You come for the food but you stay for the entertainment. The guys that run this restaurant are quite entertaining and make you feel at home when you eat there! Their Jamaican beef patty is so good you can’t even tell they it is meatless!

Stopped in here on the way back home from a hike. Couldn’t have been happier with this delicious, hearty food! The space was clean and the staff was very friendly. Only con is that it’s an hour away from me. I’ll be back though!

Wonderful, diverse, vegan selection anchored on Caribbean style food. Veggie patties, mock meats, and all kinds of veggies and spices.
Also — the staff are super friendly and happy to patiently explain everything on the menu. Great stuff! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would eat there again.

This is probably the best vegetarian food I have ever had. Home cooked, and so fresh! Would eat here every day if I could.

Every time I visit Nyack, I take a short Jamaican staycation to Main Essentials. The owner has the most positive vibes and always makes you feel at home… or as if you are on a little Caribbean retreat!
Trust me, treat yourself to a fresh pressed juice, yummy sweet plantains and either a hot dish… or if you’re missing Chick-​fil-​a, go for their Chick-​un sandwich. I’m a meat eater, judge-​me-​not, and I LOVE this place! Go and experience it yourself!

Food is fresh and tasty, the place is clean and the owner is very gracious. The 10 dollar lunch is a great bargain. I just wish there was a tad bit more variety. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a healthy and tasty meal. I will definitely make this one of my go to spots in Nyack.

I love coming here. The food is always delicious. Not only that but Reality is genuine. Always have a wonderful conversation with him and walk out feeling more positive. Great vegan food and like minded people who want to share goodness with the world.

I stop in Main Essentials almost daily for a smoothie or fresh juice. Everything is fresh and delicious.
The crew is very friendly and the restaurant is always clean.
Try the All Green or Tropical Colada or a shot of wheatgrass.

LET ME TELL YOU HOW WONDERFUL THIS PLACE IS… The owner and staff are the nicest, most helpful people i’ve met in Nyack (i’ve lived here for years). a pure pleasure just to communicate with these outstanding folks. they take their time informing you on what is what and how spicy each dish is. i say jump in… their juice bar is terrific too. highly recommend going their for their $ 10 lunch special.
Their vegan «ribs» and curried «chicken» do not taste vegan… i’m more of a meat eater and i come here once a month just to get my fix…

It’s hard to serve vegan food without coming across elitist, but these guys do it better than I’ve ever seen. The food and juice are delicious and the orders are taken by a guy named Reality — what else does a person want!!!

My boyfriend has been dining at Main Essentials for 4 years now and I am happy to say that I have been for almost 2! They have fantastic Caribbean vegetarian food and you get a good amount of food for what you pay.
The staff is so polite and the atmosphere is laid back as well. I highly recommend for all, whether vegan, vegetarian or meat lovers!

The best! Amazing food and great people. Love the juice bar and Reality sharing his knowledge. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

Yummy, Caribbean vegan food.
All the food is presented buffet style so you can see what it looks like and the server was very helpful with any questions.
I had an veggie empanada plus the curry TVP and rice/​peas. Curry was delicious and the other stuff was good too. Also ordered a Supper Veggie shake with celery, beets, carrots, cashews, sunflower seeds, and not sure what else but it was awesome.
Sat at the bar and had a very pleasant & interesting conversation with my server. Nice low key place with healthy, delicious food. Will definitely come back.

Tastiest Latin veggie cuisine you will find in Rockland county. Totally worth stopping in for a dish of sautéed greens, plantains, rice, & beans. Juices are always good too. Staff is always very welcoming.

Love this place! Casual & clean atmosphere. The food is always EXCELLENT and the owner is friendly, knowledgeable and super passionate about healthy ways of living.
They have a great variety of hot dishes from the buffet & also made to order sandwiches, wraps, & a fresh juice bar. The jamaican style vegan «beef» patties are incredible! If you haven’t been here yet, highly recommended & well worth the trip.

So excited to come back here regularly. The food was yummy and the folks there are dope. Had the curry, rice and peas and sweet plantain. They hooked it up with a great green juice.
I think that it would be even better if the food wasn’t presented buffet style. They could have all the food in the back and serve to customers to seem a little more special. Other than that, I will most definitely be back! Wish they had outdoor seating.

Food was amazing and low price. My lunch special came with a delicious juice of two fruits of my choice. The only thing is that portions are small.

Wow, this place is EXCELLENT! What a gem and it is a bit tucked away at the end of the main strip but is not to be missed. The food is very flavorful, the prices are affordable and the service is wonderful. The «beef» patty is to die for, it was so well-​seasoned and totally delicious. Definitely going back here!

Looking for a vegan meal heading north. Awesome meal. Lunch buffet is one main dish, 2 sides and a juice for $ 10. So good, made me want to move next door so I could eat here all the time. The guy calls every his brother and sister.
He told me they’re not open on Sunday, except in the summer, and he gave me a pamphlet about his restaurant, maybe he heard Rachel F’s complaint. I’m sorry she went there and it was closed. I guess you have to call to double check, because just because something is on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true. Often the map is wrong on Unilocal about where the restaurant is. Nothing is perfect, but my meal here the other day was close.
The juice my partner got was yummy. I took an extra side instead of juice because I’d just had a juice. I could see going here for some juice.
Not many table, but nice décor.
Walked down the main strip and wondered why Food reviewer D isn’t fond of the area? Seemed fine to me, better than fine. A great vegan restaurant is the height of culture to me.
