US Post Office

Customer service… Rude all the time. I’ve called 3 different times in the past 7 months and they always seem to be irritated. I’ve tried to ask some questions to get a better understanding, they always cut me off and say «mam, I can’t help you». Well, maybe if you let me finish my question you can guide me properly. Maybe the new year can bring some new employees.

There is nothing worse than the terrible, rude, belligerent service at the Oak Park post offices. It should be the subject of a Saturday Night Live skit. I thought they were rude downtown until I tried buying a few stamps here on several occasions. Unbelievable. It happens at both the Southwest OP branch and the main post office in downtown Oak Park. The next time I intend to track down the manager and file a formal written complaint. If we don’t do this, it will continue. Remember that your taxes are paying these ugly people to mis-​conduct themselves this way.

This place IS the absolute worst… Long lines, small staff, RIDICULOUS wait times… HORRIBLE

An absolutely terrible place which will be demolished for unnecessary condos in Oak Park and be a huge improvement. I live in a single family home that was once a two-​flat and legally have two addresses. Unfortunately, only one address is on my drivers license and the package I needed to retrieve had the other address. After explaining this to the incredibly rude manager he wouldn’t release the package. I went online to try and have the package re-​delivered, signing the necessary documentation and they haven’t even tried despite my daily reschedules the past two weeks. I know there are rules to follow but what are the chances that their are two people with the same name living next to one another, robbing each other of their packages? The manager was a horrible human being that hates the human race and enjoys the menial power he has over other humans. If you want to see what is wrong with the US these days, take a good look at the post office in Oak Park.

Passport service, proceed with caution. First of all they only service passport applications between 10 am and 3:30 pm. If you are renewing you can go at any time. You just need all the proper documentation and old passport and you mail it in with your completed form. The fee is 110 $ for the passport renewal.
For a new passport application you must come during the hours I mentioned. If the passport is for a minor, BOTH parents must be there. They will have you raise your right hand and swear that the information you have both provided is true. The fee is 80 $ for the child passport and a 25 $ fee for first time passports. The woman said the passports would take about 5 to 6 weeks and I mailed a personal check for the fees.
I love OAK PARK but it seems like all Post Offices give you the run around and their favorite word is No. I’m serious.
Anyway, they have nice packing supplies and greeting cards.

Everytime I come in to this post office the clerks are always arguing with a customer. They’re always loud, confrontational and ultra defensive. I hate that they just can’t fire these people because it’s a federal job. Great location though and the post office has a great old times feel to it. The post office staff in this location is a sour point and place in a great FRIENDLY and small business community. I’m surprised no action has been taken by the regional director, manager, post master whatever his official title is. To relieve the staff in place now and replace it with a competent, customer service, friendlier staff.

The customer service here is really bad. I feel terrible for the only two helpful nice workers, orlando and another female that is always working the desk late in the day. However, I print labels through ebay and then drop the packages off at the post office.
This is the second time I have dropped off a package with 2 day priority and almost a week later, there is still no tracking information, meaning… it doesn’t even appear that it has left the post office! Another package I dropped off the day after has already been delivered to it’s destination and they were the same weight and type of shipping.
So this time, I called and was told there is nothing they can do and to just check back tomorrow. PATHETIC.
I called back again the next day and thankfully the person I talked to this time said she would take my name and number and keep track of any changes or new information and let me know. It has been 7 days since I shipped a 2 day priority package… and no tracking information available. At least she understood my concern.

I used to love this location because the workers were nice and friendly and you could always count on getting good service here, no matter whom you encountered. That is not so much the case these days. One of the original people are still here and he is still as friendly as he used to be. But everyone else is new and they don’t have the best attitudes with customers, and it doesn’t matter what time of day it is. I have personally been here during all times, from when they first open to later in the day, and the attitude is still the same. The good thing is that for me it is rare that I have to deal with the workers here. I am usually just getting my mail and leaving.

First, Orlando and the young woman he often works with in the afternoon are friendly and good at their jobs. They’re greatly appreciated.
Second, this is a great building. Artwork and history displays are fantastic.
Unfortunately, overall, this place seems badly run. They are short staffed. Other employees I have met are consistently rude. And the two different managers/​supervisors I’ve interacted with seem to be part of the problem. On three different occasions, I’ve been treated disrespectfully and dismissively.
I am sure that some USPS customers cause staff problems — but I’m not one one of them. So don’t treat me like a hostile person! I’m one of the good guys.
My home is a short distance from this post office. I often receive someone else’s mail. Twice, I’ve had to rely on tracking data to know that a package was being held for me at the post office because no actual notice was left.
Thanks to Orlando and his young colleague for somehow continuing to smile despite all the problems caused by others and lack of adequate staffing.

Why can’t the USPS share the name, DIRECT phone number, email address (just kidding) for the person in charge of EVERY post office???
Then I’d know who to bitch at…
