YoGo Station

really a neat little treasure in the heart of downtown oak park. just a couple doors down from the lake theater. this place looks closed sometimes because the owner keeps the lights on low, but just look for the sandwich board sign, out front to tell if they’re open…
took the kids there and was very pleasantly surprised. not a ton of flavors, but all the favorites (french vanilla, death by chocolate, etc.) were nicely augmented by some interesting twists (orange mango & pomegranate). but the toppings were incredibly fresh and plentiful. i was really surprised, after reading previous reviews, to see such a nice variety of fresh, delicious toppings. beautiful raspberries, blueberries, large blackberries, strawberries and all kinds of candy, granola and other cereal… i was really impressed!
three of us ate as much yogurt (and toppings) as we could handle, and it all came to under $ 15. definitely a tasty alternative to Oberpriced (oberweis). we’ll definitely be back!

Love that you get to add your own toppings, but the frozen yogurt is flavorless and the consistency is not smooth.

If you have been to a full service frozen yogurt store you will understand why I gave this place 2 stars. Only 4 yogurt flavors and it’s overpriced.

What a terrible place… the yogurt was watery and I think I was overcharged as the scale seemed to be dysfunctional. The flavor options were limited. The place just didn’t feel clean and looked outdated.

I agree with the other reviews here in that the administrators of these froyo machines need to find whatever dial cranks up (or down?) the freezing power. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I can get down on some froyo regardless of the frozen consistency but I typically prefer mine a little less melty.
Something interesting about this place is their froyo has a much more distinctive yogurt-​y taste and creamy consistency than I’m used to. Although, maybe that’s a side effect of it not being as frozen as your typical froyo. Who knows. Either way, it’s worth a try just because they’ve got Cinnamon Toast Crunch available on their toppings bar– I think that makes anything better.

Very disappointing. I was excited to see a FroYo place in Oak Park as I was touring FLLW’s homes, but left regretting coming in.
The flavor of the yogurt is not bad, but the consistency is off. Not soft and smooth, but heavy, and only partially frozen as it comes out of the dispenser. It was already melting by the time I paid.
The toppings looked like they had been sitting there for days, so I chose not to get any. And the price: no wonder the place is empty even when the streets are bustling with people on a hot day. $.49/​ounce is pretty expensive, especially because their yogurt is very «heavy.»
I filled a small cup up ¹⁄₃ of the way (since when I saw the bad consistency, I decided just to pay for what I had already dispensed into my cup and get out without getting more), and it cost $ 4.50. At other FroYo chains, you can get almost twice as much for the price. I felt so cheated.

I guess there is a such things as bad froyo.
Gritty texture, flavorless and barely frozen. It comes out in a soupy mess. The machines are super noisy too, but obviously not working hard enough to keep the FroYo cold enough. If you must go, go with a smoothie then it doesn’t matter if it’s melting at a rapid rate. But might I ask, what’s with the tacky paper label slapped on the smoothie cups?
The fruit on the toppings bar is NOT fresh cut as you can see the drying around the edges.
The place always looks closed because the lighting is so dim, or not all turned on. It’s not very clean either and I’m talking about the floors. It looks like the place has been neglected. Besides that, the guy that works there looks dead inside. He literally just stands there until you ask him for something, like make a smoothie or ring your order up, and even then he does the bare minimum on customer service.
And yes, I went there twice… just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. My first impression was exactly the same the second time around.

Yes it’s a little on the pricey side but since it’s self-​serve and based on weight, you only have yourself to blame. I loooove Yogo as a healthy alternative to ice cream and feel like I’m doing my body and tastebuds a favor.
The pomegranate and strawberry are the best, and the chocolate and caramel flavors taste a little strange with the yogo tartness. Add a little fruit and chewy mochi topping, and live music on Lake Street and these are the ingredients for a perfect Oak Park summer day.

Was pretty disappointed in this place. The price definitely added up way more than I thought it would.
The yogurt melted almost instantly, and I don’t mean melted as turned into a shake, more like melted and turned into MILK.

This is my first Fryo Yo experience and I don’t know I’m not in love like the rest of the world. Maybe it’s just that my taste buds prefer ice cream or frozen custard. When I was there they only had a couple of flavors. I chose to mix vanilla with chocolate. I only filled my cup about half way. For my toppings i chose strawberries, chocolate chips, and 2 macaroons. The whole thing cost a whopping $ 6! Ouch! I felt ripped off. The yogurt itself was just ok. The chocolate chips got really hard and they were hard to eat. The strawberries I believe were frozen so everything was ice cold. I will give this place another shot, but I will be alot wiser on my choices of toppings.

Another dispensary of mediocre by-​the-​ounce frozen yogurt with an unpalatable original-​tart.
This place earns points for their smoothie menu, though. They’ll whirl up any number of delicious and decadent, creative smoothies using their yogurt flavors. Makes it all worthwhile.
Chocolate peanut butter smoothie, yes. Original tart fro-​yo, no way.

Froyo is the shiz!
I have been dying to try this place forever but they were closed for a while, until finally one day I walked by and it was open! YAY!
I got the strawberry banana yogurt and filled up my cup about half way and finished it kinda fast (it was so hot I could probably cook an egg on my forehead, damn chicago weather) & then I came back for more.
It can get a little pricey depending on how much you fill it up but its definitely worth it! & the drinks are super cheap, they even have these yummy Japanese snack things, they’re really good!
I can’t wait to try more desserts & flavors!

