History
Established in 2004.
James Merritt and Steven Sexton met while working on a government contract. While providing onsite IT support for the organization’s annual conference in Albuquerque, NM they hatched the plans to start their own business providing IT support for small to medium sized businesses. In 2004 Baltimore Technology Group was created (BTG). They worked in the evenings and spent countless hours on Steve’s deck building the foundation for BTG before finally taking the leap and going full-time in 2009 and hiring their first employee in 2010. Jim and Steve continue to learn and grow, meeting with other successful IT companies throughout the USA to bring those proven best practices to their clients.

Steven S.
Business Owner
Steven grew up in Rosedale and attended Calvert Hall College HS. He received his BS in Business Information Systems from Villa Julie College (Stevenson University) and his MBA from the University of Baltimore. Steve started his career in the private sector before moving into government contracting where he worked for over 14 years. While working within the government Steve held multiple positions ranging from Network Technician to Deputy Site Manager of a $ 10M contract consisting of over 60 personnel.
In 2010 Steve left the government contracting world to join his business partner building Baltimore Technology Group, LLC. Steve enjoys meeting with other business owners to discuss how improving their IT infrastructure can help their business become more efficient and grow with them as they grow. He reviews their current IT spending, or lack thereof, and shows how that lack of investment is ultimately costing them money and ultimately their time. Steve has both his MCSE and PMP.
