History

Established in 1975.

Altamira Art Glass has served a wide range of clients from its historic Oak Park, Il. location since 1995. But the studio sprang from the career of master craftsman Paul Damkoehler, who has worked with stained glass since 1971.

With a talented staff of skilled craftspersons, Altamira has created custom stained glass works for clients throughout the country, from Long Island, N.Y. to Las Vegas, Nev.

While the skills and experience of the staff of Altamira is expansive, continual improvement in technique and style are always embraced.

Business Owner

Paul Damkoehler has created stained glass since 1971. Since 1995, he has owned Altamira Art Glass in charming, historic Oak Park, Il. Since graduating from The University of Illinois in 1975, he has developed his artistry and craftsmanship in stained glass through ownership of Chicago area studios. Through the generous mentorship of the older generation of Chicago stained glass artisans as well as the talents of his co-​workers and his own adventurous experimentation, he has earned a deeply rooted, thorough understanding of the stained glass medium.

He and his talented staff have designed, built, delivered and installed unique windows for buildings throughout the USA., including homes, churches, hotels, mausoleums, schools and theaters. And he takes great pride in the ability to repair and restore even the most technical, challenging projects to perfection.
