Along with being a historic inn, Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse features a rotating selection of house brewed beer. Come sit on our patio near our house grown hops and enjoy a cask ale or another of our six selections.
Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse and Dining Room is located in the Historic Norwich Inn. It features one restaurant menu, whether or not your preferred dining venue is the Pub, Outdoor Patio, Dining Room or Terrace. The menu is extensive, diverse and moderately priced, offering Pub favorites while adding more substantial entrees. A number of items include ingredients from Jasper Murdock Ales made on site. Our restaurant and brewery offer seating on a «first come, first served» basis in the Pub/Patio while reservations are available in the Dining Room and Terrace areas.
Private, group dining is available for parties of 4 to 100.
History
Established in 1797.
The Norwich Inn is a historic, full-service Vermont country inn located in Norwich, near Dartmouth College, just across the river from Hanover, New Hampshire. An Inn has been on the Main Street site since 1797; the current Victorian Structure since 1890. This Dartmouth hotel is proud to offer 38 guest rooms, a Pub & Dining Room known as Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse and a Microbrewery featuring hand-crafted English Ales, sold only on site. We are proud to offer one of the largest wine selections in Vermont, housed in our new Wine Cellar, which is also available for private parties. Local legend has it that the Inn and the Town were the inspiration behind the popular TV Show, «Newhart,» which was set in Norwich.

Joe and Jill L.
Business Owner
Joe and Jill Lavin bought the Inn in 2006. They discovered it as customers of the Norwich Inn and Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse while visiting their son, Tyler, a 2005 graduate of Dartmouth College. They fell in love with the Upper Valley and wanted to become a permanent part of its culture and environment. Joe is a graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration and long time Hospitality Industry executive with such companies as Marriott, Westin and Choice Hotels.
