Lobsterville Bar & Grille

Great atmosphere and location on the harbor. We ate upstairs and had a great view. The fish was fresh and flavorful. The staff were a delight. We’d come back.

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Great friendly staff and the freshest seafood on the island. Views are some of the best in Oak Bluffs. Go there and just spend an afternoon drinking and munching on the patio or roof deck. You won’t regret it. Owner Leslie is great, friendly and knows her business.

I was at Lobsterville this past weekend with 7 friends and nearly everyone had a problem with their meal. The quality of the food and service at Lobsterville does not reflect the high prices that they charge.
We originally walked in because the hostess said there were seats on the top level overlooking the water. Not only were no seats available on the upper level, but we ended up at a small table in the back of the bar with no water views.
Our waitress, who was also working as the only bartender, took our drink and appetizer orders. Because she was the only bartender and our waitress, the drinks came to the table 1 or 2 at a time.
When the appetizers came out, one of the stuffed quahogs was missing and we promptly told the staff. After waiting 5 minutes we asked about the quahog again. 5 minutes later still no quahog so we asked one more time.
Eventually the quahog did come out… along with our entrees.
6 out of our 7 entrees were not good.
The 3 cold lobster rolls that were ordered were severely lacking in lobster meat. The rolls were sliced shallow as to give the illusion that meat was overflowing out of the sandwich, but in reality there was no meat in the sandwich at all. The sandwiches were all ordered with truffle fries (which cost extra). 1 came with chips, 2 came with regular fries.
One person in our party ordered a filet mignon with mashed potatoes. The «filet» did not look or taste like any filet I have seen, but more like a petit top sirloin that the restaurant tried to pass off as a filet. Furthermore, the steak was #overcooked. The mashed potatoes did not come out and we had to ask for them.
3 hot lobster rolls were ordered, 2 with truffle fries, 1 with grilled broccolini. 1 hot roll came out with a minimal amount of lobster, lettuce in the roll and broccoli salad. The other seemed to be an appropriate size, but no truffle fries.
At over $ 50 a person, the meal was very disappointing. Not only were the truffle fries not taken off the bill, but the staff didn’t seem to care that they had messed up.
With so many great options on the Vineyard, I’d stay far away from Lobsterville.

Eating a lobster roll on the top deck overlooking the marina at night is something I’ll never forget. Such an ideal location and perfect for all seafood lovers. I’ve been eating lobster rolls since I could walk and would give this one a solid ⁸⁄₁₀.

This was our first lunch as we got on the island at Oak Bluffs on our first day. At lunch the place was nearly empty and quiet, so we had a nice view looking out over the harbor sitting on the balcony. My lobster roll was great– brimming with freshly steamed lobster and just a bit of mayo. We were eager to get to the hotel and start exploring Martha’s Vineyard so we didn’t stay too long or soak in the atmosphere, but this is a solid place.

Beautiful view, great view and service was great. We had the opportunity of meeting the owner, Leslie who was very nice to us and look forward to coming back time we are visiting:)

I gave this place a second chance this summer thinking it might be better with different staff. Last summer I walked out after 20 minutes of watching the staff talk to themselves and completely ignore our table. This time We managed To get a drink, but by the time that came we had decided that we did not want to chance ordering food. Good thing, because the waitress completely disappeared after dropping the drinks for almost 45 minutes. Would have racked up quite a tab if we were ever offered anything else, as a martini will run you $ 12. Bar refused to close our tab or find our waitress. There are so many better places on the Vineyard don’t waste your time or money here.

Stay away. Stay far away. Second year in a row that we have come here. First time walked away after 10 minutes of nobody helping us. Now I am still sitting here waiting for our check. Ordered a drink and she could not get that correct. I ask the bartender where our waitress is and he tells me «i don’t know. Maybe she is in the bathroom». What the hell. Just stay away. Far away.

This place has great food and great service. The upstairs bar is amazing! I would recommend the sangria. I would absolutely come back.

