele and would not sell to me online or my friend in store.
Long story short, this place wasted mine and my friends time while acting like the shady liquor store down the street who marks up their bottles and requires patrons to pay in cash with no receipts.
Unfortunately I’ve been on hold with total wine’s customer service for the duration of the time that I have been writing this and still nobody has picked up.

This place rules. It’s like the Home Depot for alcohol, no lie! Great prices, free samples though I usually pass as i go there in the daytime, pretty much any beer imaginable, and same goes for wine and liquor. I just wish they’d get some Bells beer, specifically Oberon when it is in season. Highly recommend, stock up here!

Like: the selection is large and better than at most stores though some prices have gone up but their prices are still much better than elsewhere.
Dislike: customer service. Earlier on they had a fantastic manager Michelle, she would have someone take your order out, expedite you when you came in with kids, so so helpful. Now its a hot mess with people having up on you, misplace some orders and are uncertain about their selection. When I complained a female cashier was loudly snickering and rolling her eyes. Nice. However, when I went to the manager, they were sincerely sorry, told me they are working on their customer service etc and asked me to contact him should there ever be problems but assured me there wouldnt be.

Lighting is too bright. Never enough open registers. If not for the low prices, I’d have given it one star.

Great selection of any kind of liquor and beer you might want. Huge place. They have wine tastings some times.

If and when you come to this place make sure that every single one in your group, including the pets, have IDs. This place has the most idiotic policy of all time: everyone who’s with you, including the person paying, MUST have their IDs. I have encountered this policy before but at the very least the other store gave us the option of having the person without the ID step out while the other one paid.

They have an awesome collection of craft brews try a lights out stout or a neighbor of the beast by New England also anything by Smuttynose brewing and then pick up a bottle of Bulliet Bourbon for an old fashioned. This is the Home Depot of liquor stores I go skipping through the aisles. The best selection in town.

Total Wine is pure magic. Tastings at every turn, magnificent prices (especially for a ffld county liquor store), helpful staff, and a supremely decent craft beer selection. I even found my favorite cider, the Dupont Cidre Reserve, which has been tougher to find lately.
I appreciate that Total Wine offers premium liquors in mid-​sized bottles falling somewhere between nips and the usual 250ml. I’ve been able to bulk up my home bar a bit and play with some new libations in my mixology efforts without committing to a larger, more expensive bottle. Every time I’m in my hometown I make time to stop here and will continue to do so!

Like shopping for alcohol in a Best Buy

I‘m really scratching my head at the 4 ½ star average rating for Total Wine.
For those who are not aware, keep in mind this is a large chain store. With that being noted, their flaws are not entirely surprising. Lets go over some of these flaws:
–Staff members who are uneducated on wines, spirits, and especially uneducated on beer at this location
–They conduct tastings that focus on brands they have alliances with, spirits and wine made especially for them or simply X brand that puts out large volume production
–Since opening, they have increased their prices on many items, some by percentages of 20−35%, now that at least one of their competitors has been forced to close
–Rude staff members in the bottle return and cash register area most notably
OK, with that out of the way, I‘ll give them a couple positives for the 2 stars
–Overall, prices are still better than most other stores in the area
–A wide selection of wines and spirits is available here, including things like Calvados that can be difficult to find at some other stores.

Insane selection, great layout and impressive staff to help as needed. High end spirits and wine available as well as box bulk do a bit of everything for everyone.

Officially obsessed. Total Wine = Amaze.
HUGE wine selection. They carry Peachy Canyon– one of my favorites that I have only ever seen one other time on the East Coast. Wines are priced much below Costco, which I always thought was the most reasonable pricing around. They also have a ton of beer and alcohol. but the wine was so great I could only get through half of the store before having to make a quick exit to save my wallet a bit.
Total Wine may make me officially a wine-​o.

They have a huuuuge whisky selection… crap, they have huge everything. This might be the biggest liquor store I’ve ever been in, tied with West Springfiled MA’s Table and Vine if not.
The high end scotch selection left a little to be desired. Their regular scotch selection seems a little bigger as it’s padded with a few hundred bottles of Grangestone and Sheildaig (two seemingly generic scotch labels I’ve never heard of) but the sheer volume of whisky is a spectacle to behold.
There are so many wines and beers it’s difficult to navigate where you want to be. Ask for directions. The wines, especially, can jump around a bit.