Felipe, thank you for your response, shows you are a responsible owner. I hope you fixed your tart original flavor yogurt machine so it’s not so runny. I will go back, I like to support local businesses and even thought new cheaper places are opening in downtown for yogurt, I like to have a place close to home that I can walk to and if the owners are nice and take care of their place its always a +, and maybe offer some specials or coupons!

YoGo Fro Yo is good stuff yo!
I like frozen yogurt and the shit is good to me belly. I also like when desserts are prepared for me. But YoGo puts the work in your hands. You pump out as much frozen goodness as you need and then top it off with desired treats.
WaRNiNg: they charge by weight.
It is insignificant which container is chosen. So be very careful when pumping. Two goofs walk up and start pumping out fro yo w/​out knowing. Plus dude behind the counter says absolutely nothing while this all goes on. Once toppings are added and desserts are rang up, is when we realize we’ve overspent. Almost twelve dollars for cups of it and nothing near what would equal two pints. Aaargh!
I got a large container and added a few different flavors in different areas. I was surprised that even when flavors started canoodling one another the stuff was still tasty. I used to be one of those that feared such wild combinations, such as chocolate and pomegranate.
Good stuff definitely.
The only downside was that they were out of waffle. Come’on! Their main two items are fro yo and waffle, they should have the stuff ready to go or at least be able to make it on the fly. I’d give them another star for that!

Self Serve Froyo+Mid Day Stomach Grumble = Major Destruction.
The bell from the front entrance dings as you walk in, nobody is standing behind the counter and all of the sudden you freeze in your tracks as you see many… aka UH OH flavors of froyo in a help yourself line that is set up for some serious devouring. You’re doomed before you can reach for the cup.
YoGo Station is a standard self serve pitstop that is compact but filled with everything you could possibly need to fill the void of a cool snack. From flavors like original tart to glorious newbies orange or mango there’s bound to be something for all of the kiddies.
The topping selections are, I don’t want to say lacking as there is pretty much everything any other froyo stop would have like nuts, chocolate, mochi or even fresh fruit. But for some unknown reason I was craving the Fruity Pebbles. This craving does not succumb this lady in blue and when I didn’t see it I dove into the mochi and snickered off.
The texture is in tact, the froyo isn’t icy and drab where so many other places go wrong. It’s light, airy and just the right flavoring. I stuck it out with original because I’m flashy like that.
Note to self: There is a reason it’s called self serve… Go with Caution. A slip with the wrist and dip with the hip can cause you to whip out a little extra dough. Yield the yellow tape and pull the tab down slowly.

My almost two year old daughter and I brought our Groupon to YoGo yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed our snack!!! We tried the Very Berry, Peanut Butter, and Almond, and I have to say… my least favorite was the peanut butter. Very surprising, as I thought this would be my favorite. Anyhow, the yogurt was refreshing and delicious!
Can’t wait to enjoy another refreshing treat soon!

Even though we walked in right as the guy was ready to lock the door, he still served us and was really nice. The yogurt was excellent, perfect way to end a long walk around the area and the shop is really cool looking inside. Very clean and just plain fun to visit. And it’s not a chain. It’s the one and only Yogo Station.

I absolutely love pay by the ounce frozen yogurt, so I drove out to Oak Park just to get some. I went with peanut butter yogurt and added Reese’s cups as a a topping — and these Reese’s chunks were huge, I loved it.
I always add strawberries on top of whatever yogurt I’m getting, because they’re tasty and weigh next to nothing. I was disappointed by the strawberries because they were small and mushy — unlike some of the previous commenters, I’d rather have large, fresh chunks of strawberry than a tiny strawberry stew.
The strawberries aside, YoGo Station met my expectations. I’ll probably go back, even in the winter, cause I’m weird like that.

Opening up just in time for winter (huh?) is Oak Park’s newest spot for frozen dairy confections. Unlike the others, though, this one you can feel virtuous about. And the yogurt really tastes good! If you told me it was soft-​serve ice cream, I would believe you, but it is actually non-​fat and all natural.
Yogo station’s concept is somewhat self-​serve. There are 8 flavors a day, some typical and some unexpected (like green tea, espresso, peanut butter and key lime). You start with a generous plastic container and fill it yourself with any amount, any flavor, or any combination of flavors. Then you mosey over to the toppings area where you can add your choice of about 40 toppings. You can go candy-​like with M&Ms or crushed oreos — you can go crunchy with cereal or granola — or you can go healthy with about 10 different real fresh fruits (not canned).
I got a chocolate yogurt topped by fresh raspberries, and it was really sweet and yummy. If you like the «Berry Chill» type of tart & tangy yogurt, my guess is that the «Original Tang» flavor is for you.
The cost for the whole concoction is 39 cents per ounce (we enjoyed a discount for Grand Opening weekend) and there are a nice selection of beverages and teas there if yogurt isn’t your thing.
A fun, creative and healthy treat. The only caveat is that you really have to watch your kids, who have so much fun filling their containers that they are likely to overdo it.
