History

Established in 1978.

Dr. Barry J. Litwin is a 1974 graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry where he received a degree as Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). Upon graduation, Dr. Litwin attended a one year general residency internship at Baltimore City Hospital and two years of advanced periodontal training at Albert Einstein and the Manhattan VA Hospitals. He continued his training in many specialty fields of dentistry and was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 1985.

Dr. Litwin is a member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Essex County Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He opened his office in Nutley in 1978 and provides treatment in the areas of general and cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, periodontal treatment, crowns and bridges, implants, surgery, and dentures. We are proud to announce that 2013 represents our 35th year of dental service to the Nutley community. In 2012 Dr. Litwin was appointed to the staff of Mountainside Hospital assisting in the training of the dental interns. In 2013, Dr. Litwin was honored with a Life Membership Award to the American Dental Association.

Dr. Litwin and his wife, Marcia have two daughters, Sara and Jessica, and two granddaughters, Abigail and Ayla Rae. They enjoy skiing, golf, traveling, motorcycling, and vacationing together.

I would never return to this dentist! Rushed me out didn’t take time to listen to my concerns and discomfort. Went to another doctor in this field who commented what terrible work was done.

Dr. Litwin is unbelievable. He is personable, pain free, knowledgable and above all, he did it right the first time.
His staff is great. I actually fell in love with Robin but that’s another story.
After about 8 visits, my teeth are as good as ever and everything is corrected. I actually told him I’d chip a tooth just to be able to come back.
Have you ever seen Derek Jeter play? How fluid he moves and how he makes everything look easy and effortless? That’s Dr. Litwin. All professionals share that effortless fluidity trait.
You won’t be disappointed.

Dr. Litwin is an amazing dentist. His office is located in Nutley where I used to live. I have had negative experiences with dentists in the past & therefore have avoided going to any dentist for at least 5 years even for a routine cleaning. I had broken a tooth and was obviously in need of dental work. I was terrified of having to go to the dentist. My husband researched dentists in the Nutley area & read many positive reviews regarding Dr. Litwin, so I went although still nervous. Dr. Litwin and his staff were so accommodating. They made me feel at ease. Dr. Litwin walked me through every part of the procedure and utilized tools and technology that no dentist had ever used with me before. He even fixed other areas of my teeth that previous dentists had told me that there was nothing they could do to fix them. Needless to say that after moving two hours away, I still travel to his office for any dental work needed. I just had a root canal done yesterday and he made the time to the complete the work for me so that I wouldn’t have to travel multiple times in order to finish the work. He then called me later that evening to see how I was feeling, and I received a text from the office the following morning asking how I was doing, which is something I have never experienced from any doctor in the past. His staff is so caring & empathetic. I can honestly say that he does the best dental work and will put any terrified patient like I used to be at ease. I cannot thank Dr. Litwin, Sue & Robin enough for helping me!

Dr Litwin and his staff have always maintained a professional and personable atmosphere while delivering superior dental services for me since 2000. I have been to at least 5 dentists in the last 50 years and none has come close to providing better fitting, confidently secure, comfortable crowns and bridges than Dr. Litwin. I have a lot of experience having only 5 unmolested teeth in my mouth that aren’t crowns or bridges ! He has cleaned up years of prior inferior dental procedures by less competent dentists.
Beware — - There is a drawback !
Because he made my mouth pain free and I now have full confidence my crowns and bridges are not going to come loose or break, I have resumed eating everything again and have gained some unwanted extra weight.
Even though I retired and moved to the Jersey Shore I still travel almost 90 miles to Dr. Litwin’s for my dental visits.

Dr. Litwin is a top notch dentist. I have been going to him for over 11 years now and I can say that he is like family to me. He really cares about his work and his patients. If I were ever to move from Jersey to live in another state and would have to find another dentist, that doctor would have large shoes to fill because of the standard that Dr. Litwin has set for all the dentists.
