We work towards our vision by living and teaching the skills of nonviolent communication as developed by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD. We support personal and social transformation by offering training, coaching, mediation, meeting facilitation and leadership development to individuals, families and organizations.

History

Established in 2002.

BayNVC was created in January 2002 to formalize a collaboration that had already begun among several of the local certified trainers. We chose to come together because we believed that, by working together, we would be able to reach many more people and bring nonviolent communication more powerfully to the world.

BayNVC is truly a gift, not only to the Bay Area; but the entire country. This organization is working to not only spread the Nonviolent Communication work of Marshall Rosenberg, but also creating new ways of using NVC consciousness in the world.

Bay NVC has had a reputation in my world up in Oregon as being the pre-​eminent place to learn the depths of the NVC work. Having done a variety of NVC workshops from trainers around the West Coast over the last 11 years, I’m now in the BayNVC leadership program… which totally rocks.
I highly recommend at least taking an introduction… they’re usually free or a small donation (to help cover the room and some gas money for the presenter) and you’ll get the essence of the work… stuff to actually use the moment you leave. Then they offer all levels of training if you want to go deeper… all over the Bay area. A great non-​profit!

Bay Area Nonviolent Communication blew me away like nothing else has in years and years. Its content is so relevant to our times and our culture, providing us a roadmap to the paradigm shift that is necessary for the better world many envision: one of caring, nonviolence and thriving as a result. I can’t recommend it highly enough. What they teach should be taught in schools all over this country. It should be part of the curriculum from coast to coast and in all countries. I started to read the book and liked it but I put it down. In the middle of a relationship crisis I picked it up again and damn, it all made sense.
That relationship couldn’t be saved but I’m now taking a six week class and am really grateful that I’m putting aside the time for it. It’s straight forward stuff but not necessarily easy to put into practice, so the hands on is helpful. I’ve been really impressed with the instructors I’ve met thus far.
I think classes like this should be required for everyone, we can all stand to be kinder to ourselves and others.

Bay Area Nonviolent Communication
This is major paradigm shifting at its best… something that the world needs. Badly.
Bay NVC is a community of people promoting and teaching NVC skills. They teach not only great communication skills for every type of relationship, but a whole way of perceiving the world that just makes a bunch of sense to me.
Don’t let the word nonviolent throw you off — it’s really about compassion for yourself and others. The workshops and classes I’ve taken here have truly been one of the most empowering things I’ve ever done.

Get on their email list and try to attend a workshop when Marshall Rosenberg is in town. He founded Non Violent Communcation, and he has charisma, insight and patience with newbees. I have taken two workshops with him which I loved. One I took with one of the staffers, was not as satisfying. Their website has a ton of information. Applying the practices of NVC will help you get your needs met, avoid angry outbursts and maybe even repair the world.

Great interpersonal skills taught here! My personal experience is with Inbal and Miki Kashtan. They both have tremedous skill at teaching and modeling true compassion. If you find that you are surrounded by grumpy, irritatting and annoying people their classes/​groups/​workshops will give you the skills to have a new and better experience.
