History

Established in 2011.

I have an unwavering passion for integrating health and human connection into my life and so I made it the business of what I do everyday. I have found that when my body is in optimum condition, my mind and emotions are clear and in line with my values, and when I am giving of myself, that I am at my best. This is why Wholeself Health is a part of me and why I strive everyday to have it be a part of others. WSH has evolved from mobile massage to corporate chair massage, into non-​profit event massage and healthy catering, and is now partnered with personal coaches and fitness trainers. We also do massage therapy out of San Rafael with an amazing small business & entrepreneurship community. Soon, we will be integrating somatic psychology and non-​profit/​social service volunteering opportunities in exchange for reduced price or free goods and services with us!

I have studied business, psychology, health sciences, philosophy, anthropology, and somatics; I’ve traveled the country and internationally; I am fortunate to have a huge, amazing family and fantastic friends; I used to be a smoker and have dealt with sciatica, rotator cuff injuries, kyphosis, scoliosis, and pes cavus (really unstable, high foot arches). What does all this have to do with each other? I have learned that when all is said and done, health and human connection are the most important things.

I’ve been receiving bodywork from Tobi for a couple years now. I’m an engineer by profession and a scientist by education, and have been hugely impressed with Tobi’s encyclopedic knowledge of applied human anatomy. I can ask her any question about the layout of my tendons, bones, nerves, and muscles, and how they interact, and I get a knowledgeable, useful answer every time!
I have also done some work on her email administration, and she’s shared her business plans with me from time to time. I am always impressed by the spirit of altruism and desire to heal others that drives her — improving the lives of others is an obviously strong motivator in her business pursuits. As an example, she has volunteered her time at women’s shelters and with the homeless, providing bodywork and wellness services.
Basically, Tobi and her business are the bomb, by any metric you’d care to name :0)

Tobi is amazing! She is not only an incredibly talented massage therapist, but she’s also a genuine and awesome person.
Tobi comes to my office once a month and does such good work on areas that are especially hurting –really working out and tending to my back and shoulders. She always takes care to check in about how I’m doing and remembers where my most sensitive areas are. I highly recommend Tobi — plus she will come to your house and do a private massage!

I am not a perfect example of doing everything I can to be in the best condition at all times. I do however find massage a big benefit when the aches, stiffness, and hitches become uncomfortable and distracting. I have enjoyed massage from Thailand to Jamaica, from fancy Sonoma and Marin spa’s, and even the strip mall chain. Tobi is really great, intuitive, strong, the best. I feel lucky to have her tune me up. Please do not overbook her as i would still like the opportunity to feel as good as I do after her therapy.

We work hard, we deserve a break. Tobi is the person to see, after a long week of work, if you need to unwind. Her massages are calming, the atmosphere is relaxing, and she is professional, inexpensive, and intuitive. Tobi will come to you, if the need be, which is helpful if you’re in new of a mid-​week massage and are busy. Truly, after a massage with her, I feel like a new person; the entire experience is peaceful. Wholeself Health is the only place in the bay that I will go to for massages!

I owe my body an apology. Despite being battered, bruised and dented, I rarely change the oil or inflate the tires. Instead, that nagging shoulder and those snaps, crackles and pops in the neck have become part of the landscape. They’re there. No spandexed yoga class to adjust the ouch or pilates technique to tune that hurt. It’s my fault. I take full responsibility.
But, despite the neglect, after a single session with Tobi, my body thanked me. (Hallmark cards, presents and balloons of gratitude).
I’ve had massages before and they felt good… But, I honestly didn’t experience the benefits beyond an hour or two. With Tobi, it was different. She worked on that shoulder until the rust came off. She worked on the neck until it stopped sounding like Rick Krispies. After the work, I could lift my arm THIS high without wincing and I was a mere 4 inches from touching my toes.

As a former massage therapist and colleague of Tobi’s I have delighted in the opportunity to get to know her as well as experience her massage. She has an amazing gift of understanding what the body needs and providing an inviting and soothing atmosphere for her clients. I have worked with her in my home and in her office, and both were equally wonderful. The space she holds for her clients during the massage is truly sacred and thoroughly nourishing — I have four lucky friends who will be receiving her gift certificates; 2 for a wedding gift and 2 for Christmas!
