History

Established in 2006.

A business at Perry Hall Marketplace the proprietors,

Remo De Bartolo and Mary Kay McAllister. Swan Song Spirits opened in November 2006 at the shopping center, in the 9600 block of Belair Road.

The shop name comes from the record company that recorded Led Zeppelin, a favorite of De Bartolo’s late nephew, Erik Varacalle. The label’s symbol of Icarus (the mythological figure who flew too close to the sun) appears in the store, along with the nephew’s initials.

De Bartolo is the son of an Italian immigrant who settled in Carney in 1955. He is a graduate of Loch Raven Academy and Towson University and is now active in Parkville’s St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.

McAllister, a native of Harford County, graduated from North Harford High School.
