Not surprised that others here in town have had a similar experience to ours. Work requests were routinely lost and had to be duplicated, ultimately I began performing home repairs myself. But the worse part is the management /​owners and their low functioning hostile staff withheld a large portion of our security deposit and applied other unwarranted fees as part of their business model. Management for the company promised to return a portion of said fees, but failed to follow through. In my opinion, the business practices of this firm are a disgrace to the community.

The property management side of the company needs to focus more on serious issues and less on stupid, petty things. Mary Fanning is just plain crazy, as are all of the little minions she has working for her — as in literally creeping around your house and taking photos. And we OWN our place. I hate to think what those who are renting must go through.

Recently sold a home with Kathi Phillips and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell. Kathi was always there to take my call and walk me through the process. What was a stressful time for me was made easier by Kathi!!!

Do not rent from this company if you are looking for a place in Oak Harbor. By far the most unprofessional property management company I have rented from. It took almost 2 months to get a work order completed that I had turned in the first week I had moved in. The worst experience by far was the move out process. For the last month I was back and forth from my new residence which was 3 hours away. I left all lights and heat off as no one was living there anymore but yet each time I would return to the house to work on it all the lights were on along with the heat. When I asked the management company about it the first time they apologized and said they would not do it again. But each time I returned it was the same problem and they denied it and tried to blame it on me even though I was no longer in the area. The day of my move out the inspector was late so I called the office asking where she was. They told me that she was on her way and that I should not have called yet as she was only 5 minutes behind. When she showed up I informed her she was late and she got back in her car and drove back to the office. I followed and asked to speak to the owner. This is where things got interesting. She had no idea of all the issues I’d been having and told me that it was ok her employee was late as they have a business to run. I informed her of the issues I’d had during my rental period and she had an excuse for every single one trying to justify the horrible service they provided to me as a renter. She went off saying that I was calling her company unprofessional, and I had to agree as the way she was handling a customer compliant was far from what I would call professional. She didn’t apologize for one thing her company failed to follow through on. I felt like I was being kept hostage in the meeting room with her (Eleanor) and was being bullied to back down on my rights as a renter. To top it all off it took over a month to get my deposit check back (state law is 14 days) and my bank wouldn’t deposit it for me due to the fact it was a questionable account. Why was I not surprised. They also tried to charge me for carpet cleaning even though I had the carpets professionally cleaned and provided a receipt (per the lease). Long story short don’t rent from them. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Do not rent from this place! It is a more than a huge headache and will put a damper on living in Oak Harbor at all! We have lived here about 7mths and it’s been nothing but problems. From the 2mths it took to get any kind of working oven, the month it took to get a stove, to the fiasco we’re dealing with now. We have tried the entire time we’ve lived here to get the same list of 5 things fixed, only to be not taken seriously. For our work orders to be ‘lost’. For everyone to act like this is the first time they’re hearing of these problems. So we exersized our right in the landlord/​tenant law of WA to present them with notice to vacate papers as well as proof of why and how. Things then got really ugly, cops were called on us for us just trying to follow the law. After the cop left, we as well as our problems were belittled and bullying/​provoking was used to try to get us drop it. If non stop hassle, being lied to, bullied, and getting the cops called on you is your cup of tea, then you’ll love it here. Otherwise, stay far, FAR away from here. It’s not worth it.

I had the worst experience trying to buy a house here in oak harbor, long story short kathy phillips didnt do her job to check to see if the property was zoned right to be a duplex. I was already in escrow and put up money for appraisal and pre inspection and now im out of that. Along with her attitude during the time I wasted I feel discouraged to buy from anyone here in oak harbor. Avoid the headache and the lies.

Eleanor is always helpful, even when my rent wasn’t taken out of my account she was extremely helpful and didn’t charge me for being late!