First weekend away from our baby and we unfortunately chose to stop here. This bartender who claims to have businesses in other countries is extremely unprofessional and rude towards my fiancé and myself. To make up for it he actually rips off his Boss by giving the bar away. Stay away from this joke!!!

While we were waiting for our boat to take us back to Cape Cod, we found this delightful bar! Not only were the appetizers scrumptious but our service was beyond superb; hats off to our server Dane who was provided excellent recommendations, good conversation and a delightful way to end our beautiful day on Martha’s Vineyard

The service here was terrible. I waited for 10 minutes before having to seek out my waiter just to get a menu and water. The water took an additional 10 minutes. For him to take the order took even longer. It was not overly busy either. After a long wait, the food was okay, nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the wait. Would not recommend.

Very nice view, waitress was also very nice although the owner was found yelling rudely at a (probably newish) staff member. My burger and fries were fine, reasonably priced for the location. Wife got a salad which was terrible and she didn’t finish. My side of cole slaw was terrible but the waitress kindly took it off the bill. My drink was also pretty good but pricey.
Edit. I looked at my receipt after writing the review. They charged us $ 2 for a single glass of seltzer for my pregnant wife. Really lame imo.

Probably the worst $ 75 meal (for 2 people) I’ve ever had. The waitress was rude and inattentive. Then there’s the food! Oh, the food. Soggy cod sandwich, poorly shucked oysters, and rubbery shell-​on shrimp cocktail. The view doesn’t eliminate the regret of eating here.

Lobsterville Bar and Grille has an excellent view of the harbor and the food is very good. We had the lobster roll which is made either with mayo, cold or with butter, hot. It was a little different than what I’m used to but still delicious. The clam chowder was good, not great, but the pig wings were delicious though most people might not come to Martha’s Vineyard to have pork. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Overall a wonderful experience.

Went here for lunch yesterday and had an awful experience. The food was poor and the service was even worse. I started off with clam chowder and it looked like curdled milk and tasted like nothing. We were not about to spend 30 dollars on an entrée if a simple cup of clam chowder was made poorly. After explaining this to the server and politely asking for the bill (we didn’t even ask her to take the soup off) she rolled her eyes and stormed off with an attitude. I’ve worked in a restaurant so I understand the frustrations but that’s just unacceptable.

Had dinner on the 2^nd floor, great view of the harbor. Had the Shellfish Bucket as my meal with the Belgian fries… Delicious!

Lobsterville has the freshest food, the chef makes the food from scratch every day. Friendly staff, generous drinks and great food ! Waterfront location so beautiful! I’ll come back every time I’m on the Vineyard!!!

Isn’t it funny how we can change so dramatically? I read my review from last year as I’m enjoying a glass of chardonnay looking over the harbor.
Owner remains fabulous, waterside dining great and menu selections along with the wine plentiful. And, staff is very friendly and attentive.
This year I’m kinda liking Oak Bluffs! Yes, it’s gross with the low end tourists, but there are also really nice tranquil pockets. Hey, I thrived in Venice Beach, so the tourists shouldn’t bother me much at all. There is also a lot of tranquility once you dig deeper into the hidden neighborhoods. Heck, I’m even carrying around a brochure to potentially but a little place. Who would’ve figured?!

Came here after wandering the waterfront looking for a suitable place for lunch and got convinced of coming here front the sign for pig wings.
Had the lobster roll and pig wings. The lobster rolls was perfectly creamy with giant chunks of lobster. Basically they half the claws and quarter the tail. A generous portion to say the least, with just a hint of spice in a fluffy, crispy, buttery, oversized hotdog bun.
The pig wings were braised and deep fried pork shanks. These thing pulled clean off the bone with just a fork. This was the definition of tenderness. Came glazed with a very mildly spicy BBQ sauce that went perfectly.
The service was super friendly and laid back, and the waitress at one point plops down an unordered beer next to me and just said «oops.» A happy accident indeed.
Great waterfront views, friendly staff, and excellent food. Hit this place up for sure if you find yourself in the area.
