I could not have had my personal belonging is a better facility. Al and his crew were the best. I had my stuff stored for 4 years. Its clean and I didn’t have to worry about rodents in my boxes. Al is the best and sweetest individual. Great customer service and I will do business with them again. I highly recommend All Star!

Here is what I would like to know if I were researching storage places. This place is much less expensive than the other places. What do you get in return? Limited hours BUT the trade off is they only open their doors when someone is physically there to watch who is coming and going. You can make it work, but if you live on a very abnormal schedule, this may not be the place for you. The inside is NOT fancy. This is a large warehouse with big wooden storage lockers. Because it’s in West Oakland, you have to close and lock your doors in between runs in and out of the warehouse, but if you can slide the gate all the way open and back your car in, that is safer. Real honest to goodness customer service. Al and his guys are fantastic and easy to do business with, they are friendly, and you feel that personal touch and pride that they have in this old warehouse. Overall, we have had our stuff there for almost a year. There have definitely been some timing challenges where we needed something on a Sunday of after 5 pm and cursed them for not being open. For the money, it’s been a great investment to know my stuff is safe and gives me a lot more room in my apartment!

Al and the boys have been here a *long* time, first as a moving company, now as a storage place. I was storing at one of the big-name franchises before, which was fine… but I’d much rather support a place like this that is owned by a person not a corporation. The spacea are clean and in good repair. This is an old building, but it’ll probably weather the next quake better than those flismy pre-fab newbie places. Plus, Al will regale you with tales of West Oakland in the 80’s, and show you his fabulous teakwood eagle! This to me is what gives the 5th star Support your local community-based storage!

I have relied on this company to store and transport artwork for over thirty years because of the ideal climate within the walls of this brick building. The prices are great and the people who run it extremely nice. They go out of their way to be helpful and professional.

This review is for the storage facility — not the moving service. As far as appearances go, this really doesn’t look like the place you want to store your stuff. I’m sorry to say it, but that’s the truth. The building is old and rickety — the floors are plywood and it looks like it might come down in the next major earthquake(though to be fair, when I asked about this the very nice and reliable guy who works there told me that the building survived the last major quake so it’d probably survive the next one, too). Basically, if you want one of those gleaming and very antiseptic looking storage places then this is really not where you want to be. But at All-Star the prices are very low and, despite the aesthetics of the facility, is run very professionally. We’ve been there for a number of years and have had no complaints. I don’t think they are open on Sundays, so be sure to give them a call to check that out if the weekends are the times when you need to get your stuff.
