Went for lunch, ordered three salads: #5 squid(yum pla muk) $ 6.75 #6 beef(yum nua) $ 6.75 #7 papaya $ 5.25. Fresh ingredients, made to order, quite different from each other, unusual spicing. All were delicious, on a par with Chai Thai and Champa Garden, but not like anything I’ve had at either. The salads were so good we wanted to try a hot dish, asked the cook what she recommended and got a chicken curry(I think #17 «spicy chicken» $ 5.95). It was okay but not on the same level as the salads, wouldn’t order it again. I think the sign outside said Thai and Lao cuisine. The salads seemed Laotian to me. Cash only.

as «a taste of asian cuisine». café orchid offers selections from thai, vietnamese, and chinese cuisines. this eatery has about 10 tables and is very clean. the steam table offered a 3 choices for 4.95.(fried rice(5.25), fried quail(5), curry chicken(5.95?), and brocculi beef(5.95)). i skipped the rice and choose the latter 3 for take out. –fried quail: pretty tasty, not overly salty. –broccoli beef: broccoli and bell peppers not fully cooked, beef overcooked. –curry chicken: chicken overcooked, and potato undercooked. –comped thai coffee candies for dessert the flavors were ok and nothing special. they have a combo phở(6.25) that i will try sometime.
