Cranky Boots

cranky boots had a «pushcart» at layover’s franklin street party (¹⁰⁄₂₃). only 2 flavors of goat’s milk and something and spicy pear… at 3 & 4 each.
licked a spicy pear and avoided the goat’s milk since not a fav of goat anything. the spicy pear (3) mostly tasted icy. and it did have pear bits in it. didn’t have much pear flavoring. seems something was missing.

I recently became a cranky boots believer at the eat real festival. And I am not a big ice cream or popsicle eater. I just don’t have a big sweet tooth in general. But after my friends let me try some of their picks it really got me enjoying and eating things together that I would have never thought of eating together. I love their strawberry and basil because like most of their popsicles it is an awesome fusion of sweet and savory. I would have never really thought about eating figs or goat yogurt but the figs and yogurt pop was great ! And I HAVE TO mention the pumpkin float that is sooo amazing. You havent tried a pumpkin pop unless you have tried one from cranky boots! And I thought pumpkin pie was good these pumpkin pops are amazing. WIsh I could find them in stores but festivals around the bay area are their specialty. So I will be keeping a look out whenever I’m attending any more festivals.

I happened upon Cranky Boots at the pride parade this year in SF. Oh my goodness! Their banana with burnt caramel and sea salt was HELLA good. It brought back great childhood memories of my grandma making banana pancakes on Saturday mornings.
Also the owners were super friendly to me and what attractive people! I definitely would buy another pop if I saw them again.

wow, i was gonna leave a glowing 2-​star review, but seeing the other cranky reviews here, i will instead leave a cranky 3-​star review :)
i got the grapefruit and cream pushpop. it’s awesome to see a pushpop — i don’t know where they got the plastic rigs for them. really nice idea. the flavors were great too, but the pop was super icy and hard. and as it melted, it pooled at the bottom of the cylinder and came out the handle and got all over the place and was a sticky mess. so there’s a texture problem and an engineering problem here.
i found them to be friendly though, and i like the concept. hopefully they’ll improve as time goes on.
edit: thanks Amanda for writing back! no, i didn’t get that it was a misfit pop, although in retrospect it was clear from the menu (everything else was crossed off), so i should have been aware. maybe it would be worth repeating the obvious (since customers are lazy :) when misfits are all that are left? I’m looking forward to trying you guys again, no need for a freebie!

the name is fitting. i find the owner to be a bit unpleasant. my friend and i had some questions for her at the eat real festival, and she acted as if our questions were silly or maybe she just didn’t feel like answering them. either way, her attitude was off putting and we walked away empty handed and had dessert somewhere else…
ETA: «If you approached my cart asking something like „Are the Pops frozen“ then I am happy that you spent your money elsewhere, as those types of people are generally not my favorite clientele.» This is the response I got from the owner below… as i said in my previous review, she is CRANKY hence a most appropriate name for the the company.
